You would then re-choose your joker. It happened to me twice last year - I named Wilma Dykeman with Joker, then Saddam Hussein. In the end, Messner got it, bless her. Ultimately if people die in the last few days of the year, it will be sorted out that no-one misses out, yet no-one gets an advantage by it going into January. Also, CP (or anyone else), you could name a sub joker when entering your team should you want to. Not a chance. Julia Carson will get minor coverage from CNN\The Washington post but as far as the DDP required obituary goes she is nothing more then a waste of space. It's a shame because she won't make spring time. No need to worry about her obit in the UK. She's... DEAD There goes a prime pick for the WDP.....harrumph!

Well they've finally done it, and owing to the delayed nature of the write up, the Deathlist have outpunned us again!

Agreed. The Deathlist have access to better information regarding potential deaths than ever before. However, maybe this year is just a poor year for deaths. My own shadow list has been a disappointment (9/50, compared to 13/50 in 2006). I think there's too many over 90s on the list. Quite a few people croak it when they approach 90, but then if they get past that mark, they carry on until the mid-90s (see Michael Foot et al). There should be more late-80s and then 93/4 onwards...

To be fair, those two could have died anytime. There was no indication that they were ill. With the other three you have a point however... It looks as if its not going to be one of the better years for the Deathlist, unless something dramatic happens. Perhaps one more death...

Hank Kaplan is dead. It will be interesting to see if gets a UK obit as I was going to take a gamble with him on next year's DDP team. Jack Cardiff is now off the subs bench. And probably not limbering up, if you catch my drift...

If it's like last year, I shall weep. I am amazed no-one has gone between the 4th & now!) I've already written off DDP 2007 and concentrating on getting back into the Top 10 next year. I cannot rewrite history, no matter how controversial. From a completely selfish point of view with my DDP running hat on, I hope no-one famous dies between now & the 5th January. Failing that, then Jimmy Langley would do well to pass away in the next few weeks as that would put me in the top 10 this year & as no-one's picked him (or is likely to) for next year. Here's wishing a healthy Christmas & New Year to about 2,000 famous/semi-famous people! Why the 5th? Oh yeah, of course....
