Didn't Wake Up This Morning...
Banshees Scream replied to Anubis the Jackal's topic in DeathList Forum
These guys are the roots of the blues. It's almost surreal their still here. Anybody who has ever picked up an instrument to play the blues owes it to Pinetop Perkins and David Honeyboy Edwards. It just so happens that I was about to make a similar post and talk about all this Delta Blues, Devon. I guess sometimes people do think alike. -
David Hasslehoff from Baywatch has been rushed to the hospital after possibly suffering a seizure. We might have a developing story here .. stay tuned.

Bob Sheppard has announced that he is officially retiring from announcing at Yankee stadium, according to this article. The 99 year old Sheppard hasn't announced one game since 2007 and it seems even the "voice of god" can be silenced due to the limits of an aging body. Spring training 2010? Anyway, things have been very quiet around here. Too quiet for me. I understand it Mr. G, but what can you do? Is this the end? Did you leave us as a friend or did you write on the walls? Maybe you were a friend with a box of crayons. But I'll keep refusing to accept that I may be in denial.

It's very unfortunate that back on the first Thanksgiving feast the Pilgrims and the Indians decided to have a turkey as the main course. I don't find turkey very appetizing at all. If only a few mysterious Italian chefs arrived at the scene and began making negotiations immediately starting with: Put that Turkey down! We have left over lentils and pasta waiting in the boat.. I guess a few Spanish or Jewish chefs wouldn't have been so terrible either.

Ariel will never wake up. He's dead, finished, gone, expired, over with, history, a faint memory, finito, wacked, no longer operating, forever napping. He's retired, exempt, immobile, out of batteries, unchangeable, nonchargeable, deflated, residing in one spot, needs to be dusted, useless, preserved and just for show. That's right, he's just for show. My suggestion to Rotten Ali and Maryportfuncity and all others would be to put him on ignore. I wouldn't give him an ounce of credibility. I will never place Sharon on any of my lists again and I hope the anti-Sharon movement will spread rapidly. Someday he'll be a unique pick for some unknown and we'll all laugh when he dies .. it will be like a canned laughter. The kind of laughter heard from those sitcoms in the 1980's.

Samak Sundaravej has just become another name in the Political Frailty thread. Welcome to the top ten, Deadsox. I guess every now and then it's worth putting chance itself to the test.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009
Banshees Scream replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Happy Birthday to TMIB. Thirty four years young .. and someday you'll be thirty four years older. Good things will come for you. I once read a post about how you regretfully walked down the stairs one night. What was really happening there? -
The fame and all the glory. Umhm. I would probably decline the vast majority of invitations received unless there was something in it for me. Do they have mantle pieces in New York? I would imagine they do exist in New York and the fine wines sound very tempting. I somehow think a title so prestigious wouldn't enhance my career prospects nor spring opportunities in my direction. I'm in a field where my thoughts are like my GPS and my salary and my life is all decided upon what I create. I kind of need to pretend like I have the social skills of a salesman though. Marriage proposals? Now that would frighten me. I'm too down to earth for any kind of unreasonable commitment\girls who follow their illusions too closely. Press interviews? Maybe one or two. I would have some fun with that, Devon. The answer is no. It's not beyond the realms of possibility but it seems like a long shot. So close but yet so far as they say. I respect Odstocks rule even as I disagree with it. I honestly like to think it's truly a miracle (from the standpoint of a morbid mind) that Matthew remains in the position he's in. Who is Matthew by the way? I think that I might know who Matthew is. Anyway, the death of Mehsud was almost like a miracle, it was a gamble which ultimately might buy it for him. It's actually more of a miracle for him to catch some glory than it would be for me to top his performance as it stands. Either way, it's been a hell of a year. It is what it is and that's that. We will see what happens.

Death that is highly unlikely to happen by Jazzzz but ... New Orleans jazz trumpeter Lionel Ferbos is still playing at the ripe old age of 98. I don't know if he is famous enough or not, but he has been given the title of the oldest Jazz musician still performing in New Orleans.

My DDP team has now risen to second place and I've topped the 100 point mark which is somewhat impressive. Win or lose, I've put my competitive nature to the test. There have been some outstanding teams this year and I have certainly learned something new each time around. I'm very hyped about this new year coming along and I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say that. The gravely ill Abdelbaset Al Megrahi seems like he'll survive into the year twenty ten 2010 and that closes a door on NNIGN's chances. Could this be anybody's game? The death of Sturanovic or Uttley will propel my team to the grandest position of them all. The death of Edwin Morgan or Ariel Sharon would tie me with Matthew. If we tie does it end in a tie? There can't be any other way and I'm sure Mr. Odstock agrees with me. It will be a very controversial close to the DDP if it should happen. Time will tell us all.

A GPS unit leads man onto the train tracks. The other day somebody happened to tell me about some woman who was trying to sue the manufacturer of the GPS which led her to the tracks. I wonder how her case will turn out? In this modern age we allow technology to think for us but should we? Who is really lacking common sense here? Oh, the GPS. Of course.

John J. O'Connor III, the husband of the retired Sandra Day O'Connor, has died at the age of 79 after a 20 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. I had been scouting him out as a unique for my DDP team next year.. but I might as well forget about that now.

Wot Pore Sbelin Av U Scene?
Banshees Scream replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm more into anything modern, if you don't mind me saying. The temptation itself is temporary just as is the adrenalin rush we experience after purchasing these much desired objects which sit and collect the dust after we grow tired of raving about the everlasting joy they bring into our aging lives. I may have succumbed to a spenders impulses once before, many times before to be precise. But we must be great resistors of this temptation and control our desires. The key words I speak of tonight are "Resist" and "Desire". I believe that he who resists unnecessary desire will strengthen the will power or "the consumers immune system" and by suppressing this hunger it will lead to a greater inner peace which speaks volumes. But sometimes we find pleasure in resisting the desire. Should we give in? What if we are persuaded to give in? I like the temptation but I seldom give in. -
Over this passed year many big time deaths have gone down. We've had cancer take it's toll, a very publicized crucifixion cancer battle of some disgusting Reality TV queen who is a nobody in the US, death by self bondage allegedly, a mid-June thriller, a few sudden assassinations, suicides out of the blue, a politician here and an actor there, a few Kennedy's, the deaths of the primed and the forgotten and arguably the very best too. But out of all these happenings which have taken course I'm happy to hear that Ronnie Biggs has escaped death from a prison cell. His release had been on the verge for some time and after being a victim of example for longer than anybody should have to be .. I hope he has that beer or two by the seaside. The greatest tease in DL history: Possibly even surpassing Castro. A very bold individual thinks he'll live beyond next year and even beyond that too. And for the dozens who think Ronnie Biggs is going down - I say think again.

I'm hoping the result of tomorrow nights World Series game will leave a brief smile on Mr. Steinbrenner's face. If the Yankees should lose this World Series in the 7th game, George will most certainly have Cashman's balls on his son's front desk first thing in the morning. But that won't happen. Brian speaking on his blackberry (with a slight hint of worrisomeness) keeps assuring George that everything is going according to plan .. We all know that George is the puppet master and that he still runs this team. My prediction: The New York Yankees claim a 27th World Title with a 4 - 3 win over Philadelphia. It's not that I got any rice and beans with Pedro Martinez but .. a prediction is a prediction. His latest interview was just off the charts.

.. Dim the lights. Showtime commentator and former CNN journalist Nick Charles is battling stage 4 bladder cancer. At the same time, we have the father of the cocky and undefeated Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr, Floyd Mayweather Sr., who is suffering from this incurable and unpredictable lung disease called sarcoidosis. While I was switching through the channels, I just happened to catch him saying "that every time he coughs" it scars his lungs.

Somebody better go find that girl, the one they called IE+. I feel the honour of writing his dreaded headline should go to her. After the affair he put that in his will, so the rumour goes.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....
Banshees Scream replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Spanish novelist Francisco Ayala has expired at the grand old age of 103. He published his first novel (Tragicomedy of a Man Without Spirit) back in 1925. Some 84 years ago. -
Are we ready to put on our reading glasses? Ahha. The veteran journalist liked to quietly feast on his sausage while writing by candlelight near the midnight hour. The concept of work first and play later never seemed to register in his psyche. Godot's thoughts seemed to be memories rather than anything of the now and his viewpoint of all things made him seem like that of a weathered individual, someone who only speaks the language of the past. He remembered the days when they only sold records, the days where game shows ruled television and when comic books were for the ultra creative outcast. He missed people and he missed conversations too. But despite the fact that Godot's life was falling into a mid-life depression, he found a place that he could call home somewhere down the road of obscurity itself. There he arrived at the scene of Deathlist.net, a place where he could speak freely about squid and the pattern of the bricks. Godot died back on the 28th after a few sips of what was originally thought to be lemonade. He seemed in good spirits and encouraged reform. He also set up a folding table and poured several cups of what was believed to be the same lemonade for all the other members of the forum. Is he a hero or a coward? "Man, I can never tell". My thoughts: I did not neglect to read Godot's sensible complaint about lack of circulation and how the interest in DL seems to have gone cold. I admit that some of his complaints were responsible for driving me away from posting. Too many birthday greetings, too many double posts by "spammers", too many posts left unanswered. Obituary hunters running wild and the essential personality's of the forum seem to have faded out to Facebook or twitter or somewhere that I believe to be fake, places that I've seldom gone and have never been a fan of. Wherever they may have went, they (or most of them) are certainly not investing anything creative\informative\entertaining out here where morbid media burns bright. Godot found what's inside himself on Deathlist.net and that's emptiness. Is he all alone? Maybe the reader should ask himself\herself that question. But hope survives where emptiness dwells. Godot is like the maniac on the street with all the answers but so wacked out that he can never put anything into motion. The feel Godot gives off reminds me of a character in the film "Rescue Dawn" named Gene DeBruin, who was basically kept prisoner for much too long. After finally agreeing to escape, he ignored the plot in which he agreed on with all the other prisoners. When Dieter confronts him and says "Where the fu-ck were you?' Gene simply just wanders off in his own little world, finally free but showing absolutely no sympathy for the others. Godot's like him in a way, he tells us what he misses and what he wants, but selfishly chooses to fade away instead of making it happen. Godot's latest manifestation isn't showing dignity and it's certainly not showing anyone respect, it's borderline pathetic, it's a dreamer who chose suicide, that's what it is. If you want to make this forum a better place you should make quality contributions on a consistent basis and try to spell check what you have posted. Keep it real, keep it interesting, keep it raw. Nobody is perfect but it's the effort which counts. I think we need more 'real" on Deathlist. I often feel that everyone here is like a bunch of estranged neighbors who wave artificially but simply continue to live here for their own selfish\deceptive reasons. It almost reminds me of a wealthy neighborhood in suburban New Jersey. Now don't get me wrong, keeping it real shouldn't be about persuading others to crack one liners about private parts. How's it going Ms. Bazarr? I read what Star Crossed wrote, he said that he's alone, that he's very alone. Star Crossed's alone just like Godot was. The attack stooped at a low level but at least he made a solid point. I believe that freedom of speech is the best way of communicating for all intended purposes but that doesn't mean you should exploit yourself in the most vulgar and most classless way possible. Show some respect for others and yourself. It makes sense. Even if you have never done it before. Final thoughts on Godot: Godot was one of the few regular posters who actually possessed some form of writing talent (besides SeƱor Honez and a few others). I liked the way he opened up a post: Dorothy Parker was told of the death of the famously taciturn US President Calvin Coolidge, she replied: "How can they tell?" for example. Godot himself was a thinker, one who never felt discouraged to exercise the mind. A strong vocabulary and a hunger for debate, the elder statesman never backed down. I always thought he was very full of himself though and that his ignorance came alive when ever a debate did. There is a saying "I'm from Missouri - prove me wrong" and that should be written in bold on Godot's gravestone. Anybody who denies the moon landing's is living in their own world, it's either that or maybe I've been living in my own world all this time. I admit that in a sense Godot reminded me of myself, in fact, we may have even shared the same taste in women. What aggravates me the most is that he decided to lay down and die like a coward. If you hate to see something die and you choose death, that means you have given in. I dare someone to tell me that I'm wrong. "That's defeatist talk" Godot once cried and with his recent complaint it's obvious one can never win with words like that. But Godot has forever worn the mask of a hypocrite, somebody who sits in endless doubt and memorizes his post count like a wedding anniversary. Post count (to him) translated to cholesterol and in some way it actually did. I mean we should post consciously but let's all be honest with ourselves. Do you know why you care? Already I can hear the cheers and the screams, a very mixed reaction but I hear somebody telling me to go way. But the truth hurts doesn't it? Godot cares about his post count because it represents the deterioration of his life. It's over - so he thinks. He doesn't believe in his life anymore, this kept him for a while, but he was ashamed of it. Deathlist must have never been a hobby but instead some form of distraction. None of this has ever really been about death or being friendly. I'm afraid that I can't tell you what the rest is about, Godot will have to go make an appointment with a specialist: like the bathroom mirror for example. In the end, all I know is that his demise proves his insecurities and his selfishness. His loss will definitely leave a void on this forum, even if it's a void that we pretend is not there. Goodnight Nick Clooney. Between life and death there is the other place that you'll be, it'll be here on the nights that you can't sleep. Snacking on unusual fruit and reading in the silence. I apologize for making a post at such a great length. I don't plan on doing it again. Almost 7 months .. I needed my fix. I hope everyone liked the post. And don't drink the lemonade.

Corazon Aquino, the first female president of the Philippines from 1986 - 1992 was diagnosed with colon cancer back in March. She has made an appearance on DL back in 1990 and some articles indicate that she is responding well to chemotherepy. On my radar it might only be a matter of time before she becomes a statistic. I think she is a top priority for DL 2009.

On the day of my fifth or sixth fourth anniversary I will bring my attention to .. the man himself. It was circa November 1986 when Cary Grant's death hit the papers and the news shook a small bar in London which ultimately brought the unique concept of modern death listing to life. A young Grim Reaper sat beside his peers that night and generated a very interesting (yet improbable) group of celebrities who's spotlight has long gone dark. Although there is one man who still stands in his spot light. Specifically one man who still has a place on this list in it's twenty-second year in existence. Some people may only know him as the Lance-Corporal Jack Jones. However I know this man to be the immortal one. The man with the most legendary status in DL history. But the cold-hard-fact remains that immortality isn't real. Immortality itself doesn't exist in this world and one day .. Clive Dunn's spot light will go dark. One day Clive Dunn's obituary will arrive and it will come just when we aren't looking. I can honestly say that after all Clive has meant to this place, and after all I have given, I would give a day of my life to be the one to quietly .. break the news. It gives you chills.

George Steinbrenner will attend the opening game at the new Yankee Stadium. Steinbrenner, 78, is confined to a wheelchair and can barely stand. He also attended a few exhibition games in Tampa and was described as "very enthusiastic, fully engaged in the game, his players, his manager. To me, he was really terrific." George Steinbrenner is without question a true mastermind who is still hungry for World Series glory. Go George! I can just imagine him rubbing his hands together as he prepares for the first pitch of what he believes will be a season of absolute dominance.

It's as if the minds of people are sold on the prices themselves rather than the object of interest. Prices can be very deceiving things and in life everything has got a price.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009
Banshees Scream replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Happy Birthday Ronnie - enjoy yourself. I was never much for birthday greetings but Mr . Scream seems to have reformed his view on wishing others the time of their lives. I'm not sure if that's because I'm slowing down or if it's because I'm on borrowed time.
