A bad miss for DL and a very, very bad miss for myself. A member of the DDP and Hartlepool Deadlypool, I had 30 chances to get this guy on my list. He ranks right up there with my most hated right-wing politicians, had already suffered a stroke, is one of the most assassination-worthy individuals on the face of the planet and I STILL didn't pick him. Gutted. There's Thatcher, plodding along nicely; I picked her on both of my dead pools (more out of spite than statistical probability), yet that filthy, lying, conniving, savage sh*t Sharon didn't even get a look-in? "Remiss" doesn't come close to describing it. I should sue myself for negligent malpractice. Maybe I will... I have the consolation of having him in my DDP team.

Labour MP Rachel Squire is being treated in an Edinburgh hospital after suffering a stroke. The MP for Dunfermline and West Fife, who is 50, is in the high dependency unit after being admitted on Wednesday. A brain tumour she had battled in December had caused bleeding on the brain, a Labour Party spokeswoman said. "She was sleeping all day - although she is not in a coma - and is not fully conscious," she said. Ms Squire, who was elected in 1992, has suffered two brain tumours and is the patron for cancer charity Brain Tumour Action. The Labour Party spokeswoman added: "Doctors have said it will take two or three weeks before her brain settles down and they can tell how she has been affected by the stroke. "Everyone in the party hopes she gets better very soon." Ms Squire has fought to secure regeneration funds for her seat, home to Rosyth dockyard, and also helped to secure the future of a local coal mine.

It says here that his condition is deteriorating so maybe I can start counting my chickens.

Re-arrange these words to form a well known phrase: Chickens count hatched have your they don't before You are such a killjoy.

I'm very excited about this. He's in my DDP team & this is my first year. It'd be great to have a success in the first week of the year.

I mentioned DL & DDP to some relatives & they went sort-of blank as if they couldn't understand what I was talking about!

And people used to die of things like "surfeit" and "teeth" !!
-
The AA wouldn't help this poor man because he'd died ... and his membership automatically lapsed.
-
I've often heard of people dying just after their partner - e.g. James Callaghan died only 11 days after his wife - so maybe it's true.
-
I guess this is a near miss of sorts.
