    Julian Assange

It hasn't been proved that he raped anyone. Also very convenient that this accusation from Sweden, a country with an extradition treaty with the US, happens to emerge just at the point that Wikileaks gains maximum exposure from leaking all those secret US documents...

    The Dead Of 2010

a suicide like this is hardly tragic, he was 95 and therefore gonna die soon anyway. So by those standards, if a child of 12 with cancer is 'gonna die soon anyway' it won't be tragic if they jump to their deaths from a 5th storey window? Yes that would be tragic, it's always tragic if a 12 yr old kid dies. A 95 year old man, not so much.

    I Destroy the Royal Family

I did hear that it used to belong to saint - so I suppose that makes up for it... If that thing was a saint, then I'm Pope F**king Benedict! you're f**king Pope Benedict? How old are you...?

    Osama Bin Laden

The article says "France unable to confirm Bin Laden's death". How on earth is this a reliable indicator of his demise?

    Milton Friedman

It's all a matter of demand and supply. If enough people demand Friedman's death, the price on his head will rise so much that an assassination is inevitable.

    Steve Irwin

One of the best "ironic" deaths for a long time. After successfully grappling with most of the world's dangerous animals for many years, he becomes only the third person ever killed by a stingray in Australia. Strange but somehow fitting.

    Margaret Thatcher

Interesting article, but a rather narrow view of quality in dictators political leaders. It's a fine example of Whiggish history: judging people by our current standards, rather than those of their days. This snub towards Chamberlain is a nice example: I have no problem with this assesment of Eden, but in NC's case there's no way that a PM who preferred peace to war could have won that match. While I have no admiration for NC's policy of appeasement towards Hitler and, more seriously, his betrayal of Czechoslovakia, he had no way of knowing what Mr H had in mind. regards, Hein If Chamberlain gets 0 for failing to avert a war, then Bliar should get at least -5 for leading us into a war on false premises.

In what way is the (soon to be) Shrek trilogy 'like a one hit wonder'? In the same way that dinnerladies is 'like a comedy' I'd wager. Shrek tried to be a one hit wonder and failed desperately ?

I thought this was what it was all about. That seems to be the sort of event which gets the British media most excited anyway. and for once I thought this kind of thing was going to be avoided.... wishful thinking i guess.
