Jerry Hall not divorcing Murdoch after all... Maybe she's realised she gets more as a widow than a divorcee.

Is 28 years since the death of Kay Petre*, racing driver who memorably contested the title of fastest woman at Brooklands with Gwenda Stewart in the 1930s. Born in Canada, she was educated in England, returning to Canada in her 20s; as a young widow, she remarried English solicitor & pilot Henry Petre who introduced her to racing cars. She held the Brooklands lap record 3 times, 124mph in a Bugatti, then a Delage at 129.58mph, both in 1934, then in 1935, once more in the Delage, reascing 134.75mph (broken three days later by Stewart at 136.95mph). She was a fixture around the circuits until 1937, when practising for a 500k race in an Austin Seven, she was shunted by Reg Parnell, causing her to crash, whereby she was seriously injured, and never raced competitively again. She turned to journalism, and whilst in France covering the 1939 Monte Carlo rally, was involved in another accident, in which her passenger Reggie Empson was killed, and she was badly injured; she, along with the lorry driver also involved, was charged with manslaughter, though proceedings were halted by her return to the UK and the subsequent outbreak of war. Empson's widow, Stella, began civil proceedings, settling out of court. Post war she was employed as a 'colour consultant' by Austin. Following the death of her husband, she remained in London, dying in a Camden care home in 1994, aged 91. *Not to be confused with Kay, Peter.

Possibly Overton Ward, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. (Unless he was discharged to die at home/hospice).

I've never read, or indeed watched, any Raymond Briggs (what I have seen/heard of (the animated film) The Snowman, I find as corny as he did), but it would be impossible not to have been aware of him. I like this, from a 2012 Radio Times interview, on The Snowman, life and death. (as quoted in The Guardian).

An early childhood crush of mine, from when she was a 'wholesome' family entertainer, loosely romantically linked with Cliff (on account of the fact that she always seemed to be a guest on his show). All the way back to If Not For You & Banks of the Ohio.

Its fifteen years since the death of Joybubbles. Born blind, Josef Carl Engressia Jr. developed an early interest in telephones. At age 7 he discovered that by whistling into the phone he could activate certain operator switches; this evolved into a sideline during his student days, whereby "Whistler", as he was nicknamed, sold long-distance phone calls to how fellow students for $1 each. A Canadian operator reported him and he was suspended from University (though later reinstated and graduated). As a result of childhood sexual abuse, he reverted to a childlike sate in 1988, claiming that he was 5 years old, and legally changed his name to Joybubbles in 1991. In 1998 he travelled to Pittsburgh to listed to several hundred Mister Rogers' Neighborhood episodes from the archive. He ran a phoneline in the 80's called Zzzzyzzerrific Funline, which had the distinction of being the last listing in the directory. He died aged 58, with natural causes cited as cause of death, contributed to by congestive heart failure on his death certificate, though no definitive cause has been disclosed. He's named as an early inspiration of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and has been the subject of many newspaper, magazine and radio features, including BBC radio's A Call From Joybubbles.

The whole site is littered with nobodies, but I expect there's at least one Emmerdale fan out there who might have missed the news. -
I'd like to think you're right, but nothing would surprise me these days.

Emmerdale actor (2 episodes according to IMDB) Sam Gannon died suddenly while visiting family in US. -
Very good point - Presenters/panelists should still be admissible IMO.

Thirty-nine years since the death of German singer/performance artist Klaus Nomi (nee Sperber). Born in Germany in the latter stages of the war, he worked as an usher at the Deutsche Oper, entertaining colleagues with songs after performances. He also sang opera at the gay disco Kleist Casino. He emigrated to USA in 1972, settling in New York, performing off-Broadway and coming to the attention of the East Village arts fraternity with his performance of Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix from Saint-Saens' Samson & Delilah. He, along with friend and fellow performer Joey Arias, was selected by David Bowie to appear as performer/backing singer on a 1978 edition of Saturday Night Live. Nomi died aged 39, from complications caused by AIDS, one of the first arts figures to die so.

Aled Owen, bit-part player who was on the books for five years (1953-58) but only played once, for Spurs before departing for Ipswich Town, has died aged 82. He played 30 times for Alf Ramsey's side (over a similar period), winning the Second Division title in 1961, before winning the First Division the following season (played 8 and 1 league game respectively in those seasons). Finished his career at Wrexham and Holyhead.

John Steiner, British actor who retired in the 90s, has been killed in a car accident in La Quinta CA. He was 81. He appeared in the original (Peter Cook & Dudley Moore) Bedazzled, and in the pseudo-porn film Caligula (with Helen Mirren & Malcolm McDowell) and was popular in Italy, relocating there. When the Italian film industry dwindled, he retired and moved to California, where he became a real estate salesman.

Hypothetically, if someone sends in a team at 5 minutes to 6 CST, which is a duplicate of one already submitted, but the original entrant is in Europe and already in bed and therefore didn't find out about it until they get up the following day, what would happen? (As the deadline has passed?)
