Today is the 94th anniversary of Roger Moore's birth, and twitter is awash with people wishing him "Happy Birthday". Why do they do this? He's been dead for 4 years so it's unlikely to be. I believe people have been guilty of the same on this very forum.

Things like these really annoy me: Exhibit 1: from the headline, its apparent that the police were called regarding a body in the water, then a man died falling in the canal. Reading the report, its obvious that this isn't what happened at all, and is as one would suspect, i.e. the presence of a dead body in the water was what prompted the call to the police. Exhibit 2: the conjunction 'as' implies that the two events were simultaneous, while clearly event one happened first triggering event 2.

Ivan Johnson, a former team mate of Imran Khan during 4 seasons with Worcestershire in the 70s, has died following a cardiac arrest aged 68. He combined his cricketing career with that of Journalism, working as a trainee reporter at The Tribune in his native Bahamas during the off-season , taking over as chief reporter in 1976 when the incumbent abruptly left. In 1990 he started his own newspaper, The Punch.

Customer services. Specifically, those related to online services. 'Live chat' has seemingly been replaced with 'chat-bots' or just a drop-down list of faqs and if there's actually a telephone number to call which will actually connect you with a real person, you spend interminable minutes/hours on hold listening to the same recorded message every 30 seconds telling you that your call is important to them. Even after all that, there's no guarantee your query will get answered satisfactorily.

I watched The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret recently (Britbox). I'd never heard of it before and I've no idea why I started watching it (might have been because Sharon Horgan's in it), but I'm glad I did, seasons/series 1 & 2 especially. Cringe comedy at its finest (It won't be everyone's cup of tea but if you liked Ricky Gervais before he became a twat you'll enjoy it).
