Surprise! New single out, soon to be followed by a new album.

Founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival Claude Nobs is in a coma after a skiing accident.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the death of Trevor Howard. Probably best remembered for Brief Encounter and for playing a host of 'stiff-upper-lip' British types, he also starred as Sir Henry in Viv Stanshall's Sir Henry at Rawlinson End.

Meantime, Marjorie Ruddle, one of the world's oldest siblings, has died aged 105. (On Boxing Day, so don't get too excited).

How's yer health? -
I've already started saving the train fare. Mines a pint o' heavy!

Not very many people I've heard of have died on my birthday, Robert Moog and Benigno Aquino being the two most famous. I was however born on the 20th anniversary of Trotsky's death.

No, you can't ban guests, after all don't most of the members occasionally post as a guest just for a laugh? Oh Just me then...

I probably do. Still, you get the gist of it.

I suspect that may depend on who it is, and what time of day it happened. An announcement on the BBC (or other qualifying news-source) website would suffice, and if, say, Maggie dropped, or HM or Phil went, there's a pretty good chance one would be up more or less straight away if it were Ronald Coase or Lindsay Lohan, we might have to wait a bit longer.

I'm sure there must be some medication or counselling available for that. Edit - my 2000th post and its some pathetic joke about Bobby Davro. Oh the shame.

One of my picks for 2011 (Ronald Wolfe) died 18th December but no obit was forthcoming until January Did I feel aggrieved at missing out on the points? Not that much, and I soon got over any disappointment when the 2012 competition got under way. I understood the rules when I entered; it is when all's said and done, a bit of fun. As an academic exercise, maybe someone could have a look at the last couple of years or so and see if allowing early-next-year obits would have made any difference to the final result.

The Uruguyan goalkeepeer LadIslao Mazurkiewicz has died after a short illness, aged 67. Although considered amongst the best, he's chiefly remembered for being on the wrong end of this Pele manoeuvre during the 1970 Mexico World Cup.

Its long been theorised that the police forces of the UK, and especially the met. are rife with Freemasons; the Freemasons creed is along the lines of 'look after your own', ergo, other Freemasons are deemed untouchable. Or is that just another conspiracy theory? Google 'Freemasonry and the police' to get some idea of said theory. David Icke features quite a lot in Freemasonry conspiracy theories.

Officers from Operation Yewtree - set up in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal - arrested one man, aged 53, at an address in Hampshire. Scotland Yard said the arrests were not connected to the allegations made against the late BBC presenter. Nout to do with Saville then? Nick nick? Some one playing the Generation Game I reckon............... Can't be him, - he's a Freemason.

I'd been pondering over Richard Davies too but like you, when it came down to submitting a team I forgot about him. I did the same last year with banjo Barney, who duly died in April.

Seconded, just getting British for a minute...couldn't you take the 2013 Celebrity BB to court under the Trades Descriptions Act? Never having heard of either of these, I checked Wikipedia; Montag once had 10 plastic surgery procedures in a day, and her debut album was called Superficial; she is married to Pratt. It would appear that their celebrity is about the same as Chantelle Houghton's. I don't think I'll won't be watching. I suppose there would be some use to Celeb BB UK, if the location would be Moriusaq, Greenland, and all cameras carefully removed. regards, Hein Now that sounds like a suitable location for I'm a Celebrity...!
