I used to live a few miles from this place, which I thought was a pretty unfortunate name.

I apologise in advance if there's a rap music thread, but this fella Dolla's been shot dead in a mall in LA. Pity, he was twice as good as 50cent. Bigger pity, I saw 'Dollar' at first and thought it meant David Van Day!

Wikipedia has removed the death notice, and I couldn't find any other reports of her death. I did find that New Zealand's oldest woman, Ruby Billings, died recently though.

Blue Ball, Pa anyone? On the subject of childish humour, growing up in Birmingham, I always used to find Small Heath Amateur Gardeners Club incredibly funny.

I don't consider Irish Rugby League players famous so Wayne Kerr qualifies in my book!
-
Probably not too famous but i remember being told about this chap in a school assembly back in the 70's

There's already a thread for munchkins apologies - in my defence I did a search and came up with nothing, though if i search munchkins now i get a list as long as my arm.

One of the last surviving Munchkins Mickey Carroll has died. By a neat coincidence, his family business produces gravestones.

Former Labour leader John Smith QC, died 15 years ago today.

Swine flu hasn't made much of an impact in this locale (save for a few cancelled flights at Gatwck), but we did have this a few days ago.
-
I actually laughed at this - nice one
-
Apparently, those most at risk are the young and healthy, though if you catch swine flu, presumably that makes you unhealthy and lessens the risk?
-
I would, theres at least 2 experiences i can think of, so go for it.

The well-known American actor John Wilkes Booth had an alibi, having died on this day in 1865

As no-one else has commented on it, I loved the cartoon in the "Metro"... As did the Telegraph...

I always liked Jack Jones, even if he was a scouser.

Stumbling across this thread clicked on the wikipedia link and discovered Tuulikki Pietilä died back in February. Couldn't find an English-language obit though, which is a shame as she's mentioned in Tove Jansson's Guardian obit (though spelt Tuulikka Pietelä). Here's a Finnish one instead, from Helsingin Sanomat.

10th anniversary of Columbine shootings

Admittedly the coverage has gone way OTT but try this. If this is her she's a lot more talented than some of the dross the Cowell shows have dredged up so far!

A tragic day for talented American musicians... Linda McCartney Died 11 years ago today.

He was interviewed on local news (I believe it was an extract from a half-hour regional opt-out program) back in February, commenting on the recession. He was strolling about the Sussex countryside and looked in remarkably good health for a man of 90, and seemingly still has all of his mental faculties. I was going to link it, but the itvlocal site is being rebuilt!

I was playing golf with a friend the other day and we caught up with two ladies at the short 13th. They generously let us play through as we were playing faster than them. We reached the green and as my friend was about to putt, one of the ladies teed off and unexpectedly hit an absolutely beautiful shot. Caught my friend full-on. Oh how he screamed, hand between his legs, rolling on the floor in agony. Anyway, the ladies came running up, all apologetic and one of them says, "let me help, I'm a nurse", well my friend was in so much pain he couldn't speak so I said yes for him. She laid him tenderly on his back, carefully undid his trousers, and delicately slid her hand inside. Well, five minutes of gentle massaging and my friend certainly looked better and said to the lady, "thats marvellous, but I still think you broke my thumb!"

IF he comes out! Celebrity?
