I read somewhere that she is continuing to smoke regardless of the lung cancer because she has accepted she is on the way out. That can't be good. Indeed. She is also determined to finish writing her memoir before kicking the bucket, and according to the article she's "working furiously to finish [it]"- which, to me, indicates that she is expecting to 'expire' soon and wants to get it done in a hurry.
