Honorary Oscars to be handed out to David Lynch (fair enough), Wes Studi (eh, makes sense in a "first Native American to win an Oscar" but you should have given one to Russel Means when he was still alive), Geena Davis (wait what?) and Lina Wertmuller. Honorary Oscars are often a "shit, give them something before they croak" and I think that's what we've got here in Wertmuller's case.

The QO will put GUN Away back on top, and all of a sudden the likes of Pete Frates and Clive James become very important for this year's DDP.
-
A life colourful enough that he got a QO from The Times, as well as a full-blown NYT obituary.

DDP pick as well. -
If I was, do you think Michel Delpech would have blanked?
-
As a proud member of the fourth estate, we do often joke that "well, incorrectly reporting someone as dead gets you a lot more traffic than waiting for them to actually die".
-
Absolutely great call with that as a pick then.

Goddamn that's the n***a I be seeing in my sleep.

It's fucked up when your white blood cell count is playing tricks on you.

Fucking hell, Orient just walk from one crisis to another don't they?
-
Former Syrian U21 international goalkeeper Abdul Baset al-Sarout dead at 27. He left the game to become one of the lead commanders in the Bayada Martyrs Battalion, fighting against Assad's army. Should have just opened a pub or advertised crisps.

Still no update on Justin Edinburgh, this from the Orient twitter acct today:

Just heard Good Ol' JR say Finkel is "really under the weather right now" on a podcast.

"Sudden illness" and no comment from the club on the cause... presumably some sort of heart attack?
-
OK, I'll take Verne Wagner, president of the Alliance for Performing Arts at California State University.
-
ffs you're right. That's annoying. Researching now.

Challenge Tour player James Barton dead at 38.

I'm 99.999% sure it'll turn out he died in June GMT, but on the off-chance I'll take Joe Kelly as a back-up captain.
-
Twitter defaults to your timezone, not the timezone of the poster. I thought this might come up because I saw a FB post elsewhere saying he had died "this evening". However, there's eight hours between California and London. I don't think anyone uses the term "evening" for anything before 6pm, so surely Nelstar died, at the earliest, 2/3am GMT?

Fucking hell.

Too late for Reptile to stage a comeback, but some tweets suggesting Maria Falzone is dead?
-
Claims he was once gay but has now "cured" himself.
