The "Robert M. Knight" reported as dying on November 1, 2023 has to be legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight (birthname Robert Montgomery Knight). Must have qualified for SAG-AFTRA due to his appearance in Anger Management?
-
Advertising executive Mary Wells Lawrence, first woman to be CEO of an NYSE-listed company, dead at 95. Was also the inspiration for Peggy in Mad Men.
-
Occasional reminder that the only good piece of political humour in the past 30 years came from the Drawn Together movie:
-
Art Jimmerson, club level boxer, dead at 61. More famously though, and what earns him his place in this thread rather than the boxing one, is that he was one of the eight fighters in the tournament at the first ever UFC event. He was tapped out by Royce Gracie in the first round.
-
Very unexpected to the extent that The Guardian was asking readers to suggest questions for an interview with him at 11:26 this morning.

RIP to a legendary dietician

Another "last ever public appearance" from Jane McAlevey, seemingly her fourth of the past month, this time speaking to the Organizing 4 Power conference via Teams or Skype or something. Looks surprisingly good for someone on their deathbed tbh.

Claims he had a shoot heart attack in his final match, along with his worked one. Up to you how much you believe him.

I knew that Brad Dourif had quasi-retired from acting and was only doing voice stuff from now on (mainly Chucky), but I just saw this recent video of him... he looks absolutely terrible, much older than 74.
-
Phil Hoadley, a kind of proto-Bosman who in 1978 became the first player to use the concept of "freedom of contract" to push through a transfer (Leyton Orient to Norwich), dead at 72.

Never knew his son was in perennial 90s indie no-hopers The Candyskins, every day's a school day.
-
Kiran Shah was in both films as well, but as a stuntman not an actor (doubling for Elijah Wood in the former and various children in the latter).

Spells at Sunderland, in the Netherlands (not for one of the big three teams there), in Turkey (for one of the big teams there), comes back to England for an abortive career restart at QPR, goes to the US to play seven games for Columbus Crew, dies in a car accident aged 43.

Here's a photo of Clary with his mother in 2017: I don't think that's the same person, but I'm shit with faces. -
Was hoping for some funnier tabs tbh, are we really too old for the "how do i take a screenshot" gag?

Dementia afflicted footballers

Dean Windass named as one of the PL players in the 50s suing football authorities over brain damage. Insert your own very obvious joke. -
Winning over $1bn on the lottery should put you past the DDP fame threshold, I'd assume, so feel free to keep tabs on Cheng Saephan, who'll be using a $1.3bn Powerball victory to find a better doctor to treat his cancer.

Billy Reil dead at 44. Very much one of the "oh that guy" types who never got a shot at the big dance but did journeyman work on the indies in the post-ECW/pre-ROH era. Was Trent Acid's original tag-team partner before he went on to form the Backseat Boyz with Johnny Kashmere.

From the "always worth keeping an eye on celebrities selling their house" file: Kate Pierson from the B52s is flogging her Airstream compound.

Wait a couple of weeks for her obits and see if they end with a "is survived by..."

Yep, it's your all-purpose themaninblack-baiting thread to discuss potential cadavers that popped up in The Sopranos, The West Wing, The Wire, Mad Men, Oz, Deadwood, The Shield, Breaking Bad (if you're a pleb who thinks that's an intelligent show) et al. If Ginny Sack carking it gets a Daily Mail obituary, we can probably assume anyone who had a named role on these shows is DDP eligible. Dominic Chianese paying tribute to James Gandolfini is one of those things that just looks weird, like when you saw the Queen Mum at Princess Di's funeral.

First Chaser to die from any international version of the show, I think?

Was still alive 11 months ago at the age of 93, according to this YouTube comment (he was also a dancer who worked on the 1969 TV show Cribbins)
