    Art For Death's Sake

Okwui Enwezor, art critic/historian and curator of the 2015 Venice Biennale, dead at 55. There had been some talk of his cancer in the art world last year.

    Derby Dead Pool 2019

For those on the QO hunt, The Times is clearly cleaning out a backlog. Of the four obituaries published today, three (transgender drone pioneer Bobbi Swan, archaeologist Roger Mercer and Wrecking Crew member Joe Osborn) died in 2018.

Broadway - "the Great White Way"

This is the complete one-off list, including the already dead. Other than Cher, the most likely "next up" surely has to be recurrent skin-cancer's very own Hugh Jackman?

Broadway - "the Great White Way"

Good question. So Rita Moreno is still in sterling health as the One Day at a Time reboot shows (best fixed-camera sitcom since the genre's golden days?) and Mel Brooks could make 100, so we could be looking at the health-issued ALW or Whoopi going first. As for the one-off-an-EGOTters.... Cher is one off, needing a Tony to complete the quartet, and a jukebox musical based on her songs will be eligible for the 2019 Tonys....

Another Cheltenham week... surely this will be the one where Alan Brazil's arteries and/or liver finally go "fuck this shit"? A picture from earlier today, for form-studying purposes.

DDP pick Michael Gielen dead at 91. Obits only in German so far, but I assume an English languager will be along in due course.

Yeah, I saw that story go around first and then be followed up later by the "life support" report. Also, clicking through to IAFD, how the fuck is this legal?

    Gangster, Gangster

Probably the last truly legendary American mob figure. The character of Tony in “West Side Story” was based on him, and a number of crime historians suggest he was one of the two masked gunmen who killed Albert Anastasia.
