The theme tune compilations are on Spotify as well. Here's what "Hippie Jimmy" walked to the ring with: -

Big, big fan of the pre-globalisation take on American pop culture, especially in countries that had poverty and/or dictatorships. Dunno if anyone's seen the documentary "Disco and Nuclear War" but it touches on the same areas and it's just the greatest aesthetic ever as far as I'm concern. It's a world where everything is a Poundland knockoff toy version of the real deal. -

Here are some more wrestlers from "Titanes En El Ring", picked basically at random: Jean Pierre, El Beatle Frances: El Hombre Vegetal: El Ejecutivo: -
World's oldest priest, Jacques Clemens, dead at 108. Was apparently still conducting mass at 105.

That's the end of the NME then. Never forget that it was always shit, it didn't just go shit when you turned 20.

Hey, I missed out on Michel Delpech's obit because the Indie writer who was scheduled to do it died himself. It's a hard world out there.

OK, so with only about 200 bios left to write, I'm moving on to pictures. Which is where you lovely people come in. Getting you to help writing the bios doesn't really save any time. Getting you to help sourcing and cropping the pictures does. So if you have some spare time, can type a celebrity's name into google and then crop it using Photoshop or pixlr.com, let me know. If you've already offered your services, do so again here because I have a shit memory.

Huh? Yeah, answer me that one. So what's the unifying theme among everyone here, everyone on the DDP, and every other schmuck out there going "well... yeah OK, he won a gold medal for rowing in 1972 but does that mean he'll get an obituary?" In one of the other threads I suggested that maybe deadpoolers have a weird mix of tweeness and morbidity about them, I think that holds true. There's something very.... people who could name entire 70s sitcom casts about deadpoolers, but there's also something very "people who know the difference between HH Holmes and Albert Grey" about us. Deadpoolers always struck me as people who went through a period of their life subscribing to the "Fortean Times". The kinds of people who always hold the pen during the pub quiz. I mean if I picture a typical deadpooler I'm imagining guys who look like Viz's "Real Ale Twats" to be honest. I'm clean-shaven and only drink beer if it's cold, fizzy and foreign, so I can't claim any allegiance there, but.... I dunno, loose thread but nobody big is dying and it beats another generic general around here. I'm nearly on the front page for "most posts", I'm allowed to treat this joint as my playground now. You wait until I start an Alexander Imich thread.

Broadway - "the Great White Way"

Ruthie Ann Miles, who won a Tony in 2015 for her performance in The King and I, is currently in critical condition following a car accident in Brooklyn that has killed her four-year-old daughter and another child. -
Centre-half John Kurila, part of the Northampton Town team that rose from the bottom flight to the top flight and back down again in successive seasons, dead at 76.

Can't believe they didn't pick Colonel Sergei Skripal (pending).
-
J Paul Raines, former CEO of GameStop who may have come across some of your radars when he resigned from his post last November to deal with a "recurrent medical issue", dead.
-
Yeah but one of them died and another's got cancer, plus they didn't really do much other than "Summer Girls" and that shitty follow-up.
-
One thing I'm going to flag up on the 10% chance it pays off and I can be all "told you so..." when he carks it: Ru Paul's long-time makeup assistant Mathu Andersen left "Ru Paul's Drag Race" last season and deleted all his social media accounts. Fandom rumours suggest it was to do with a "health condition" - whether that's shorthand for addiction or if he's got two months to live, I can't tell you.

If Marieke turns out to be this year's Frank van den Bleeken, I think you're favourite.

One thing I noticed with the updates (only 280 bios left to go!) is the pick of Ray Merrin, from the very optimistic Watership Down theme team. Mirrin died in January, a few days before he was scheduled to get a special award at the Baftas. The award was still presented posthumously, but seemingly no write-up of the ceremony mentioned him. Poor bastard.

Your first update of March. Not quick enough for Mr Bannister, admittedly...

All Serie A games cancelled today after Astori's death. Got to be the biggest death by a player at the height of his career since....

Corey Struggs, a minor Oklahoma rapper who has become much more famous on certain parts of the internet as the image used in "Big Nibba" memes, has a "rare head and neck cancer" that the meme community is now crowdfunding towards.

Very popular in Japan. Apparently.
