    The dead of 2016

I had that album as a nipper, Christ knows why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SdvhhEeviM

    The dead of 2016

tbh if seven-ten people currently on my longlist don't die between now and January 1st, that's a sign I've not done my research properly.

    Statistics

The 1921 romantic drama The Conquering Power's leads were Rudolph Valentino (died 1926) and Alice Terry (died 1987). 61 years.

Yeah, Flynn pips Gable by one year, although I fancy Day to have more time left on this earth than OdH. I'd have thought the obvious male component here would be Leslie Howard, but I'm drawing blanks looking through his filmography so far.

Was watching Teacher's Pet (1958) the other day, and while my first instinct was "wait, is Gig Young the only murderer to have won an Academy Acting award?", I was later drawn to the fact that while Clark Gable was dead in 1960, Doris Day, who plays his quasi-romantic foil, is still with us in 2016. At least a 56 year gap. Is there any other greater disparities in the years of death between two actors starring as romantic leads in a major movie?

Lee Evans Gambit: (noun) Any leaking of deliberately false, erroneous or misleading data relating to a celebrity's health, with the intent of conning fellow DDP players into picking them.

Michael Douglas trying a Lee Evans Gambit for next year's DDP?

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

You didn't really think "the mother of the current season's main contestant on The Bachelorette Australia" would make it to the 2017 start line did you?

    Death Anniversary Thread

Dutch corsair Cornelis Jol's piracy adventures stopped today in 1641. The legend that all buccaneers have peg legs is said to come from the fame of his own wooden limb, and he was also a direct ascendant of chubby-cheeked ex-Spurs manager Martin Jol.

Well, that one lasted...a week before showing up on the forum! And there goes my other guaranteed 100% BBC obit pick that hadn't been mentioned yet.

I'm still banging the drum for Glynis Johns.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

If we crowdfunded (sigh) the process, how much would we be needing to look at? I can get a quote for a complete programming update for the site, hopefully at (work)mate's rates...

    Coleman Falls?

Dave Lanning dead at 78. Commentated on the first televised nine-darter (John Lowe in the 84 Matchplay), as well as three of the first six. Basically a less try-hard Sid Waddell.

    Hollywood Possibilities

Michael Massee dead at 61. A very minor character actor, but his place in film history will be forever secured as he was the guy who fired the prop gun that killed Brandon Lee.

    Saint V Greavsie

Interview with Saint here, a look back at when Donald Trump did the Rumbelows Cup draw back in 1991. Nothing on Saint's health, but a telling section at the end on Greavsie:

    By-Election Bingo

Depends if the Tories field a candidate or not. Big chance that they don't, Goldsmith stands as an independent with the tacit backing of the local Conservative association and he quietly rejoins the Blues for the 2020 GE. Otherwise, a vote-splitting would let the Lib Dems come up on the rails.

    British Character Actors

Yeah, he was a final ten cut for my DDP side both last year and this year. Definitely survived a lot longer than most men of his age would have with that much cancer.

    Big Brother

I had it in my head that (dead) Sue Carroll was a contestant on one season, but apparently I am incapable of telling her and Carol Malone apart. I doubt I am the only person with this problem.

    Big Brother

Crack-addled Alexander O'Neal and "I'm soooo politically incorrect me" Ken Morley together was not fun viewing.

    FIFA World Cup Players

All pre 74 WC winning captains now dead, all 74 and onwards still with us. Beckenbauer, Passarella, Zoff and Maradona: all have a good chance of being the next name crossed off the list.

    Big Brother

Do we have any evidence Katia Ivanova isn't dead, she basically vanishes off the face off the earth as soon as Nuts magazine shut down.

    Dead Pop Stars

Going back to ol' Bobby Vee, this truly is a stunning video. Really don't know where to start: his short shorts or the dance moves by the girl that seem to mainly involve proffering her pudendum on a motorbike.
