Steven Assanti, who appeared on My 600lb Life, was reported dead earlier this week following an Instagram post on his official account. However, his brother Justin, who also appeared on the show, has now said Assanti isn't dead and was just trying to con people for funeral expenses.

Was also stunned he obitted, but reading it I didn't realise he was now a coach at RB Leipzig. A black armband show from them was always going to make it to QO levels, a good lesson for reading up on everyone who hits the radar.

Many a Deathlist Cup round has featured one outfit getting eliminated despite scoring more than 95% of the teams that make it through, and it looks like that particular luckless side will come from the theoldlady/deadsox tie this time out. Both teams score 3 points with the death of Tim Lobinger, a standout pole vaulter who consistently underperformed at Olympics level and so wasn't likely to get a DDP-level QO. However, plenty of Cup-level write-ups noticed his death at 50 of pancreatic cancer and the aforementioned teams, along with CalebH, do something few other teams seem keen on doing this round: score. Eight ties remain deadlocked at 0-0. Am I right in saying Bob Saget is the only competitor from the US Masked Singer to have carked it?

Uncle of red card magnet Richard.

Apparently enjoyed the hospitality at the Emirates a bit too much last night and hasn't made it in to his TalkSport show this morning.

Duangphet Phromthep, one of the youth footballers who was trapped in a Thai cave back in 2018 and briefly captured the world media's attention, has died aged 17 after sustaining a head injury. He was apparently on a football scholarship in the UK.

I went and took a three-day-long holiday, and still nothing? Whatever happened to the magic of the cup?

Pop culture you've merged in your head

Just realised that Jamie Lidell and James Blake are different people. A Twitter search suggests I'm not alone in this. -
Rare tweet from Britain's premier Cliff Richard impersonator, looks like he's on the clock but I don't hold out much QO hope.

I think there's still a good month window for him in Guardian's "Other Lives" tbh. Nowhere near writing him off as a scorer yet.

Was going over this in my head: how many actual rap groups (three members minimum) who released music in the 80s still have all members alive? The only one I could come up with was Compton's Most Wanted.

Only a few weeks before their classic albums finally come to streaming as well.

Long shot but anyone have any idea if Francine Gottfried is still alive? Seems like after her 15 minutes were over she made a specific effort to stay out of the public eye, perhaps not wanting to tell future children "I was famous for having fat tits".

Oldest Living football league players
Spade_Cooley replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
Was on the books at New Brighton as a teenage but didn't play for them (or at least Wikipedia says he didn't).... a quick bit of Wikipedia intersection searching suggests that Bobby Williams is the only living person to have played a league match for New Brighton before their demotion in 1951. Anyone know better? Edit: or I could have looked at the first post in this thread and found out yes, he is. -
One of the unspoken rules of running a deadpool contest is that you have to leave the decent puns for those running the DDP and the DL frontpage. Thankfully, in the case of Burt Bacharach, there's enough to go around. That's what friends are for, after all. Yep, Mr Bacharach is no longer "anyone who had a heartrate", with the doyen of the American songbook finally succumbing to various long-time ailments aged 94. Pop_Zeus knows what's it all about - they take a four-point lead over Bibliogryphon. JoeMoneypenny 4 vs Dying Probably 0 theoldlady 0 vs deadsox 4 wannamaker 4 vs Sean 0 Pop_Zeus 4 vs Bibliogryphon 0

If this eBay picture of Kayser is titled correctly then that does look a lot like the Max Kayser found in this Facebook photo. Which would mean a) he was definitely still alive in 1988 b) was married to someone called Ursula c) lived in or near the spa town of Bad Salzuflen. Edit: that has to be the Kayser we're looking for on Facebook, there's an LP of violin music behind him on the windowsill.

There was a Christmas video from the same YouTube account last year, and Waldo makes an appearance at 1:50 or so. Again, looks ridiculously good for someone who is 104.

I know it's cliche to say this whenever a football figure dies, but what a team that Croatia 98 side were. They probably would have won the tournament if it wasn't staged in France.

So apparently this happened yesterday but neither the WWE nor the Lawler family put a statement out about it, and it's only made the news now because Ricky Morton tweeted prayers. Makes me think it's pretty serious.

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players
Spade_Cooley replied to Death Watch Beatle's topic in DeathList Forum
So for those of us who plumped for collegiate basketball coaching legend Denny Crum in this year's DDP, we probably saw message board talk that he'd been moved to hospice in early December. This news story from a few days ago, however, says that he's "fighting health issues at home" that mean he's unable to leave his house. How are we interpreting that? I'm guessing that the hospice wasn't fully palliative, and it was just so they could sort his home out so it's comfortable for him to slowly die there over the next few months. -
Only ever released one album, on what appears to be his own label, back in 2006. Presumably he was getting enough RIPs on social media for the Sun to pay attention.

Ah that's a bit more like it. See, we're rolling in cadavers now. Eric Boulanger, aka DJ Bubba Bo, was a 40-year veteran of radio in the Cincinnati area, most notably playing country music to truckers working overnight. He's found himself on a different kind of graveyard shift now though, and wannamaker is trucking on with a four-point lead over Sean. Sidenote: the only QO for Boulanger so far has a brief throwaway mention of his son dying from a bee sting, but the link doesn't mention anything about that and I can't see any news stories about it from the time (2009).
