What Are You Listening To Right Now?

So on my daily commute, Northern Rail, it can take an hour longer than planned I am currently listening to a music podcast https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj55-GMt9nnAhUipnEKHXPwAdQQFjAAegQIAxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.musicfirstpodcast.com%2F&usg=AOvVaw2wAToxFH_J5UjDHSGKM_Du That was a bit long, the podcast is better than radio and quite educational, it shows up generation gaps and introduces new sounds well worth a listen.

The Next Leader of the Opposition

So I'm just starting to watch Newsnight and I'm forming some opinions. At the referendum my opinion of the general British population was confirmed. Racist, uneducated out of touch. Following there has been a lack of focus except for to get it done. Labour have no plan but borrow. Conservatives are doing the same. The major problems are caused by lack of social interaction, HR, expectations, you should not expect a vehicle, mobile phone etc unless you can afford it. On HS2 it takes me an hour and a half to travel 12 miles on public transport if it is not cancelled, better local provision will make a bigger impact and improve the lives for more people. Politicians promise but fail to implement and then resort to enquiries nobody is ever responsible. On Newsnight they still seem out of touch and clueless. Kier Starmer on the quality within the NHS was a notable exception as a Tory myself he seems decent.

The Next Leader of the Opposition

Rebecca Long-Shot-Bailey seems to be the way forward, a mass resignation of labour MPs would put the final nail in the coffin for the labour party.

    Coronavirus death toll 2020

Interestingly this years Royal Institution Christmas lectures were maths based and the first lecture had a few examples of infectious diseases and their spread. It was interesting to watch. BBC4 Iplayer

The Next Leader of the Opposition

I see Sir Kier Starmer currently has thirteen votes, probably enough to get him in given the inevitable spoilt votes and abstentions.

    Cure for Cancer....

Look at this as not just a cure for cancer but also step towards to other genetic problems that cause issues for lots of people who suffer with no current solutions to their current status. Kudos to the scientists who pursue these routes.

    Terry Jones

I attended a lecture on Chaucer's Knight at university given by Terry Jones in the early eighties, he was an inspiring communicator on his love of medieval history and it's place in the modern world. RIP Mr Jones. The comedy was pretty good as well.

The Next Leader of the Opposition

The Labour Party and the candidates Who are they appealing to? Where is the credibility? Which socialist model do they follow? (who is going to run off with all the money if there is any left?) Overall delusions of competence, track record of failure. How efficiently are all of the Labour councils run, they employ expensive consultants to advise because they can't do the job, then because they supervise them they need to be paid more. The reason that Parliament did not want brexit was that they would become more responsible and not have to rely on Europe. I had a friend (amazing but true) whose sister worked for a MEP, expense claims were not queried beneath £500 in the eighties, the situation is bad as many years later the value of expense claims that have not received audit clearance have risen and MEPs have suppresed reports on investigations. If you go abroad there is evidence of European, law especially health and safety, being widely ignored in the UK we follow it. We need to stop bowing to the snowflakes, take care of those that need it and create more social integration by banning internet and mobiles from the under 25's. Discuss.

The Next Leader of the Opposition

I'm not entirely sure what relevance the leadership race has at the moment. Labour need policies, a sense of reality and a cohesive force to push things forward. This will not happen with negative career politicians whose sole aim is to milk the system take no responsibility and criticise any who do. We have to remember that most local services are labour mismanaged and yet criticism is aimed at central government. In many cases councils and government bring in expensive consultants who are poorly supervised and directed but must be overseen by even more expensive managers. This unfortunately is the best example of the Peter Principle. I think we need some middle ground with masters who have not been to public school and studied PPE at Oxbridge or their equivalent.
