Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?
Bert Trautmann replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
What's wrong with Foulkes? All I can find is he has a long-term illness, which doesn't seem like much to go off but people are treating him as a banker -
Yeah, I've got rid of her...my team looks much weaker than it did at the start of the month though
-
Is she likely to get an obit now the story behind her has gone away?
-
What do we reckon to Brian Shivers? He's one of the last ones I'm debating over for my team, he's very old for someone with Cystic Fibrosis but if he's lasted 46 years why not 47, or will prison finish him off?

DDP becoming more and more wide open

I've put in some effort with research this year, I'm optimistic about my team but you just know it won't work out as simply as you think...still mulling over half of them! Cleared out my entire team from this year I think, although Yoshida and Misch aren't out of the question...

A pick for someone braver than me... NBA referee Greg Willard has pancreatic cancer -
RIP Ravi Shankar. Another nailed on list names dies. That's 4 gone in the last week or so. But you can't count anything as 19. Don't work like that. I think he's saying that the amount of DL names that have died this year is 19. The 12 this year, plus Geoffrey Hughes, Ernest Borgnine, Dom Mintoff, Ravi Shankar, Gore Vidal, Sir Patrick Moore, & somebody who I'm forgetting. You forgot Alex Higgins Who died two years ago. Peter Falk has Alzheimer's.

wow, they only named 4 of the 8 people that died on my list. They didn't name Dick Clark, Sherman Helmsly, Leonardo Cimino, or Vidal Sassoon. I think a hairdresser may have looked a little out of place

The important part of the article is she has stopped treatment........ Only conventional treatment -
Ideas And Possibilities For 2013

I think because of all the singing stuff she'll probably get an obituary, but it says she's been receiving treatment for six years so not necessarily that likely to die next year -
I'd wondered exactly the same thing. Her Tumblr account suddenly stops two months ago, and the website she was working on isn't fully up either. So either she's carked it and nobody's told us, she's incapacitated somehow, or she's just gotten bored of the internet and found something more productive to do. Grace ESL is apparently receiving care at home right now. I'd assume she gets the requisite obituary, but who knows? The story there was a right-to-die battle, if she's just going to slink off in her sleep one night maybe that isn't news. In that case, Jo Bryant's off my team which I'm quite pleased about because I want as few nobodies as possible...but I will have a lot of other debatable ones, it might not feel right but I want to compete. I'm considering removing Grace ESL because she might not get the obituary now the actual story behind her has disappeared...at the moment it's pretty much Anne Williams, Andrew André and Lisa Lynch (sorry Spade, shamelessly stolen...) in the absolute nobody stakes

Doesn't really matter if he makes 2013 or not, DDP-wise, any team worth their salt will have him included
-
Not quite sure where this belongs so move if applicable please.... Bishop Walter Sullivan has liver cancer Obituary chances quite low I suspect

Who Should Be On The 2013 Deathlist?

Few ideas... Gabriel Garcia Marquez - I think he should make a return given his mix of dementia and lymphoma (although in remission (?)), his brother's comments on him this year seem really grim so he'd be a perfect type of pick next year. Patrick Moore - I can't believe he's held on this long to be honest, in deteriorating health and appearing on Sky at Night more and more infrequently, also perfect for a return. Bobby Collins - Football legend suffering from dementia, would fill a gap in the football area of the list I reckon Clive James & Michael Winner - Classic deathlist material and very ill (probably in Clive James' case) Reg Presley - Lung cancer, famous enough -
Bugger, was hoping that'd stay on the Bollywood gossip blogs and not make it to wider promenance. It's early stage though isn't it? I can't imagine she'll die next year

Stephen Hawking for a big Christmas death

Sure seems that way, it's why the tragic life story picks in the DDP rarely get an obituary once they've actually died. Saying that, I'm going with a few risky picks next year...
-
I think you've been unlucky there, I'm surprised she hasn't been mentioned anywhere given the amount of controversy surrounding it...I guess now the press have hounded Cook out there not interested...
-
A way off my 10th place debut year, hoping for massive improvement next year...particularly a better choice of joker

Curses I think any of us who thought that was going to be a unique pick in the 2013 DDP were being a little optimistic. Not unique but the fewer people who pick her the better, I suppose... -

Ray Price's cancer is in remission so I wouldn't go with him despite it being pancreatic cancer. Clive James should probably go on but I'm not convinced he's terminally ill either, when all that news about him 'dying' came out he moved quickly to deny it and he's still writing regularly since then. I think Bert Trautmann would be a decent Deathlist pick myself... -
