Like Neil Young I take no pleasure in his death, but this is my second hit in 2 days!
-
Neil Young has passed, RIP.
-
No surprise, he's gone. Bert Trautmann's DDP joker (national press coverage near-enough certain even if Hosni Mubarak is strung up in central Cairo tonight), and an impressive 662 Deathrace points into the bargain. Respect! Although he's my DDP joker I take no pleasure in the passing of a City legend, he lived much of his post-football career in poor conditions and never got the recognition that other legends like Bell, Lee and Summerbee did from the same era, until he was diagnosed with cancer. At least the we got to show our appreciation once he was diagnosed, I suppose. RIP Neil Young. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9386667.stm - Obituary just in case it was needed

Being a member of an MCFC forum certainly helped me find out about it...it hasn't be that well-publicised until recently but the club itself have been doing a lot of fundraising and tributes to Neil Young so that's probably how word spread. One unique pick for me, Tanya Jones, bit of a punt but you never know...

I'd put my money on some time this evening, asssuming Bellender gets the finger out, sterling fellow that he is. edit: It's up now more or less. I haven't worked out the points yet for the recent departed but it looks as though Ten STiff Bowling is in the lead at the moment. Can everyone please check their team in case I've missed any unique picks (the orange dots next to the names; potatoes actually)? /edit 2 teams picked Mick Karn who died the other week, everything else looks in perfect order though! Also my pick of Neil Young is the footballer too not the singer, I'm sure I specified that but the table says otherwise, it doesn't matter if it can't be fixed but just as a point of trust my name is a former MCFC footballer just like Neil Young!

Bert van Trautmann. That officially makes Bert dutch.
-
How very convenient...
-
I don't know any famous Dutch people likely to die so I'll just have to go for the most famous people in the world... Margaret Thatcher Aretha Franklin Nelson Mandela Christopher Hitchens Jan Jongbloed Dick Cheney Ayatollah Khamenei Betty Ford Queen Beatrix Armgard Johannes Heesters Poor effort but might as well

You're kidding me?! Not Gerry!

2 hits already! Early lead Vinegar Tits, just 360 days to hang on...
-
Try something different, Anna Wing will be next!

Looks like no-one got Mr. Rafferty

Beat me to it... Looks like it's gonna be a good year for Deathlist! Now to wait for Zsa Zsa... Well at least I found out about his illness in time for my shadowlist, but that's scant consolation! Ah well you live (or not) and learn. As for Zsa Zsa she is on my DDP...I wouldn't wish death on most people, but you know...she's had a good innings...
-
Dead I didn't even know he was ill until I'd already entered my team, missed opportunity there, especially as most people seem to have him on their DDP...
-
You're intent on posting pointless questions or inane remarks on every thread, aren't you? Nothing wrong with that. I've made a career of it... hahaha, maybe i'm being a bit harsh but it seems like he's gone through each deathlister and methodically posted anything he can think about them, I can't think why other than to boost the post count but who cares about that?

Gone, for no logical reason, for John Edrich.
-
I like it!
-
Paul McCartney!?!? Shame on you... Good list otherwise
-
Here's my attempt: 1. Neil Young (former footballer) 2. Hitchens 3. Biggs 4. Megrahi 5. Thatcher 6. Sharon 7. Falk 8. Geoffrey Hughes 9. Zsa Zsa 10. Hazel Hawke 11. John Higgins snr. 12. Vasily Aleksanyan 13. José Alencar 14. Yao Defen 15. Tanya Jones 16. Steve Prescott 17. Hawking 18. Aretha Franklin 19. Donald Neilson 20. Clive Derby-Lewis Was hoping Tanya Jones and Neil Young would somehow be unique picks, there's still a chance with Tanya but Neil has gone!
-
Gutted! I was hoping Neil Young was going to slip by everyone and be a unique pick on the DDP, damn you Paul the Postie (and probably several others)!
-
I agree with Graham, but to be fair Castro's health has been improving for a while now. If age doesn't matter points-wise, I wonder why Frank Buckles wasn't included? Frank Buckles is famous for being ill...if one considers extreme old age an illness. The listmakers don't choose people who are famous for being ill. I suppose, but being the oldest verified war veteran is a decent claim to fame? Not that it matters, it's still a good list, possible record-breaker...
-
I think it's safe to say...congratulations and a happy new year!

Indeed Hoping for 2 unique picks, one of which is a guaranteed obit and death, just praying no-one else has discovered said person!
