We already have one thread for the recently shagged. Two would feel like overkill. Or sexual frustration! -

Careful, he might kill himself, you know, like that time Chris Brown topped himself for beating up Rihanna... Wait a minute, you're tell me Brown instead had 27 UK top 40 hits and 2 number 1s since then? Who knew casual deadpoolers of 2010 could be so wrong? -
Of all the things I expected to see in the first new post on here, that was certainly not it. Also, use of the word shagging will have Gooseberry swooning like a Jane Austen character any moment now... Between the Queen having cancer and the One Direction chap topping himself, I can't wait to see Crem's 2022 teams...

Not poorly enough, for my liking!

I was certain she'd get a Yahoo obit, but here comes The Suns algorithm chasing!

And there goes another shortlister before Hallowe'en even.

Oh certainly famous enough in my book. The funny thing about Biddy Baxter is she has a reputation for having terrified the shit out of BBC executives for decades. (There's a reason none or close to it of the Blue Peter archive episodes are missing for example.) So you build an idea in your head when yer young of this legendary terrifying woman. That image was nothing like this:

Thoughts and Opinions on the 2021 Deathlist

Oh I'm usually a cynical bastard but I do bloody love Michael Palin. Always have. He was also really nice to me once when he had no need to be, so yeah, long may he live. Attenborough will be a sad one, but I'm also aware he's had a long and relatively happy life too, which is nice. I like to think you prepare yourself for some of these people going (Tom Baker for example requires a lot of mental preparation), but then I found you can get completely blindsided by folk you never even thought you would pre-death. Like this last week or so I've been properly fucked off by Peter Scolari's untimely death. I hadn't thought of him in years, but I loved his stuff when I was a kid. -

Captain Tom? Harmless old man who seemed to genuinely want to help folk but was used by others to further their agendas. When he was interviewed he came across as a frail old man who'd recently suffered a head injury (which he had) and went downhill rapidly as he kept being thrust into the spotlight. I think that might be the charitable version of what you posted, actually. Ball seems well for his age, Smith is aging but compared to Maggie Smith (also, don't her and Judi Dench strike you as future DL legends?), and let's not jinx my hero Michael Palin, thanks. Cribbins looked horribly frail when I last saw him on TV, going to be a sad day when he goes. @gcreptileI see what you did there! -
My aunt died in this fucking October. I mean, she wasn't famous (except to me) and you didn't know her and I'm not mad or anything but you know, the "no one is dying" meme is always open to being a bit of an own goal tbh.

One for the notable WW2 vets as I'll forget about it. Sir David Butler was in the army in 1944 as part of the British army in Belgium. (As a tank commander in fact, although he claims he wasn't a very good one.) Probably not DLy but certainly a huge favourite of mine.

That Tom Moore/Anthony Sher connection, eh? For Greaves, Bobby Charlton feels likely. Alagiah (that obscure name in the UK, hah) over Turnbull, though they could pick both. As for Limbaugh replacement - James Whale? Otherwise, from public forum names, I could see Alan Igglesden (they love cricket, I know little of it, this may show here), Frank Field and maaaybe Tom Weiskopf or Chuck Wepner getting a nod. In your wheelhouse, Glynis J and E M Saint are overdue DL debuts, although of course they were good omissions so far due to not actually dying yet. Betty White's in the never leaving list now, there till she drops. Likely Lansbury too, and I think June Brown is getting to that stage. Nolan and Doherty are on my DDP shortlist, which probably tells you what I think about their spots on a 50 pick list! I've been predicting Marianne Faithful in your game for years. She just feels like a DL pick. I suspect one of the Stones will show up after Charlie Watts death. Wyman? Joan Collins and Claire Bloom are nearing their DL debuts too, although - cross fingers - both seem in good nick still. I could waffle about this for too long, so one name that is a bit off the usual suspects but which feels like the sort of name the Cmme might go for? Ray Reardon, snooker player of note, who turns 90 next year. -
One of this guy's old shows (Floyd on France) is on Iplayer right now. I've been working my way through it and its incredible.

Lawson looked like an off key sneeze would finish him off for ages. This is going to be like Dawn/Booth in the end., where all these long term Tory names go pretty much at the same time. -

Nigel Lawson has been deadpoolers fools gold for me for about a decade now. Ah, Bill Rodgers. Grimly amusing that the two surviving members of the Gang of Four are the loudest (David Owen) and the quietest (Rodgers) individuals! -

Well, first things, I don't expect to win the Scavengers, there are a lot of good sides in there and not even one of my subs in the last category has snuffed it yet. Second, on the off chance I ever did, I'd pick stuff I like, but...which have blatantly useful Wiki pages/lists or threads on here for those who know nothing about the topic. -

Oh ok, if needed I'll send you a rugby one instead of Doctor Who... (This is a lie.) -
Everything you expected, of course, but still one of the glorious kids TV moments.

It helps if you remember the DL is made by a bunch of Brits in their mid-50s who clearly had a love for US TV imports of the 70s/80s. Btw, Francoise Hardy had 3 UK top 40 hits in the 1960s here. I know of her because she's a music name but she's considerably less famous here than in France. Tom Smith? I suspect at least one 90s rugby fan on the Cmme tbh! Either that, or they saw he was ill on an internet forum. -

Aye, since when has George Alagiah not been a household name in the UK? He was presenting the main news when I was a wean, and still is. Easily passes the "Has Mum heard of them?" test. -

They might pick Gehry - but they didn't pick IM Pei. Fontaine is very famous but not the sort of name they go for (football, Biblio, football). Kundera, well, we struggle to get far more famous writers on the list! (I assumed you'd note Vitti and Solow, neither of whom seem like DL picks in the slightest.) -

My flop DDP pick Bruce Reid was an outlier. He lasted 22 months. That would only take de Klerk as far as January 2023. Kate Williams (the BBC radio presenter) has had it for a while but she was a lot younger than the average sufferer and they caught it at a surprisingly early stage. -

November and December tend to be home to 1 or 2, yes (well 1 or 3, never 11 without the 12th, remember) but you can't know who in advance.
