Yeah, but... we did have a nasty surge of norovirus here in the UK in November-January, and an unusually severe cold bug in early February (after we knew about coronavirus) that wasn't coronavirus. People will likely have caught this thing without noticing but its also as likely folk are now attributing their allergies or normal cold bugs a few months ago to "oh did I have coronavirus instead?".

Radio producer Hamish Wilson has died of coronavirus aged 77. Was also in a number of TV shows in the 60s-70s, including Doctor Who as an alternate reality Jamie in The Mind Robber.

Concerned in that I'd rather not catch it and die, especially as the government keep pointing out I'm on the vulnerable list, but I'm not sitting around waiting for it to get me. I'm sitting around watching Netflix instead. I certainly think there's a lot of folk with undiagnosed heart issues and the like, LFN. I also think the reason it went nuts with 50-60 year olds in Iran is because that's folk who lived through Saddam gassing the fuck out of everyone in the 80s, so likely there's a lot of lung issues there in their older generations.

Good point, actually. Ok everyone, pretend I never posted this information.

Hah I was thinking he sounded a neverland case - too healthy for the Cup, too ill for the next DDP.

The Scavenger Hunt may need to be finished off by our grandchildren at this rate!

Ah good, Drol, now, there's a new Cup round on the 1st so I'm relying on your ability to dig out Asian politicians on life support in the next few days.

I tried to pick old and frail for the Grammy category, and have given the kiss of life to Ella Jenkins, Roy Haynes, Jean Cussac and Alan Bergman instead.

I don't think you ever pick "Bad" teams per say, just a variety of folk who could easily die but seem to survive that particular month. I feel one year this will average out and you'll get 5 or 6 in the one month, I'm just glad it wasn't against me!

Sorry, Biblio. I was aiming to avoid a RoverandOut incident, not to intentionally sqounk one of the nicer forum members. Guess I should start thinking about a showdown next round with Sir Creep.

Aye, same! Btw, "one lump sum in June" for those who are entitled to this. Bet that'll really help their bills and rent and what not.

I am just old enough to remember the thrill of a new UK chart count down each week (and number one is...Wet Wet Wet again). I used to watch TOTP with Mum, and be amused by her "rubbish, rubbish, Bowie did it better, rubbish, oh that's a good one actually" reactions. Hell, if they hadn't axed TOTP (stupid decision) and not replaced it with a similar chart count down show on the Beeb (stupid decision) then I'd probably still follow the UK charts better now. And my reaction would like be: rubbish, rubbish, Bowie did it better, rubbish, oh that's a good one actually. I like this thread and its cavalcade of unearthed gems.

That's the one. "Uploaded 2017" - OK, maybe a wee bit longer since my last look than I'd assumed...

There was a good Spitting Image sketch I can't find online, where the Queen sings I Will Survive on karaoke, but changes the line to "As long as Charlies next in line, I've got to stay alive!"

Betty Williams (the Nobel Prize winner) died of "sudden viral pneumonia" after still being quite active. iirc they never tested her, but you can probably guess what folk think did for her.

Bowie did have a top ten hit when alive when Where Are We Now came out, mind you. But that's not till 2013. -

Am amused that a reasonable Pepys facsimile is ruined by the reference to "Her Majesty's men". -
There are quite a few Tom Lehrer fans on this forum, myself included. Beyond the super obvious Poisoning Pigeons in the Park and We'll All Go Together When We Go, I'm quite fond of Lobachevsky and The Irish Ballad. One morning in a fit of pique She drowned her father in the creek The water tasted bad for a week And we had to make do with gin, with gin We had to make do with gin He has been reclusive for years so finding out modern info on him is difficult. He did appear in a rare current photo in 2018 however.

Sad news. Asterix is one of the great cultural creations of the 20th Century imo.

That's Reptiles job once or twice weekly, it'll be sorted ASAP, worry not. I left P-orridge, Freeman Dyson and Von Sydow as I felt they deserved longer pieces. And James Lipton because I forgot about him and went "Oh fuck he can wait till later".

Heyyy I wrote 15 of them yesterday. Some of rather higher quality than others, admittedly.
