Labour have lost the by-election to replace Stabber Watson to the Lib Dems. Council by-elections are usually decided on highly parochial things and this one appears to have been decided on how shit the previous Labour man, Stabber, was! Oops. It's a local, don't put too much into it. Just a wee aside.

Ramsey got a hat-trick. Just taking the piss, now.

Oh that is bad luck, Mr Creptile! But good luck anyhow.

Aha! *Adds Coolio (of Gangsters Paradise fame) to my shortlist

If anyone remembers his short and abysmal run as a sort of Mean Gene type in the WWE a decade ago, it was obvious something was up even then. Stumbling over names, struggling to form sentences. He was getting mocked at the time too. And now we're a decade on from that.

Yes! Barys Kit had a remarkable life. He was a highly respected mathematical genius, whose knowledge of maths (notes for the over 50s here - arithmetic ) and missiles came in use for the US Space Programme, for whom he helped develop their spacecrafts and routes. He lived to 108, which was bloody good going when you consider he was due to be executed as a partizan by the Nazis in his native Belarus way back in the 1940s! In later years, he spoke out in favour of Belarussian democracy, but Lukashenko outlives him, though Kit did admittedly have a massive head start there, age wise. Anyhow, after a long and interesting life, Kit's last act here is to give 3 points a piece to Pedro and Yorkshire Banker. Now both of these results are very interesting. Pedro quite possibly upset the apple cart in Round 1 last season by demolishing the fancied Jireomon Kimura, who you might recall went on to win the Alt Obits Deadpool, no small feat. However, this time, he is taking on The Dead Cow, a hot tip for the DDP itself, and a deadpooler who took Death Impends to the very limit in the last 16 last year. Early days, but Pedro goes 3-0 up. In the second tie, there has been a lot of talk about a second round show down between perennial rivals Grim Up North and Joey Russ. Mostly from Grim Up North and Joey Russ, of course. However, to get there, you do have to win your first round tie, and so, to paraphrase the analysis from earlier in the thread, Grim's cancer suffers are 3-0 down to the Yorkshire Bankers old geezers! Still far too early in the month to talk of upsets, but it's a different start. Elsewhere, Rover's men must be feeling slightly confident after keeping 0-0 with Spade in the nervy opening 5 minutes of the contest, whilst the "too close to call" games of Charon/Maryport and Young Willz/Engineer remain goalless, as do others in this early going. 1. Charon (Unrepentant) vs Maryportfuncity (Inter Youngboys FC) 0-0 2. Pedro (Trottingbum Hotsores) vs The Dead Cow 3-0 3. Young Willz (Glasgow Ron Weasley Ed Sheeran Slash Fanfiction Thistle Wanderers United) vs The Engineer 0-0 4. Grim Up North (Going Going GUN) vs Yorkshire Banker 0-3 5. Msc vs Wormfarmer 0-0 6. Spade Cooley (Great Railway Journeys with Hughie Gallacher and Robert Enke) vs Roverandout 0-0 7. Joey Russ vs Garn (Video Assistant Reaper) 4-0 8. Bibliogryphon (Bye Bye Biblio) vs Phantom of the Midway (AKA Rad Guy) 0-0 9. Sean (Shaun of the Dead’s Magical Funeral Parlour) vs Fixed Business (Business Fixed) 0-0 10. Gcreptile (The eaten tide pods) vs John Key 4-0 11. Deathray (First In, First Out and Never Invited to an Orgy Again) vs Sir Creep (The Month-to-Month Tenants) 0-0 12. Captain Chorizo vs Book (Never Heard of Soccer) 0-0

Awaiting Barys Kit's qualifying obit, so Pedro and Yorkshire Banker need to hold on a few more hours (I'd assume), but I won't keep Gcreptile waiting for his 4 points. Johnnie Lindsey, bit of a poor sod, really. Convicted of a crime he never committed, given life imprisonment, DNA finally exonerates him after 25 years, and then he gets terminal cancer and dies young. The extenuating factors of exoneration from a life sentence after such a long time qualified him for the pool. Some folk just have no luck! But that's not Gcreptile with his early lead, although this is a very late lead going by his early rounds last year, which were usually settled by half past midnight on the 1st of the month! 1. Charon (Unrepentant) vs Maryportfuncity (Inter Youngboys FC) 0-0 2. Pedro (Trottingbum Hotsores) vs The Dead Cow 0-0 3. Young Willz (Glasgow Ron Weasley Ed Sheeran Slash Fanfiction Thistle Wanderers United) vs The Engineer 0-0 4. Grim Up North (Going Going GUN) vs Yorkshire Banker 0-0 5.

That sounds ominous. Take care!

Oh, he is dead, but alas I didn't accept Belarussian obits. He'll get something imminent from anywhere given CV, I suspect.
-
Cool. Just waiting for confirmation on Mr Kit and I'll update the two at once.
-
I beg to differ. Here's a case of cold blooded murder where the killer got away with it through the cunning disguise of being a dog. Also happens a lot in the US, when people dress their dogs up with guns, and then paws get near guns, and Darwin Awards happen.

Completely misread that as Derrick. Though David has a bigger claim to fame with If... and I might be one of the few fans of Britannia Hospital.

Don't be fooled, that was just his day to day normal rapist murderer looks. He's probably gone downhill since, hopefully. More recent photo.

Deathlist Dreaming
msc replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Death-dar is an imprecise science after all, unless you're Scottish and have the Second Sight from birth, of course. Anyhow, the last time I dreamt anything deathlisty was at Christmas, when I dreamed that I had won the DDP, only for the organiser (who was Morbid Kid for some reason) had DQ'd my team because the joker had apparently died in 1472 and I hadn't noticed. -
Of course there is the third option - that he didn't actually kill her but his actions (ie her sodding off after some violent row and then falling off the boat in this scenario) led to her death - which wouldn't do good for his health either imo.
-
He wont qualify for this, due to be dead already, but the biggest "wow" moment so far looking up a team for this is finding out that Angus Scrimm won a Grammy. As in villain from Phantasm, drol's avatar.
-
Ah, the Charge of the Light Brigade of cancer battles. I think I've made that joke before tbh but no matter.
-
She named herself after the pro-wrestler, right?
-
That was more like this: With Ali playing the role of Wayne Knight here.
-
This is me, realising how many Grammy Awards there are!

Dan Alon, fenced for Israeli at the 72 Olympics, died aged 72. Remarkably lucky to reach his 70s, however, as during the raid what led to the Munich Olympics massacre, the terrorists grabbed folk from Apartments 1 and 3, and Alon was in Apartment 2, and able to escape.
-
He still lives in LA, right? If they want to talk to him, why not go to his door instead of announcing it on the TV?
-
I think he's got a bit to go yet, but key difference: they ANNOUNCED his diagnosis in November, he wasn't diagnosed then. BBC interviewed his former manager Martin O'Neill the weekend the news broke about it, and he looked close to tears (this is a usually fairly stoic man), and said until he saw Liam he "didn't realise how bad it was" - hints at it being somewhat further along.
-
I didn't want to confirm it for fear of invoking a mass lot of Lynotts on my hands, trying not to distort the competition with insider knowledge as it were.. Of course, sods law, nearly everyone playing guessed, and about 60% of the teams still to come in after that point had her on their team!
-
Philomena Lynott. Fringey, but counts imo: - They are close to a household name ie if you asked a bunch of strangers their name, at least 51% imo would go "Oh yeah, that's so and so, isn't it?" - "Oh yeah, Phils mum?" - I have decided that if a person has been the subject of regular newspaper interviews and infrequent TV spots since before I was even born (that's going nearly 34 years plus), then it's a bit difficult to call them purely a "fringe" candidate, even if they look fringey at first glance. - As executor of his estate, plus she wrote his biography and was the go to for Phil Lynott anecdotes/or if Donald Trump uses Thin Lizzy music without permission, several interviews in the likes of the Daily Record going back...as long as I can remember, and I've known about her since I were at school age. Thin Lizzy did a song about her in the 1970s, I think they count as a fairly major rock band. And she does have her own Wiki page, and has for years. Apparently I'd mentioned her before this, but you know, long hours, crap memory, etc etc.
