    Deathlist Awards

If you're actually doing this, a few that come to mind to tip of the year. charon's David Provan one, didn't work out for the DDP but enough for folk to use him in many of the other deadpools around here Sir Creep banging on and on (and on and on and on) about Gordie Howe's imminent death when it seemed he was recovering from ill health. I can't find it via search but someone on here posted after Alan Rickman got married last year with a "why, is he ill?" type post. It was the first thing I thought of when I heard he'd died. Can't find it at all now though.

Davey and Rotten Ali don't seem to post as much these days either. My first post as a non-guest on here - a 400 name list - got a "nice to see you making a real effort up there" reply from Ali, which inspired me to inflict many, many more lists on people over the years.

    The Hare's Death Pool

Banned at his own request, said Paul earlier. He was acting like someone having a self-destructive "tear up something I like" mental incident - I recognise them! Hope he feels better soon.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Question, TMIB. See if a terrorist chap is announced to have snuffed it by Western media, in, say, December 2016, and then the terrorist organisation announce that he has died (but don't give a date of death) in, say, January 2017... would the DDP host count this as a 2016 death or a 2017 death? Given the rules are it doesn't count until both sides confirm it.

*checks Predictors friends list* Oh dear, are we due a Shaun meltdown in about nine months then? The Curse of Predictor!

    Death Wishlist 2017

MacKenzie was trending a few months back and, it being 2016, I got over-optimistic for a second. Can't mind what he was doing, it wasn't dying.

    Death Wishlist 2017

Only person I can think of, off the top of my head, is Peter Tobin. I did laugh at the appearance of Will Self on Shaun's list, though.

Nah. Deathray, you are actually OK? Clearly you like this forum given you came back after your last grump at it. When I get into these moods with people, I sod off for a few days till my mood clears up, rather than someone getting heated and saying the irreversible. Not an attack, a rare off the record bit of advice.

    Cat For Admin!

On an admin front, I doubt that shouting or asking polls will bring any new admins. (Nor do I know if Paul can even "Admin up" someone, nor do I care, to be honest.) Not a knock on Cat, he seems cool, but remember, this is essentially a forum for a group of pals and their Deathlist, which has gone international. The rest of us are all just squatters, and nice as it is to get out of the rain, it's good to remember that.

    Cat For Admin!

Well, for one thing, one of those you mentioned is the site owner, and others were/are members of the Deathlist Committee themselves. Also, who do you think gets stuff done when DDT is away working and Paul's asleep? That's just two issues with your iconoclasm drive.

Steady on, Robespierre: just because they don't talk to you, how do you know they're not doing stuff, eh?

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2017

Long time Armando Ianucci collaborator (Thick of It, Veep) and writer Ian Martin, 63, tells us about his terminal cancer, presumed lung cancer. Had been given a life expectancy of "December 2006" to "2016 at the very latest". Still alive, thanks to a variety of drugs keeping him alive, but they wont work forever, so one to keep an eye on.

    Close To The End

Notwithstanding my own skeptical nature as to his being terminal, why not? There's no point just giving up - either you get to do the tour, or you don't, because dead. If you do, it takes your mind off stuff, and if you die, well, you're hardly going to notice.

    Richard O'Sullivan

Roy Clarke would have had to let other people write for the show too. Blimey, Robert Fyfe is 92 next year - bit long in the tooth to go sneaking about with Marina nowadays.

    Richard O'Sullivan

Well, it was a bit shit by the end, but I do think Jay Hunt is a complete cunt, so yeah. Would have been weird without Sallis though.

    Dead Drummers

The article doesn't mention his battles with depression and addiction but Kerslake is a toughie, something I learned to my cost a few years back after squandering valuable dead pool squad places on him. Bit late to the punch, but apparently Lee Kerslake's health has deteriorated in recent months. Though he's since claimed the prostate part of his cancer is doing better, but anyhow, there's an update of sorts.

Belief in homeopathic cures is for a deadpooler like giving Dracula the keys to the blood bank.

    Deathlist Awards

Off the top of my head: The "Oh Christ, not again award" is shared by all those threads in which Donald Trump/Hilary Clinton debates flared up. The "Good Job Jinxing it" award goes to ImNotHades for posting David Bowie as a suggestion in the Ideas thread a few hours before his death was announced, and thus increasing my January workload. The "Just a Flesh Wound" award goes to the winner of the 2016 DDP (TBC). The Peter Sarstedt "Where did you go to" award goes to Magere Hein. The DDT award for Forum Form-spotting Guides goes to Gcreptile, who's suggestions from last year appear to have had a remarkable death rate this year. Flight Radar Watcher of the Year: Cat Deadpool of the Year (not counting the DDP): Shaun's Death by Numbers, imo. Crowded, varied and interesting field though. Newcomer of the Year: Doesn't feel like there's that many options. Probably Joey, tbh.

    Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

I've not put Al-Baghdadi on my shortlist, because I know the moment I do, his death is getting announced. Sods law. Be a terrible funny terrible thing for DDPers if we got to March 2017 and there was an announcement that he'd died in, say, November.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2017

Cancer "stable" as of August [ie latest blog post 2 days ago]. He's reached his 18 month expectancy, but should be good to go for a few more months yet. From the Supporters comments here, it looks like from yesterday his mother was concerned he wouldn't last the night. Omnious indeed. Latest update TL/DR version: cancer spread to a rather painful part of the body, surgery failed, cancer has since spread to the spinal cord and lining of the brain.
