There's been enough Bayldon posts this year for him to have his own thread, nearly. Always a fun actor to see show up in things.

So, How's Your 2016 Shortlist Looking?
msc replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
So, you didn't make Carey Lander your joker (as I did). And if I had to guess, my current joker will die in December. I'll submit three teams this year. The main team will be a somewhat boring cancer team whose entries have all already been mentioned on this board (as it currently stands). My B-Team will be a little more eclectic, featuring the odd terrorist, the possible uniques and a few old people, a bit like my main team this year. And my theme team. No, I didn't. I didn't expect her to see January. I might however put a theme team in alongside the annual Pan Breed attempt. If so, I have their line up all ready, complete with subs should any of them die. -
So, How's Your 2016 Shortlist Looking?
msc replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
For the first time ever, the proposed joker didn't die in October. This is only because I haven't come up with a provisional joker yet though. -
Do you know whats worse? Having one of those uniques, deciding to hold off on them the next year as they are clearly doing better than expected, only for one of those teams to sweep in and nab him... and get unique bonus points when he died!
-
Crowe wouldn't be that crucial as all of the top three have him, so they wouldn't change positions or distance from each other. I was forgetting he's TJS's joker. As you were...

[RE The death of Michael C Gross] That'd put The Living End around 10 points clear of Spade if my maths is correct. Looks like Team Quantick need Kris Travis to go downhill very quickly now to make that up. Death Impends is just two behind the leader though, and even though they had little faith in the teetering ability of the picks remaining a few months ago, anything can happen in December with a sudden health setback. Even if so, it's still be a frankly brilliant year for you.

He's talking about his own deadpool rather than the Deathlist, I think.

What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?
msc replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
The Deathlist has always been made of really old, famous people, mostly! Though, for all the talk of a logjam of old people talking up spaces on the Deathlist, it reminds me of the time around 1999. Throughout the nineties, there was a lot of notable old types who showed up on each years Deathlist, much like now. Then, from 2000 to 2005 this happened: Year, Person Who Was a Deathlist hit (number of appearances on the Deathlist at time of death) 2000 - Gielgud (9), Cartland (11) 2001 – Bradman (10), 2002 – Queen Mum (14), 2003 – Hope (13), Hepburn (11) 2004 – Wray (7), Reagan (14), Alice (9), Cooke (10), Adair (8) 2005 – JP2 (12), Wiesenthal (8), Mills (10), Callaghan (8) So by the time it got to 2006, the only person with more than 6 appearances left were Michael Foot (7), and Kurt Waldheim, Pinochet and Clive Dunn on 10 each. Similar will happen over the next few years. People might live older, but no one outruns time forever. -
Deathlist Dreaming
msc replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Boring post warning. Had a strange dream last night, in which it was New Years Day and the 2016 Deathlist had shown up. I'd had a glance at it, and knew it would annoy people, especially as it had "Any one former World Leader" in 5th place. I went onto the forum, which was full of threads (over 100) ranting. What I remember now is that posters (non-specific) ones were angry that the Deathlist had ignored Jimmy Carter, and the interesting case of one Paul Taylor (who I presume was made up), who was in 3rd place. Their was general disillusionment that the Deathlist had picked an 125 year old civil rights activist for "an easy pick", until someone pointed out they were sure Taylor had died in 2013. Then, someone else pointed out that Tayor had died in 1975, which was followed by the actual Committee showing up and suggesting that the man had faked his death and was alive. I only mention this for future reference as the dream claimed Zsa Zsa was number 1 Deathlist pick in 2016, George Bush Sr was 2nd and Olivia de Havilland was 4th. Boring post finished. -
What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?
msc replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
The list of hits per Deathlist year table, as nicely tidied up by Magere Hein: =1. 2015 (14/50), 2008 (14/50), 2003 (14/50) =4. 2013 (13/50), 2006 (13/50) =6. 2012 (12/50), 2009 (12/50), 2005 (12/50), 2004 (12/50) =10. 2014 (10/50), 2007 (10/50), 2002 (10/50), 2001 (10/50), 2000 (10/50), 1999 (10/50) =16. 2010 (9/50), 1997 (9/50), 1995 (9/50), 1994 (9/50) 20. 1998 (8/50) =21. 2011 (7/50), 1996 (7/50) =23. 1993 (5/56), 1992 (5/37) =25. 1990 (3/42), 1989 (3/32) =27. 1987 (1/31) 28. 1991 (0/40) Deathlist 2015, a record equaling year, is held up by 79% old people not waking up. And so what? I refer long time complainers to the Grim Reaper back in 2010: So, is this a record breaking year? Here's the number of hits still to come at this time of the year. 2014 - 2 2013 - 4 2012 - 1 2011 - 2 2010 - 1 2009 - 0 2008* - 2 2007 - 1 2006 - 4 2005 - 1 2004 - 2 2003* - 0 2002* - 0 2001* - 1 2000* - 0 1999* - 1 1997* - 1 1995* - 1 1994* - 0 * denotes historical record creating years or record equaling years at the time (I had no intention of writing out 28 of them!) Now, the last year to have no December or late November hits was 2009, and that year was entirely opposite to 2015. In 2009, 67% of hits were due to well selected terminally ill people, and the list eventually burned through them. The elder members on the list kept breathing (though annoyingly, one or two got dropped for doing that and promptly died in 2010!). Whereas this year, the terminal and seriously ill seem to soldier on, whilst the long lived elderly don't. That's life for you. In terms of record years, we've a 50/50 precedent. 2003 had no deaths after September. 2008 shot into record contention with late deaths of Mark Felt and Harold Pinter. Of the last decade, there seems a 90% chance there will be at least one more hit in the year. My guess remains that Martin Crowe is unlikely to see New Year. Given how this year has gone, though, we're as likely to create a record breaker out of Cliff Michelmore. -
The gangsters will be in mourning. Though I believe Maurice Colbourne bumped off most of them.

Garnett might have, but I doubt life long socialist Warren Mitchell did.

That snark turned out well.

I wonder who it was. If it was Heath, he was in for a shock.

If I died right this second, probably enough for the Deathrace (due to mentions in local papers), but nowhere near DDP levels. Should I ever become a cancer dad with obit chances one day, I'll be certain to let you know.

The news that Betsy Drake has died at 92 back on October 27th breaks on a fast news day. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/betsy-drake-dead-cary-grant-838970 Note: Only posted here because of the previous reference by Handrejka. And another of my possibles for next year bites the dust. I thought this year was your last on the DDP? Not that I'm complaining! Why should anyone quit DDP? They might see themselves picked and decide it's just got personal If, someday in the future I became a DDP pick (due to some rare cancer, no doubt), I'd be so proud. But then, I am, admittedly, a bit weird.

What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?

Apparently Scott Putesky was a big miss. His claim to fame with me is reminding me of Scott Putski. Not sure why Mary Tyler Moore has such an obsession on here. -

I would be astounded if we didn`t. Martin Crowe would be delighted if we didn't! Good work, Magere, on updating the list. -
My impression was that The Tomorrow People were mostly kids and so wouldn't be that old even today? Never watched it though.

Reminds me of the poem I often feel is the Deathlist forum's unofficial anthem. For the Anniversary of My Death By W. S. Merwin Every year without knowing it I have passed the day When the last fires will wave to me And the silence will set out Tireless traveler Like the beam of a lightless star. Deeeeep.

I'll enter around that time too, probably with a DDP crossover. In the past, MPFC has been good at being sworn to secrecy on DDP picks.

Clash Of Helmuts - Which Will Die First?
msc replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
Yeah, when Kohl took ill this summer, and Schmidt was still giving interviews, I'd have certainly assumed the elder would outlive the younger Helmut. That's looking like life for you. -
I was considering bumping the Rea thread last week when I learned that he still apparently has his cancer.
