The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

Bless you Mercarte. I've been searching in vain for a sick enough religious leader for my DDP team, but Law will be a perfect candidate. I hope he makes it to New Year's Day. -

Former New Zealand captain John Reid, 89, the only survivor of his country's 1949 tour of England, unable to attend the launch of a book about the tour due to health reasons. -
Me too, 2017 just wasn't the same with no Deathrace entry.

I'm sure many Deathlist members will indeed be keeping Mr Prophet in their thoughts...

Confusion reigns, as the Mirror have also just pulled an article which stated that it was Parkinson's other daughter Mary who was dead. -
Keyboard maestro Richard Tandy, the member of the Electric Light Orchestra who isn't Jeff Lynne, was absent from the band's last tour due to an unspecified illness, which provoked some speculation on fan sites.

Yes, while there may be a wintery apocalypse seventy miles up the road, Devon does seem to be missing out on the fun. On the plus side, I've been surfing - in the sea, not online - today

So How's Your 2018 Shortlist Looking?
DevonDeathTrip replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Still dithering about whether to keep a place in the squad for Clive James and Abu Bakr Al- Baghdadi, a useless pair of layabouts who will probably both cark it in the first week of 2018 if I drop them, or party on in to 2019 if I don't. I'm hoping to go back to the tried and trusted method of having an Irish person, a folk/country musician, a criminal and a cleric in the team next year, but really struggling to find a sick enough religious figure to warrant a call up. Might be time for Sister Wendy to answer the call of duty. -
Some cop turned crack dealer called Reggie Wright, who might or might not have killed Tupac Shakur in 1996, is gravely ill according to The Sun, although they don't know what the nature of the illness is.

Irish nationalist historian, priest and former Cambridge don Rev Dr Brendan Bradshaw is gravely ill and may struggle to see out the year. No links I'm afraid, but you can trust me on this one.

Poet Jorie Graham has been suffering from cancer for the last five years and tells The Guardian Make of that what you will. I couldn't find much more specific about her diagnosis or prognosis, but she's definitely obitable.

Please list your karaoke standards

I've never done kareoke, but would probably choose an instrumental like Tubular Bells and treat the audience to a thousand yard stare instead. -
Since 1989 Robert Smith has been the only original member of The Cure still in the band, which started out as a trio. Apart from that, you're spot on

Thread closed. Not entirely sure the condemnation is warranted; we all have to start somewhere and nobody has been hurt. Sadly the chances of a new member surviving to maturity on these forums is probably no greater than that of a turtle hatchling, but maybe Leon can be the turtle who bucks the trend, or something.

Dennis Skinner, 85, got very aerated in the House of Commons earlier this week. For a man with heart problems, he doesn't seem to be giving much consideration to perhaps calming down a little. There must be an outside chance of him dropping dead in the Commons chamber during a future rant.

Can't resist posting a different version of that song, just because an unofficial video makes me smile

The BBC reports on Sudanese pop star Hawa Mohammed Adam, who has breast cancer and has struggled to access treatment at home. She has instead received care abroad in Egypt, funded by her fans. -

Australian academic and intellectual Robert Manne is apparently battling throat cancer for the second time. He's got his own profile page on the Guardian's site, which should pretty much guarantee him an obituary when the time comes, I would have thought.
