I don't know a thing about that, but I heard a bit of Pope Ben reading mass on the box yesterday. He sounded like he's 116 years old: a weak and cracking voice and wheezing every now and again. Of course, it also means he's still breathing. regards, Hein Sad, but true. Hopefully, somebody else will knock him to the ground this Xmas, finishing him off for good! Whats the point? Get rid of one Pope and up pops another one...

'Storm Chaser', Matt Hughes, has died after committing suicide by hanging. He was 30 years old.

Maybe you should contact the BBC to let them know. I think the Guinness Book of Records need to know. I will let my friend know, as its not really my place. A new set have come forward...but are still three months younger than my friend's gran and great aunt. Link Time to call your friends bluff, Windsor My friend's gran and twin sister turn 101 at the end of this month. I daresay something will come from that - starting with the Press and Journal.

Released from hospital. Looking at the footage, I'd give her two years tops.

Don't forget Derrick Bird. Everybody's heard about the bird... -
Fuck off. No way is that creature's death more significant Norman Wisdom's. Or indeed Dame Joan Sutherland's... Or Billy Jones. Talented musician and a good friend of mine, way too young (67). This is why 'Most Significant Death' stuff is a waste of time. It's impossible for people to agree on who is the most significant. 1. JD Salinger did fuck all for 30 years. 2. Alexander Haig had been retired for about 20 odd years. 3. Peter who? 4. Lech who? 5. Are actors really that significant? 6. Just because you hang about long enough it doesn't make you more significant. 7. Alchoholic 8. Didn't she win something in the 50s? 9. Are actors really that significant? 10. It isn't even a squid!

I'm pretty sure that another cast member died a year or two ago. Unfortunately I can't remember his name, so there is the real possibility that I could be speaking shite.

She'd be a good bet for 2011 then...

Do a bit of internet trolling. -
New York Times obit for Sheik Saqr al-Qasimi. It says he was 90, but most sources say he was 92. Edit: Do I still get the five bonus points for him being 'incumbent', or did we rule Royalty out of this bonus category?
-
I think I had him on the dustpool, and he was somewhere in my top 50 for next year. He wasn't the longest reigning monarch, but the world's oldest reigning monarch.

Turriff eh. Thats not too far away from me. If I had an interest in football I might have went... If you don't have an interest, why on earth are you reading the thread? Because at some point they may come to Fraserburgh. Even though I have no interest in football, I might put in the effort if they come to me. Is that alright with you?

President Mubarak of Egypt looks likely to stand in the next presidential election. At 82 years of age and with rumours of cancer he was mentioned as a possibilty for 2011.

Dress up as Prince Harry. -
The band of which I was formerly a member is playing on Sunday. They will be an all percussion band (all drums) as they don't have enough cornet players for the event. I think that's brilliant.

Since the DL seems to like the older candidate it is worth noting that Rupert's mother, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, is still alive at the the age of 101. She seems to be famous in her own right in Australia, and would get a British obit for obvious reasons...

When I saw it, I thought he may be going through chemo or something. But thats probably a well known fact that I was oblivious to...

Can anybody remember Paul and Rachel Chandler who were taken captive by Somali pirates? Worth a shot in 2011?

It was on the BBC ticker 5 minutes ago.

This brings me to the question: who will send such a lovely card to the Queen when she celebrates her 100th in 2026? regards, Hein Given that Osborne has just scrapped the Civil List, I doubt that the Royal Household will still have the funds to send out cards in 5 years, let alone 15. The Monarchy will be funded from the Crown Estates, but will have to make savings of about £7m per year.

Maggie has been cheered up with a bit of telly.
