Happy Birthday ie+...wherever you are. -
For those of you living in Britain, you technically don't have an MP at the minute. Bye bye Alex...

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church
Windsor replied to Pagad Ultimo's topic in DeathList Forum
Should be here. My comment was suggesting that, if the Cardinals are feeling the strain, how must the elderly Pope be feeling. Thus it may qualify for this thread...no? Oh well - worth a try... -
The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

Cardinal Brady, Head of the Catholic Church in Ireland, is in hospital recovering from a heart attack. Possibly due to the strain of the child sex abuse scandal? He is almost 15 years younger than the Pope... -
I thought you were taking the moral high ground until I checked out your team.... There is no moral high ground in competative deadpooling. Its a cut-throat business.
-
I read another source which said that they tried to contact Hewlett in late January 2010, but found that he had died 'several weeks' earlier. Can't remember the source...but it wasn't the Daily Star.
-
Indeed, those who chose Hewlett are now at a disadvantage, but thus are the pitfalls of competative deadpooling. Personally, I wouldn't enact the subs at all. Just a bit of bad luck. I'm sure that the teams will get over it.
-
Given that I have no team in this pool, and therefore no real interest in striking down competition, I will offer my impartial opinion. I think that you should withhold the points at this time. If a date is provided, and shows that he did indeed die in 2010, then by all means award the points at the later date. Until such time as a solid date is provided, no points should be awarded. It is the case that all teams put him in their teams in 'good faith', but that shouldn't really matter. These teams have fallen fowl of the rules by putting forward a candidate for a celebrity dead pool who was not a celebrity. You may now proceed in tearing my argument to shreds.

Cutting it a bit fine to the wire. Is there an actual date of death yet? I don't think there ever will be, to be honest. An unmarked grave, no family members, no press. I think - but only think - he would qualify for points as there was no evidence he was already dead when teams submitted their entries, but that's for TMIB to call, not me any more. He's certainly got a lot of deaths on his plate right now, but I'm better he's glad no-one picked a Polish statesman theme team on the DDP.... It's a difficult one. I'm stuck with a team of ninteen because Paul Vincenzi managed to cark it without telling anyone right at the end of December, but no online obituary appeared until 2010. Hopefully TMIB will give us the benefit of the doubt. Although my opinion is slightly biased, I wouldn't award points unless the pick died in 2010. Then again, with Hewlett, it can't be proven that he didn't die in 2010. There must be a death record somewhere. It is the law, isn't it?

Dead. Well done to the teams who picked him on the DDP. Cutting it a bit fine to the wire. Is there an actual date of death yet?

Which makes me wonder why they were all travelling together. On one plane. Which was designed about 25 years ago. Which then crashed. I'd have thought that, like the Royal Family, they'd have spread out the notables over a few aircraft. It does seem like an odd assortment of politicians, military chiefs and bankers. Were they relocating the government or something?

I live in an SNP strong seat. I'm pretty confident that the SNP will win the constituency, but there are two factors which may change that. 1. Alex Salmond is standing down, and is being replaced by a snobby bitch. 2. The Conservatives have chosen Jimmy Buchan - of BBC's Trawlerman fame - to contest the seat. Being a fisherman and a local celebrity, he may win over a good few voters. If it seems likely that the Tories have a chance to take the seat, I will be voting for the SNP. If it seems likley that the SNP will win, I will vote for the party of my choice...whichever party that is...

There are a few tartan terrorists online these days who would be very interested in your theory. Just read all the comments under the political articles in the Scotsman Online. I have been called a bad Scot, a traitor, a turncoat and accused of being brainwashed by Westminster. They see my degree in history as nothing more than futher state indoctrination. They know the truth where I have been taught lies. They believe Alex Salmond to be some sort of God! End of rant.

I'm just saying that all politicians have a tendency to disappoint. Look at Blair - he was the dogs bollocks in 1997 but when he left office in 2007 9/10 Britons hated him. I happen to think that Obama is doing a good job at the minute. I also think it is wrong to say he swept to power due to a faltering economy. We have just spoken of disgrace. George W. Bush disgraced the Republican Party - even by their usual standards.
-
At the end of Obama's time in office, what are the bets that we will look back this, on our over the top defence of him, with shame?
-
He is certainly more popular than Bush ever was. But then we in the United Kingdom don't see providing health care to our population as particularly evil.

Call the Diamond Jubilee off. The Canadians will attempt to kill her in the summer.

Wrong thread, but a nice hat nevertheless. Oops. Yes it is a very nice hat. Looking at the rest of the Coronation outfit they must have blown their entire budget on it...
-
Well...would they not be dead already? Which means that we can't really predict whether or not they are going die... Or have I missed the point?

Former King Gyanendra of Nepal may be worth a punt if he doesn't keep his mouth shut...

A non-fatal 'heart attack' may be enough to pull the sympathy vote I suppose...

People who ask to be sponsored for charity...where the sponsored event takes place in a foreign country. For example - my cousin is currently looking for people to sponsor her walk...on the Great Wall of China. So surely we would be sponsoring her holiday and not her charity?

He looks Harold Pinter ill. Which means he could be around for a while...
