Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2010
Windsor replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
What the leaked memo actually said: Surely, Clive Dunn would be category 1. I know it's never likely to be required, a bit like government first-contact protocols, but the Beeb better not get caught short if the unthinkable actually happened. You would think that the Prime Minister would be in category 1. It doesn't really matter what you think of the man - if he died it would be quite important... -
Well, if you ever get terminal cancer you know where to go on holiday.

(Return Of) The Celebrity Split List
Windsor replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Which one of them has a book/single/perfume/aftershave/tv show to plug? -
I'll be keeping tabs on him Winnie, he's my next door neighbour . Was talking to someone today who has a friend who is a good friend of the Duke, before you say it, I know it could be 'Chinese Whispers' type gossip, but the person in question is reliable and not given to gossip about people, so I give it some credit. It was just a chance remark, the person mentioned that the Duke is very seriously ill and the cancer is inoperable, basically it doesn't look good. Cancer of the oesophagus is almost always a killer as it's rarely detected early and it's not an area given to being easy to operate on, you really have to catch it in Stage 1, but most people don't realise they have it at that stage. John Thaw lived about 2 years (don't quote me on that, haven't googled the exact time length) after he was diagnosed. Excellent. He is number 48 on my shadow list right next to that Zelda creature. They tend to die in clusters on my lists...

There was an awkward two minutes today where I was travelling through a building with some girl going in the same direction as me. We had to pass though about 6 doors in quick succession to get to where we were going. Obviously, being a gentleman, I held the door open for her as I was leading. She said thank you. Then came the second door. Again I held it open and she said thank you again with a nervous laugh. Then came the third door...etc. Do you say thank you for the third, fourth and fifth door? Do you make conversation with the person knowing that there will be a third, fourth, fifth and sixth door? Do you make a small polite joke about the situation? It was very awkward, and I chose to say nothing. As it happens I do have a strategy for that particularly annoying system of doors. If the door is held open for me (ie if I am following someone) I generally say thank you at the first door and the last door - but not the ones in between. Unfortunately that girl didn't know of my system and this caused the awkwardness. Isn't life so very complicated...

OoO's Baby Spectacular Extravaganza

Congratulations to the OoO family. Shall we make it two years until the next OoO baby sweepstake? -
Is there a local link to the CPDP, because I can never find it. I did try google but that was no use. I think I had Babcock on my list (because I don't know (m)any famous dying Canadians).

Naturally, he hung himself in a wardrobe. It doesn't say if he ironed himself first. Irony-ed?

Who was that English cricket coach for the indian(?) squad who was murdered - but then it turned out that there was absolutely no evidence that he had been murdered,so they decided he actually died of natural causes or something? :S

Was he on the tip of your tongue before today? Didn't think so.

It's worse than you think Windsor. This could well be as good as it gets. In fact it sounds pretty good to me. Always look on the bright side of life...and all that...

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, Etc... For 2010
Windsor replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Aye. Happy Birthday Firestorm. -
I admit it. I am Why Not?. The performance of Why Not? in the HPDP is honorable to say the least. They manage six hits, five of which were in the 1-2-3-4 and 5 positions. However, the new HPDP champion is .. Drum roll please .. Notapotato. I suspect that a place called Hartlepool was once his hometown. I cannot be sure of this, but it seems to make perfect sense. For all I know Notapotato could have originated on planet Venus thousands of years ago. . Actually Banshees - I win. Which is quite surprising given that I didn't enter...

Yes - my posting has taken a hit of late, not that I don't have much to moan about. I was thrown out of the BB band (of which I was an officer) after 12 years of service because I fell out with the bandmaster's family (yes, I've been sacked from a voluntary post). I spend most of my days doing tedious readings for university. I'm still single. I've started playing that bloody farmville and got addicted. And I'm on the verge of being sacked from my work (I went in today but the managers were all away in Ellon deciding our fate). Looking forward to 2011 already.

The indications are that I'm probably about to lose my job. It was my 7th anniversary of working there last weekend. Nothing has been said officially yet - so who knows. Just thought I'd let you know because if I do lose my job, you may as well lock this thread.

Teach your daughter the tricks of the trade in the family business... Mother of the Year And if you are wondering, she is hoping to fall pregnant again...by the end of the next series of her show. I've heard of child exploitation...is there such a thing as embryo exploitation? -

Oliver Cromwell was executed on this day in 1661...more than two years after his proper death. Today is also the anniversary of the execution of Charles I, who was killed in 1649. Happy days.
