    Deathlist 2011

Betty from Coronation Street. The actress who plays her is 88 years old, and her younger sister has just died. She is said to be devestated. May finish her off I suppose. Alternatively, there is also Liz Dawn (remember her?).

Luckily I was outbid. Some other poor sod has bought a forged item saving my feedback score and my bank balance from taking a bashing. For the record, I do usually bid and pay with no questions asked. This was a one off where the nerves got to me...

    The Dead Of 2008

Oh piss off you moron, no-one's heard of any of these people. My Grandma might have. But she's dead.

    Room 101

Haha. She was more famous for her claw than her singing in the Windsor-extended-household. My 'step-nephew' thought it quite funny throughout the series. I'm not too fussed who wins either (I only watch it because I have a mother and sister who hog the main television). I don't want that Irish Owen to win. He plays to the cameras too much. He is about as genuine as Jordan's boobs (or her marriage). You only need to see Harry Hill's TV burb to realise that... Anyway, I have found myself in a crisis on ebay. I am the highest bidder in an auction which ends in about 14 hours and I've requested a bid retraction. I have a good bit of money on an item which I am now pretty sure is fake. The reason I think it may be fake is that after placing the bid, I remembered that I had previously bought from that seller (3 years ago) -and that item turned out to be fake. So I have put the brakes on. It is my own fault for getting overexcited on ebay. I explicitly asked the seller if the item was genuine, he said yes - but then he said that the last time. So I've like to put lying bastard sellers in Room 101.

The X-Factor. Stop yer greetin' and get on with yer singin'! Honestly - there is no need for it. It's not even a talent show. That guy Owen (can't be arsed with the Irish spellng) is going to win, and he isn't the best singer.

Adverts - you either love 'em or hate 'em

I'm getting fed up of all those f**king Christmas songs creeping into every advert.

    Robert Mugabe

...5) Desmond Tutu says that if Mugabe does not step down, he should be deposed by force.

I've joined the DL group also. I'm rarely on facebook, so I probably won't be around there much.

    Who Should Headline Dl 2009?

Of the names listed above, I went for Kennedy. You can't beat a Kennedy death. Perhaps his ex-wife, Joan Bennett Kennedy, would be worth considering. She is an alcoholic and has suffered from cancer.

    Robert Mugabe.

    Robert Mugabe

Link I think it may be a good idea to slip Mugabe on the list for next year. I'll be very surprised if he can keep power when you consider: 1) People are dying in the street of cholera. 2) We are beginning to see the beginnings of disaffection in the army. 3) African leaders are increasing the pressure. 4) He is 84.
  12. Now I can be even more angry. What next? A pressure group? Save Our Junkies? That man has done f**k all for his constituents since he moved in to Bute House, but as soon as a sob story hits the headlines he is right there! (Told you this should have gone into Room 101)

    The Weather

It was snowing here last night which meant I woke up to white. That in turn meant that my morning bus journey lasted 30 minutes more than usual. It then started raining quite heavily for most of the day. We are expecting temperatures to sink to -6/7 tonight. That means I'll be slipping on my arse all day tomorrow. My bus journey will probably be similar to today's. We do, however, still have heating, hot water and a cooker all still functioning in our humble little mud hut. (This weather report was brought to you by Windsor).
  14. I used to work with this woman in the kitchen. Not only did this story make the Press and Journal...but also the Sun. I was going to put this in Room 101 because it makes me angry. I don't think that the story is particularly newsworthy. There are probably 100 families in this town suffering from whatis essentially the same problem.
  15. Happy St. Andrews Day. Only 2 years to go until the referendum...
  16. Happy Birthday Weatherman90/91.

Whatever happened to ie+ and Lady Die?

    Claude Levi-Strauss

Or maybe he decided that there were better ways to celebrate his 100th birthday. He decided to opt for a piss up instead. Edit: Where is ie+? I thought she might have a thing or two to say about this mans persistence to live.

With regard to the famous for being ill rule. you should set up a panel of say five people. If there are any controversial cases, the panel would then vote. If the majority approve, then the points are awarded. If the panel do not approve, then the points are not awarded. I admit that this probably is not as watertight as you would have hoped, but it would take some of the pressure off of you as the sole decision maker. Then again, membership of such a panel would probably just be as controversial. Perhaps past winners, or past 'caretakers' could make up the ranks? It would also be beneficial to them if some agreed criteria on what a 'celebrity' acually is was agreed upon. It is probably just as well there is a full year to sort this one out. The case I was thinking on putting forward was that of 26 year old Tara Jones. She made the news this year when she was given months to live after hospitals failed to diagnose her skin cancer. Anyway, she is not really famous. She will probably be a big point scorer when BBC Wales give report her tragic death (leaving behind a husband and kids). I have not yet decided if I will include her in my team. This is where the whole 'competition' rule come into play. At the minute she is not in my team, but that may change tomorrow. (I could be wrong about her obit chances, she could even be dead already). I think that the above case would be easy for a panel to decide on. She is neither famous, nor a celebrity, thus the points would not be avoided. She is simply a 'civilian' who has been given a passing mention by the media. In my opinion hostages would also fall into the same category, unless they held some degree of fame before their lives were put in danger. Just an idea for OoO to consider for next year...

    Norman Wisdom

Well, wikipedia says that he has only been given weeks to live. Unfortunately no source is given for that claim.

    2009 DDP

Just to clarify - am I correct in saying that for 2009 there will be no rule preventing a team choosing a candidate who is famous soley for being ill? All that this ill nobody will need is an obit from the media listed on the site?

    Room 101

Winny, sweetheart. Would this not have been better suited to Ask a Deathlister? I know you meant to post it there but the pull of Room 101 was, for you, like a Dog pissing up its favourite tree. Never admit to being a cheapskate! To be fair, it was a difficult choice. On the one hand it is a general question, but on the other it is very annoying.

Bloody Computers! My laptop died about a month ago which prompted me to buy a new one last week. Anyway - the new one is being a dick (this is a shameless attempt to gain some advice). The laptop came with a TRIAL for Microsoft Word 2007. Anyway, that will probably run out soon. The thing is that it keeps annoying me for a product key which I don't have (because it is an inbuilt trial). My brother-in-law lent me a copy of his Microsoft Word 2007 so I could instal it on my laptop (you are allowed to install it on three computers, and this has only been used on one) but it won't let me. It keeps saying that I have entered an invalid product key. So what should I do? Should I delete the program that is currently on the laptop, and then reinstall the one from the disk? If I delete the one on the computer might that lead to all my work that is on the computer to disappear? I really do hate computers. This is probably my own fault anyway for being such a cheapskate...

Perhaps not a bad idea. My choice for today is green pea or yellow pea...both vegetarian options again.
