Em - damn - as I was saying only one non monarch in the 20th Century recieved a State funeral and that was Sir Winston Churchill. I'm not sure about Nelson. But then again Margaret Thatcher is not an inspirational war time figure - unless you count the Falklands.

There is only one non-monarch in this country who has recieved a State funeral and that was Sir Winston Churchill. I doubt Maggie will get a State funeral because the Queen Mother only recieved a Ceremonial funeral (there is a difference). Shes likely going to have a funeral like Ted Heaths - with a labour Prime Minister and a monarch who hates her there will not be much in her favour.
