    Richard O'Sullivan

We are slipping.....if you google Richard O'Sullivan daethlist is, again, only the third most popular search. Does anyone have any current news on him?

That's nice. [Edited for brevity -- MH] Don't remember the exact details of this post, but would like to ask when and why we started to edit posts on grounds of brevity. I can't imagine that I had anything particularly long-winded to say about JL. What was the problem exactly?

    Paul Hunter

Regarding your earlier, longer post, can you actually find any example of a "sick joke" at Paul Hunter's expense anywhere on this site??

    Did he have "rear Cancer"?

    Transfer Window

Athough I dislike the football analogy, I think that is avery good idea. It could act as the energising factior that our rather stagnant forum seems to need at the moment. Perhaps it could mirror the real "transfer window" and only exist between say April 1st and June 30th? Why not ask a few moderators for their opinion.

  8. My problem has always been with the basis on which someone is made a moderator. I used to think that it was to do with the number of posts made. That was until I saw recently a newly-made mod with only 53 posts. How is it decided that someone is moderator material? Aside from that I don't think I would vote to strip them of their powers. On the whole they moderate/edit/delete in an appropriate way. I say that as someone who has hed a few disagreements with them in the past.

    Ken Russell

I too am reluctant to reveal it but I think he said he was "an old British film director from way back".

    The William Shatner Forum

I brought the album purely so that I could write a review of it for my friend's tiny circulation magazine. Shatner's people were good enough to give me few publicity photos to go with it. I love the version of common people but have never heard the live version, thank you for posting it. I must say the great man looks a little tubby in that clip though.

    Ken Russell

In what way does that description of Women In Love make the film sound pervy? As to his self-agrandisement, I think one could construct an (admittedly weak) argument about Russell being the most famous living British film director. Though I would trust KR himself to make the most fo that argument. As to whether he is a good director or not, I would take the list of his feature films below (from the same wikipedia entry incidentally) and suggest that it contains one masterpiece, a few near masterpieces, several works of flawed genius, two straightforwardly awful films and many enjoyably camp nonsenses; French Dressing Billion-Dollar Brain Women in Love The Music Lovers The Boy Friend The Devils Savage Messiah Mahler Tommy Lisztomania Valentino Altered States Crimes of Passion Gothic Aria (short segment) Lair of the White Worm Salome's Last Dance Whore (a.k.a. If you Can't Say It, Just See It) Prisoner of Honor (HBO television movie) Mindbender Tracked (a.k.a. Dogboys) The Lion's Mouth The Fall of the House of Usher

    Ken Russell

    I quite agree.

    David Irving

I know I have got into this on this thread before, but I have never heard David Irving or anyone else denying the holocaust. As for the point of questioning and seeking to prove the true numbers killed, I would assume that the intention is historical accuracy. The accusation against those claiming 6 million wopuld therefopre be innacuracy rather than dishonesty.

    The First 2007 Success Poll

I voted for four deaths and the one to be Ronnie Biggs.

    Ken Russell

Right in one. Nuns' bums in The Devils I recall. Then there was Glenda Jackson baring her scrawny frame in Sons and Lovers, not to mention the "duelling cocks" scene between Oliver Reed and Alan Bates. I do sometimes despair of this forum. In what way is Ken Russel a "pervy" film driector. Unless there is something "pervy" in his private life that I am unaware of. There certainly isn't anything "pervy" in any of his films, unless you count nudity and sex perverted in themselves.

    David Irving

I posted the interview above because of recently renewal of activity on this thread. As far as I can tell Irving is still refusing to use the word "Holocaust" regarding the killing of Jews by the Third Reich but does not deny that massive numbers were killed. That, I presume, is the reason for the critical comments made about him on this thread.Unless he has done something else wrong that I do not know about:

And when was Sally Thomsett last seen? I believe her current well-being and whereabouts are disscussed somewhere on this thread.

    Lyndsey Hunter

terrible thing to say but I just saw PH's widow on Sports Personality of the Year. She is very fuckable; don't think she will have significant difficulty settling down with someone else. Is Jimmy White currnetly single?

    Richard O'Sullivan

Interesting information. Maybe we could devote an entire thread to disscussing it, oir at any rate matters related to it. I gather that recently RO'S has been more active than he has at any time in the last decade, popping into town to do commentary on dvd's of a few films he was in the 60's and 70's.Perhaps other deathlisters have info regarding his current well-being? .....and one of his fellow residents in said nursing home died today. Wonder what that will do to the chances of him dying some time soon?

    Lyndsey Hunter

You have made a very short mental journey before making your post. Why are you assuming that I and any deathlister wishing to express a preference about sleeping with the widow would be a man?

    David Irving

Thanks DDT, that's the best laugh I've had in weeks. You COULD NOT make this sh*t up, class! I see a possible irony in his brothers choice of religious faith. But do we know that Mr. Irving has any objection to Islam. His opinions on Judaism are quite well documented but I can't think when I've heard him say anything about any other religion. I do recall reading in the papers around the time of his imprisonment that Irving's haven't spoken to him for years.
