I think 2006 has been a bit crap for deaths, really. I mean, not only is the DL chugging along at a mere 7 deaths to date, but I can't even think of many particularly high profile deaths that have occurred over the past few months generally. Why oh why won't people die?
-
I'm not sure they didn't... Ouch!

I just read through this article and am shocked. I mean, can you imagine going to all the trouble of living to be 104 years old, and then having to put up with all this shite? I am scandalised. If that were my son, I think I'd use some of my personal $60 million to have him "taken care of". Although, I suppose Mrs Astor is pretty much nuts now; I guess that's what her son has been banking on. Of course, you can't really ever believe anything you read in the papers, so the actual scenario is probably totally different.

Were you at the anti-fascist meeting, or was he?

And besides. From a purely pragmatic point of view, in terms of fundraising all of these shenanigans would come to nought if she and her health weren't publicised up to the eyeballs. What an absurd thing for Wank Wank to say.

Welcome back, darlin'! Is this the kind of regular meet you were referring to? You're welcome to join us, as long as you bring your own machine. You'll also be expected to supply the tea and biscuits once a fortnight.

Now that we're back up to date with the stats, any chance we can have the 'threads we've posted in' indicator back? Remember? It was a little white box that appeared in the corner of the briefcases. If you'd not posted in the thread the little briefcases would appear as they do now; it you had posted in the thread a little white box appeared in the corner of the briefcase relating to the thread in question. I appreciate it's a moot point for some of our more... prolific members, but I found it helpful. Pretty-please?

You obviously haven't been to the US or England recently.

Serves the idiots right for sheltering from lightning under a tree. Natures way of killing off the morons. Tempus! Are standards slipping round here?

So sorry 4H, my mistake! The GMAS appeared around the same time as the BBAS (Beach Boys Appreciation Society) and I must have conflated the two in my head.

Just to say that I had a thoroughly good time in the dead chat last night - not a snooze-fest at all.

I can't find myself in this picture, I reckon I'm skulking about outside having a fly smoke. I'm the extremely enthusiastic-looking one in the far corner (blonde hair and glasses). ie+ (who does not even need a thimble anymore )

Ah! I remember it well... I was in the chat ( ) with another member who boasts omniscience, when I noticed that several hundred guests were visiting the George Michael thread. Said other member informed that it was most likely "a worm", but I like to think that the George Michael Appreciation Society (GMAP) was having a bit of a surf after a raucous Annual Meeting, and chanced upon our lovely forum.

The stats are back! The stats are back!

I wonder what else might qualify as a 'funeral misdeed'.

Read Any Good Books Lately?
in eternum+ replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I recently finished reading The Book of Illusions by Paul Auster, which I bought at ASDA for £3.77. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it although according to the book's front cover, The Times describes it as "an act of creative magic". There's virtually no dialogue, and is a first-person narrative jobbie; it's one person telling another person's story in intricate detail, interspersed with the narrator's own journey from and through angst, towards what can only be described as 'the other side of angst'. It's quite pedantic and to be honest I wasn't entirely sure I was going to be able to finish it; round about page 300 of 321 I put it down and started to read something else, but then was drawn back for some reason. I don't know - it's pedantic and slow-moving yet somehow also compelling. Not sure if I would recommend it to anyone. I also don't know if I think it's a good read or not. Well written, I suppose, though I'm not entirely sure about that either. Maybe the point of it is that the story manifests ephemeral properties through the narrative, turning itself into an illusion, in which case it's more of a reflexive comment on itself than on the story it purports to tell, in which case it's bloody well written. But I have a feeling that might be reading too much into it. With regard to comics graphic novels, Spiderman has always been my tip-top favourite, although I did go through a Cerberus phase in high school. -

More death fodder tonight, brought to us by our good friends at Channel 4: Angela's Dying Wish - 11:00pm - 12:00am Might give us some insight into the likes of the woman who's running for cancer, or that other one in the boat. -
Oh, Banshees is definitely female.

I should have expected exactly this type of Luddite backlash from one so proudly 'old skool'. The fact that technically you're correct is not the point. Oh hang on, it is isn't it? Damn. Hopefully we can keep this non-argument going for long enough for me to reach my '2.2 average' dream in a way that will keep the purists happy. [calculator] Although I reckon the required 150 posts by the end of today may be beyond me somewhat. [/calculator] I can hear the collective sigh of disappointment from here. If you think I'm going to reply to this post simply so that you can self-servingly raise your own post count, you've got another thing coming and/or you're sorely mistaken! I would not deign to encourage such behaviour! What've you got to say about that, eh??

How can any city that "boasts" the Penguins claim to be a city of champions? (Even though they do, it's totally erroneous so far as I'm concerned!)

Just like Dolly Partin in 9 to 5, I'm not just another pretty face. BTW - I don't recommend learning short-hand: it's such a joke! All those little '@' signs take ages to line up properly.] Have a great one, HCW! -
Yeah yeah yeah. Nice try, One-Point-Six Boy. P.S. Bruno, is this the kind of thing you were referring to?
