Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007

Happy Birthday, MBH2!! Long time no PM... hope all is well and that you're livin' it up! -
Someone once told me I look like Chloe Sevigny, which is complete bollocks as I don't look anything like her. I think he was just trying to get me into bed... More recently, Handrejka had a dream in which I resembled Cate Blanchett. Also entirely inaccurate, unfortunately. To be honest, I don't think I look like anyone other than myself.

Happy Birthday DDT! I hope you've had a great day filled with fabulous prezzies, lovely wine, and tasty cake. -
Wow. What a slap in the face to return to after several days away...

Welcome! I would recommend these threads as a good place to start. Get yourself acquainted with the Fifty Fabulous Reasons we're all here in the first place.

Maybe it was there but got nicked. I hear there's a lot of that going around in Fraserburgh at the moment. Probably sold on to pay the community wardens to "look the other way" whilst all the drug deals are going down.

That's a shame. My team is in the order I selected, which I did deliberately. Gutted! My team's been alphabetically re-ordered as predicted. And I spent so much time putting my team members in the order I wanted. *Sigh* Oh well, at least my team's been posted, I suppose.

My last reading of the unwritten rules led me to understand that a UK obit is not required for DL purposes. If the candidate dies, that's enough for us. Noted. But then what's the "famousness test" candidates are required to pass? I mean, if they don't require a UK obit then technically anybody could be on the list.

My team's been posted! Hurrah! Tied for 120th place (and not last for reasons of alphabeticality). Most likely the highest ranking I'll hold all year. Shall bask while the basking is good possible.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CANADIAN PAUL!!! (I know it's not your Big Day there yet, but it is here!) And look at that! - you're finally old enough to drink, too! Have a flaming sambuka from me... -
Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

Never a truer word spoken, Mr 75. -
This isn't so much a "how to?" as a "what if?" but I didn't know where else to post it so I've put it here. This question may have been addressed elsewhere but I couldn't find it. And I'm curious... Right. There are various UK deadpools that require a UK obit, right? Using the DDP as an example: if one of your team members dies and they don't get a UK obit, then they're crossed off your team but you don't get the all-important points. That's fair enough and I understand it. So what would happen if one of the DL candidates graduated but didn't receive a UK obit? Assumedly they'd have to be crossed off the list or we'd wind up with zillions of guests "helping us out" by pointing out the fact that we missed a death. Would the number-out-of-50 simply not go up by one? Is there DL precedent for this? Does it say anything in the unwritten rules about how to deal with this situation?

All the teams that chose Barzan and Awad have been uploaded, I chose both these fellows, my team is not present. I didn't receive the last email update, no doubt because my name has been removed from their mailing list. They have made an enemy, they had better take care. Look Tempus, I'm not trying to wind you up or anything, I'm just trying to be sensible about this. How do you know that all the teams who selected those two Iraqi guys have been uploaded? Maybe the organisers just did a sort of random sweep of the teams and posted the ones that caught their eye. I mean, there are teams that have been uploaded that have yet to score any points, just like my team has yet to score any points, but that hardly means that they've disqualified me. It is odd that you'd stopped receiving notification emails. Are you one of the teams they've listed as being incontactable? Maybe, with all the other work they've got to do, they've temporarily 'ignore user'd you because you keep harrassing them, and the side effect is that you've stopped receiving the notifications. All I'm saying is perhaps you should wait until all of the teams are uploaded before you take out hits on the organisers.

Tempus, do you actually know for certain that you were disqualified. I mean, did they send you an email or something? I am no longer receiving DDP email updates, I asked a few questions regarding AP news feed obits and got no reply, I asked if I was disqualified, got no reply. This kind of rudeness is intolerable to me, of course they have the right to disqualify me if they so wish, but they could at least have the good manners to reply to civil emails. But it's almost the end of January and they've still to post just under half the teams. Maybe they're not replying to any emails because they've got too much to do. Has anyone else been receiving (private) emails from them?

I'm with you there, SttG. My team was submitted New Year's Eve at around 4pm - in between frantically whipping up a batch of very delicious Tapenade and getting dressed for the evening - and it has yet to appear. As all of my team members are still depressingly alive, so I'm not that fussed. (I only decided to submit a DDP team the day before NYE, and then it was only after the idea was firmly implanted in my brain that I realised I needed 20 candidates instead of 10. But what a team it is!) Well at least the DDP f*ckwits didn't disqualify you. Rude Kid you are one great big twat. Tempus, do you actually know for certain that you were disqualified? I mean, did they send you an email or something?

Just discovered the HDP scoreboard. I'm tied for 10th place out of a whopping 35 teams - HURRAH!
