Treasonable Politicians

PACE is The Police and Criminal Evidence Act See here for details PACE was introduced in '84 so Maggie is to blame. -
Cliff Michelmore was good enough for DeathList in 2004, so surely once a suitable candidate, always a suitable candidate.

Agree totally, that has to be the best guest posting in a long time. Good luck with the London marathon Tracy.

So maybe we need some cameras to monitor the monitors. As the old saying goes: "Big fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em, and little fleas have littler fleas, and so on ad infinitum." We have more cameras, and our people are captured on them more times than any other country on earth by a considerable margin. It's still a badly run, crime infested S**t hole though. The crime level is high because the Police have been converted from a law enforcement agency to a politically correct bunch of beaurocrats. They spend most of their time form filling and not patrolling. Abolish PACE for starters it's a criminals best friend. -

I don't have a problem with CCTV, it serves a useful purpose. It doesn't cut the overall level of crime though, merely displaces it, but it does aid prosecution. You need good quality cameras with effective zoom and sharp images, you also need to have well trained and motivated camera monitors, these people are the crux of the system. In order to be effective regular breaks are needed for the monitors to maintain alertness. Sadly all too often corners are cut, poor quality cameras are installed and monitors are often inadequately trained and work long hours without sufficient breaks. -

Speaking of Tazers, this must have brought tears to the eyes. Police tazer hits man in genitals -
US opera singer James King has died aged 80.

So Carol Thatcher pisses in a jungle and Mark attempts to instigate military coups and does dodgy arms deals. Maggie's made of sterner stuff than to be brought low by these antics. No, she'll go when she's good and ready and hopefully on the DeathList.
-
My mistake, how about a duet Dickie 'O and Lemmy, together at last.
-
Having read DeathList's unwritten rules, I think you'll find that someone is only dead when legally declared so. For instance Lord Lucan was only declared legally dead in '99 even though he disappeared in '74.

But of course, gratuitous abuse of this shuffling excuse for an actor, over-rated sex god and - frankly hilarious - broken down showbiz wreck must come only after we've considered the relevant and interesting aspects of his existence. Wonder where he stands on global warming after such conspicious support of coal fires in those old television adverts. Now you're just be provocative, trying to draw out his fan. At least Dickie 'O isn't a fake like Lemmy with his cold tea.
-
Unlikely as he has made recent statements, If he was already dead I think the Americans would be aware of it or at least suspect it. Anyway someone isn't officially dead until declared so. This would happen upon recovery of the body, not at the actual time of death.

Sam the world's ugliest dog has died, aged 14. I'm sure he has been mentioned on DeathList before.

What about Shirley Maclaine she was a Rat Pack member.

I thought that's what passports were for. That's right, but not everybody in Britain has a passport. If it were made mandatory for everyone to have a passport, would people regard that as an encroachment on their civil liberties? This is the case with all Governments, the more information an ID card contains, the greater potential for abuse. Not all European governments are as brazenly iniquitous as the British one. Yet. I would still even trust a couple of them. You are right though TF. Having lots of information on an ID card is open to more abuse and doesn't guarantee definite identification of the holder if the card is easily forged. And as Entropy says, the British ones are allegedly quite easy to forge. If they were really interested in protecting us the cards would contain less personal information and have plenty of features making them difficult to copy or imitate. But they aren't so they don't. Re. passports, if they were compulsory then yes it would be an encroachment on civil liberties. A document should be of some use to the holder otherwise it's an imposition. I for one will never carry an ID card, no matter what any law may say, they can't lock all the dissenters up, fine me and I'll refuse to pay. I'll never kowtow to this Government. -
People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

To the left of course. -
Hopefully, and likely according to this article, which also denies that al-Zarqawi was killed: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5112100325.html I think al-Zarqawi would be a good selection for DeathList '06. His luck will end soon, the Americans are determined to get him.

Bill deedes is a giant of British journalism, so it speaks very highly of DeathtList. The lead character in Evelyn Waughs novel "Scoop" is based on Bill Deedes.

Yes a real life or death soap opera. Lets hope the Vietnamese authorities press charges, who knows if Saddam is on the list for '06 there could be a DeathList double execution success.

I thought that's what passports were for. This is the case with all Governments, the more information an ID card contains, the greater potential for abuse. They could conceivably have some positive applications, but these are vastly outweighed by the negative aspects. Any biometric cards issued by any government would be abused by said government. They wouldn't be able to resist the temptation. -

Take a look at some other European ID cards. Do they look official and respectable, or do they look like an Azad card from 1974? ID cards are the States way of telling you "Watch it sunshine". Nothing respectable about them. -

Yes that German card has all the subtlety of a jackboot. I don't think we really want lessons from the Germans on ID cards. -
Iraqi court officials deny reports of Saddam being attacked Those officials would say that, they're Shia's. I know which version I believe.

This Government haven't curbed any freedoms, they have merely redefined the nature of freedom. By doing so they have made us all so much more safe and secure. Freedom really was a bit of a burden, think how much happier you are now that it's mostly gone. You'll be ecstatic when the Council Tax rises also relieve you of all your money too. -
I found this picture even more surprising.
