    Michelangelo Antonioni

Another relevant thread that deserves greater attention, Michelangelo Antonioni is certainly worthy of inclusion on the DeathList. There isn't much recent health news about him, but I did find this Independent article from last year. How much longer can someone in his fragile health go on for?

Mhinga, what an unfortunate name. "devastating loss to the music world - TK will be sorely missed." Can't say I've ever heard of her, so not really that devastated.

You keep a list? That strikes me as a bit obsessive, TF. ... and thus I descend into flippancy. "He's got 'em on the list — he's got 'em on the list; And they'll none of 'em be missed — they'll none of 'em be missed." Obsessive? Moi? Au contraire.

It's not a question of "closing your eyes and pretending it's not there". My god, you're speaking about old threads as if they're crimes against humanity! Just leave 'em. If you don't want to read them, ignore them. Then, they're there if others do want to read them. Who knows, maybe one day they're regain relevance. Like the Don Knotts thread. The Don Knotts thread has always been relevant, that kind of thread most certainly shouldn't be deleted. You're only saying that because its relevance has come to the fore; he's died, therefore it is now relevant. If he had simply faded into obscurity for the next five years, you'd probably be arguing for its' deletion. The Don Knotts thread was never on my list of junk, I did recommend that it be merged with another already existing Don Knotts thread, but that is only common sense. The thread of any serious potential DeathListee should never be deleted.

That's ridiculous. No, what's ridiculous is closing your eyes and ignoring the junk and pretending it's not there. Better to deal with it and give the forum a good spring clean.

Yes, but who decides what is 'quality' and what isn't? Us? The mods? One man's junk is another man's treasure, right? If you think it's junk, simply don't open it/post in it. I think common sense is all that is needed to determine which threads are worth keeping. If I think it's junk, then from now on I will post in it, to highlight that fact.

But surely the members housekeep the threads themselves, when they don't post in them and the threads disappear to the annals of DL history? That's like have a perfectly good layer of dust hidden under a sofa. It is doing no one any harm there, until someone comes along and stirs it all up, causing it to get into peoples' airways, as said stirrer points out that there's a lot of dust in the air and shouldn't someone clean it up. Just leave the dust man! These threads clutter up the search facility, why ignore the detritus, better to delete it or if possible merge into another more appropriate thread. But you can refine your search to specific periods of time, so if you don't want to include anything old, you don't have to. On the other hand, if you want to do a bit of archive searching, to reminisce about the good ol' days or something, then the threads are there if you want them. Surely it's not that much of a problem. Keep the quality old threads, chuck out the junk. Surely that's not much of a problem? Can't stand clutter myself.

Hey, if I can help out the DL in cleaning up clutter and raise my post count and posts per day ratio without anyone in the future being able to figure out how I did so (once many of these are deleted) at the same time, then why shy away from that? In other news, that was probably the biggest run-on sentence I've ever written on Deathlist. I was thinking that perhaps we can convert this thread into a discussion forum for deleting threads. That way, instead of raising all these "fossil" threads to the top, we can avoid the problem Godot brought up by posting links to threads that need a fair amount of "reassignment" and avoid the problem you brought up by making sure this thread floats on top of the list until our demands are satisfied. Good Idea, I was perhaps a tad hard on the Mods they did delete/merge most of the threads I listed, but they do very quickly lose interest in the menial tidying up work. A forum needs good housekeeping, to make it easy to navigate and locate relevant threads, it's an ongoing job that needs regular attention.

The idea is though that they will quickly be merged or deleted and no one will ever have to deal with them again. I picked this time because it's past midnight in the UK, and chances are a mod will come by and clean them all up before the main crowd comes in. I'm done now anyhow though. I supplied a whole list of threads like this not that long ago, unfortunately only a small amount of deleting/merging was done by the Mods. They are a tad workshy perhaps. Maybe we should keep reviving them until action is taken PS a great way to get your post count up as well, hey CP.

    The Deathlist Kitchen

OK here's a step up from the sandwich, it's quicker, easier and cheaper... Grab yourself 2 white rolls... Stuff them with either Smokey Bacon or Cheese & Onion Crisps. The good thing about it is that you can make them just One minute Before your favourite TV show starts... TOP NOTCH !!! Make them even tastier by spreading Dairylea inside, then add the Cheese and Onion crisps. Now that's what I call cheesy heaven.

    Ludovic Kennedy

The problem with the spouse logic is that if he makes it to 2007, it probably won't be a factor anymore. I have, however, heard a lot that he has been in poor health recentely, but I can't find much specific information. Perhaps you could give a quick rundown for us across-the-pond-scum? I think the danger time, for a bereaved spouse of a long term marriage is between 6 and 18 months, The first 6 months are usually filled by the family of said spouse rallying round to comfort them and help them adjust to the new situation. After that initial period the extra attention tends to tail off and the remaining spouse is left with the stark reality of their new life. Depression brought about by an inability to come to terms with this new reality often occurs, this frequently leads to a swift decline in health and will to live. If they're still alive after 18 months then the chances are they have managed to adapt themselves to the new situation.

How dare you speak of F-Troop that way! Blasphemy! F-Troop is that something to do with the Boy Scouts?

    Ludovic Kennedy

Thought this thread looked rather empty, considering Ludo is a serious contender for the DeathList. Especially now that his wife Moira Shearer died recently, it's quite common for the surviving spouse of a long marriage(56 years in this case) to pop off shortly after. Ludo will be 87 this year, maybe he'll be joining Moira soonish. It would be a shame if he weren't on the list.

Well according to that imdb profile he was working last year. Can't say I've ever heard of him myself, nothing really notable in his body of work. I'd say not famous enough for DeathList, but a possible for the DDP as an outside bet.

Personally I think the highest culinary art form is the sandwich, so much variety is possible, my absolute favourite is roast chicken and stuffing made with granary bread.

I used to enjoy watching the reruns of McCloud (based on the Eastwood film Coogans Bluff). He deserves an obituary link.

    The Deathlist Howto

We've all got them, it just tells you what your warning status is, the Moderators have increased powers these days. All kinds of punishments can now be inflicted upon an errant member. I had imagined it was something like that, perhaps I phrased my original post badly. Whatt does 0% followe by four blue squares mean sepcifiacally. I notice you have no such tag and can't seem to find anyone else with one. Have I been a good or a bad boy? You can only see your own warning level, only Moderators and Admins can see everybodys. 0% means you have no warnings against you.

Now that Don Knotts has shuffled off I imagine the DDP will get a much needed update.
