    Michael Jackson

Two words: Media and fans. It's not about the person, it's about the myth the media create. The pilot who bellyflopped that plane in the Hudson. He never said he was a hero. The media did. Adolf Hitler was never a skin head, but is worshipped like a god by skinheads. Kylie Minogue is not gay, but is considered an icon of the gay scene. Celebrities are just people who, because of their job, talents and lure of money get exposure to lots of people. The problems start when the more feeble-minded in the audience (and celebs themselves) believe the hype and treat them differently to anyone else. Give them a kick up the arse, take their money away and put them in a real job and they'd soon show they're no more worthy (probably less so) than any one of the public that adores them.

Ay carumba, LFN, dueling bajo sounds as if it'd be a very civilised Mexican showdown.

    Warning!!!!!

Maybe, then again apperantly they havn't (yet) hacked my acount here maybe because it's not as important as my mail, so they'll probably won't do anything about it. Great idea thought, I'll start with this if I see that someone is misusing my acount here. How do we know this is you, not an impostor signed on as you, trying to hoodwink us?

    Rumours

Technical question for the lads to ponder. Is it at all possible to pull one off whilst confined within a straitjacket? I suppose that depends on whose it is.

It's more annoying as an ionised cloud that follows the offender around that, at the usual saturation levels some women insist on, burns any exposed mucus membranes. (For me that means nose and eyes, for other members of the DL community, it might mean other bits as well.)

    Mollie Sugden et al

I wonder if P!NK is going to do a tribute to Mollie? (Who was obviously a big influence on the singer's coiffure.)

Yep, totally agree Godot. The Eurostar train has a much better arrangement, in that if you wish to recline, then your own seat part slides forward and the "back" portion remains fixed, so you can recline without affecting the poor sod behind you. Much better all round -- if *you* wish to alter *your* seating, then that's what you do, without impinging on someone else. Rail 1 Planes 0.

Well done YiA. With a track record like yours, we might have a bit of a whiparound at DL Towers to fund a trip for you to go and see Maggie T and Ronnie Biggs. And whist you're there, pop in and have a cuppa with the Queen will you?

    Farrah Fawcett

Yep. Totally agree ie+ (welcome back BTW, yay!) Shame for such an icon to slip away unheralded just because Wacko did on the same day.

Like buses and plane crashes, let's hope celebrity deaths come in threes. Maggie T would be an excellent one to round the week off.

And I haven't seen an official confirmation from the Belgian Prime Minister yet. So until then it's all just conjecture.
  12. So, you've got eleven then.

I think your response also says a lot about you.... Mills and Boon anyone? LOL. Hardly. My point being optimistic rather than pessimistic.

I work for a crappy corporation and the last word of the acronym for their name is 'Solutions'. I work for a crappy corporation that claims to sell "solutions." I work for a crappy corporation, that requires the services of crappy corporations that claim to sell solutions, specifically because of the excellent problems I create.

    Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett has been hospitalised in California and is said to be undergoing urgent treatment. Jeez. This is getting pathetic. okay, I'll tell you what I really think. Ryan O'Neal is using Farrah. He's exploiting her illness for his own personal gain. He previously hyped up Farrah's illness, even to the point claiming that Farrah was clinging onto her "last days" in order to draw attention to the documentary which aired about a month ago. Now Ryan O'neal is again trying to exploit Farrah's illness and overhyping her "inevitable death" in order to gain attention. His wedding to Farrah is also being used to attract media attention as well as allow Ryan O'Neal to access Farrah's financials. At this point, I seriously think it's merciful to let her just die. ...or.... His long-standing love is approaching her imminent death due to a terrible disease and he wants to give her some happiness in her final days. It's probably her wish that they seal their commitment in life before the finality of death, and in some way, make a public commitment to their love for each other. That you are more focused on the former rather than the latter, says more about you and your perspective on life, than it does about Ryan and Farrah.

Like LFN, the general "Americanisation" of the British-English-speaking world. Words like "Buddy" instead of "Mate" Kids rolling their eyes and drawling "whateverrrr..." They even use an accent when doing it, just like they've seen at the flicks. Schoolgirls injecting "like" into any given sentence at seemingly random intervals. And while I'm at it, fake Cockney, or Mockney, accents like Jamie Fuckknuckle. ... I can't be bovvered, one-two-free, etc. Strewth it's about time Aussie kids brought back some good old Aussie colloquialisms.

"Should of" "Could of" People (mis)using "literally" when they mean virtually. "Yous" for you (plural). Pronouncing the letter H as haych People from somewhere other than the USA using the letter Zee instead of Zed. ... how many more am I allowed?
