With you so far... Lula, Silva, forests, metallurgy, 13, 17, Lucifer, Child... The best thing about this thread is the realization that there is actually a real person somewhere, typing this stuff. It reminds me of those horror movies where the lead character receives a menacing phone call, he/she calls the police, they trace the line (in this case, IP address) and they tell them it's COMING FROM UPSTAIRS!!! AAAAAaaagghh... Guest, where will this end? Is there some Oscar Niemeyer-related light at the end of your tunnel?

Read Any Good Books Lately?
Star Crossed replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
"Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost At Sea" by Steven Callahan (ocean survival) "Survive The Savage Sea" by Dougal Robertson (ocean survival) "Mind Over Matter" by Ranulph Fiennes (antarctic expedition) These three are all inspirational reads, all being true stories. I read Robertson's book when I was 11 or 12 and I remember it captivating me completely. Fiennes' book I only read last summer, but it gave me a real motivational boost. Gave me some strange dreams too when read before bedtime. Edited to add: NO DEATH IN THESE BOOKS -
A darts player. He might be going out of... his way to find a KFC drive-thru.

This is getting interesting... Lula, you say? Goat, alcohol, breath, star... yes. Mystery Guest, do you have any news on King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV of Tonga? He's been under wraps for weeks now; maybe you know something?

DDT, you're on the money. I smell conspiracy... maybe our Fidel Castro/Oscar Niemeyer/Communism/Nazism guest-rant-theorist has some news?

Sir, I find myself ill-equipped to refute your assertions. Do continue...

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
Star Crossed replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Congratulations maryportfuncity, a more worthy twunt I've never encountered -
If that's the case, I added about four weeks onto my life last night. Thanks so much Albert, for all you've given to humanity. The insight, the beauty, the creativity and the love.

Grand Duchess Josephine-charlotte(luxembourg's Qm)
Star Crossed replied to Earl Gloomy's topic in DeathList Forum
I've been told the party is worth the trip. regards, Hein I did last night, in a big way, which is why I'm posting this late tonight. I have taken the week off work in tribute to the good man. I actually intended to post on the Hofmann thread last night, whilst under the influence of Lucy, but of course I forgot; the computer became redundant, the stereo vital. Thanks Albert, thanks a million for all the insight, beauty and fun you've brought to our world. -
Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries Etc...2006
Star Crossed replied to Tuber Mirum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Surely it was only 1 day until you posted that, Windsor? Or have you been celebrating Anubis' 37th with a 60-hour bender of your own? -
Some Tongan titbits for you all... Tonga hits rock bottom 7.1 magnitude earthquake rocks Tonga's rock bottom, unlike Maxi Priest who only half-filled Queen Salote Memorial Hall King of Lovers' Rock, Maxi Priest, manages to half-fill Queen Salote Memorial Hall, Nuku'alofa. Tonga rocks! If you're a slacker at heart like me, this is the place to "work". Futuristic, harmonious Tongan work/life balance demonstrated here... Fat man catches large fish with bait/hook assembly. The pinnacle of human achievement? I hope you enjoy at least one or two of those. Some thoughts on why I enjoy this thread in particular... I didn't know who King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV (T4) was until I started reading DL last year. Now I know more about him than about any other monarch, probably. I have DL to thank for that. The DL equation works out something roughly like this for me; Education + Death + Humour + Statistics + Hunch + Rumour = Mirth & Knowledge. I pity the fool who can't find humour and education at DL. Ultimately, we celebrate the lives of the individuals involved; indeed, we add (often greatly) to the collective awareness of their contribution to society (with some notable exceptions, of course). T4 is a big man (in many ways) in his own little part of the world. Most people have heard of Tonga, but I don't think more than 20% of the british population could point to it on a map. I don't know a single person outside this forum who has ever heard of T4 (no, not that T4); I'm unlikely to encounter someone with whom I can discuss tongan politics, economics or society, the track listing on T4's iPod, or the size of his last meal, but it's enough that I can, the simple satisfaction of being better educated. The brain's infinite capacity for memory storage is surely one of the great joys of being human; all this knowledge gained and at what cost? A little eye strain? Worth the ticket price, imho. Fair enough, none of it's practical unless I emigrate to Tonga, but it's great just to KNOW this stuff. T4's out there, living, breathing, ruling right now and we're watching, waiting, ruminating. I fully understand the Admin team's reluctance to put T4 on the DL 2006. He's only 86, he's well-fed, well-entertained and absolutely loaded. Granted, he's under-exercised but, generally, he lives the life of the top aristocrat that he is. Like George Foreman in his heavier (pre-grill) days, he may look wasted and ship a lot of punishment, but you know he's capable of absorbing a lot of it. Durable. I feel a sense of satisfaction and even, dare I say it, pride in knowing that my interest in Tonga is just as durable. I'll be keeping tabs on Tonga and T4 for a while yet. Who knows, one day I might pop across there, maybe book a room at the Sandyboyz Motel and just soak up the sunshine (and, naturally, try to blag a meet-and-greet with T4)... If I'm still a DLer a decade from now, I hope to see him nearer the top of the selection list. Until then he remains one to keep watch over... Bow down and kiss the ring. Yours, Star Crossed

I would presume that Anubis had a great time on his birthday, judging from the party footage on his new avatar How's Clive?

As a disebodied spirit I return straight from Fidel Castro thread. I have decided to terrorrize Oscar. He will be 99 this year.(Bestial Age )He was the mastermind behind Brasilia ,founded in 1960. On the Top of Planalto Central ( Strange name, PC stands for Partido Communista=Communist Party). You can see the prediction of a beast to come. The name ALLU is there and means demonic power in Sumerian mythology, that is also with these letters that we form the name of the current communist President of Brazil LULA. There is a dish (U)of food facing the sky on the right and another symbol standing for A. The sound that leter U has in Portuguese moves your belly muscles and stands for Lula´s FOME ZERO(=Hunger Zero )Program. Letter A stands for power of speech. Lula speaks of Hunger, but does little to help solve the problem. what seems to be very strange is that Lula was the 6th President to be elected after the fall of the military rule in Brazil. He was elected President in 2002, 42 years after it was finished.( tobe continued...) ... and, as we all know, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question. The plot thickens...

Many happy returns, Anubis. -
I hope they took some photocopies of his arrest warrant; they may be needing more of them in the future...

Please, please register Anne! Superb rant, I'm sure you've lots more to give.

On my own list she is stable in the number 5 spot. I have 40 canidates on my list with 10 deaths. I'm hoping to reach into the teens. Shouldn't this be moved to the Gary Glitter thread? Sorry.

Thanks, Hope your hangover is a small one. With a bit of luck I'll see you both on 4/2/06. Hangover was cured by the traditional Scottish breakfast..... bacon, tattie scones, square sausage, black pudding, fried eggs and Irn Bru, hopefully see you on the 4th What a superb feast! Lorne sausage and tattie scones, lol! Makes me pine for the fjords, or at least the mean streets of Dennistoun. Those were the days, my friends, when Barr's Irn Bru could, almost literally, cure anything. To wit, a friend of mine at Uni was run over by a car in the centre of Glasgow but managed to hobble back to the flat with a broken leg (needless to say, we weren't in any way sober at the time; a handful of Possil's finest class A's and a healthy dose of Tennents' Super saw to that). After a night on our couch and several large glasses of the bru, he was fine when he boarded the ambulance the next morning. The paramedics said it was probably the Irn Bru that stemmed the internal bleeding and prevented his premature demise*. * That last sentence is a lie.

No, you are not alone. Personally, I don't believe in any afterlife, but your example seems a fitting one for such a chief bigot, or for any "my religion will kick your religion's ass"-type zealot.

A bad miss for DL and a very, very bad miss for myself. A member of the DDP and Hartlepool Deadlypool, I had 30 chances to get this guy on my list. He ranks right up there with my most hated right-wing politicians, had already suffered a stroke, is one of the most assassination-worthy individuals on the face of the planet and I STILL didn't pick him. Gutted. There's Thatcher, plodding along nicely; I picked her on both of my dead pools (more out of spite than statistical probability), yet that filthy, lying, conniving, savage sh*t Sharon didn't even get a look-in? "Remiss" doesn't come close to describing it. I should sue myself for negligent malpractice. Maybe I will...

Pardon me, sorry to interrupt the bickering... I've been away for a while. Windsor, you're a moderator?

Interesting, nonetheless. A similar phenomenon was discussed in the fictional series "Charmed" when the character of Leo Wyatt (killed in action 1942 and subsequently reincarnated with supernatural powers and immortality in order to help the good witches) meets his former comrades (now, obviously, much older-looking than him) and has to pretend he's his own grandson. It seems these things happen more frequently than one might assume. Nice one, Charley. Bet you thought you'd seen the last of this thread and, indeed, Basil Convery...
