Well worth going off-topic for that. Lucid, well-founded and eloquently delivered. I tip my hat, VB.

"The Queen enjoyed their customary sunday afternoon cabaret, but the King insisted on listening to his 50 Cent album."

Any particular reason why? My mother told me that would happen to me as well. She also said it would give me hairy palms but so far, so good... I find washing my hands with 'Immac' solves that problem. Apparently it's called Veet these days. You obviously haven't needed any for a while, Mr josco Aha! So it really CAN be manly to depilate. Veet. It’s the smartest way to achieve a smoothness that lasts.

Chest freezer in the shed outside. Peas out, body in... (turn down the thermostat, keep that cadaver real chilled but not frozen) (Edited by me to add the geek details)

And to get back on topic... I read this thread last night. I've always been interested in euthanasia in it's various forms. I'm sure many of us have known close friends or relatives who have reached that point in their life where they feel that there should be an easier way out which leaves nobody with the burden of responsibility. Then... about half an hour ago I watched a random episode of "Diagnosis Murder" (cheap american medical detective drama starring dick van dyke et al); the plot centred on a doctor who was involved in assisted suicide. The basics of both sides of the euthanasia argument were made clear, the conclusion (whether said doctor was guilty of 2nd-degree manslaughter) was left open. Then... i just saw this on the news about 3 minutes ago! Is it "international euthanasia week"? It's good to talk...

And how about some Blairs. And Browns. Give me a "B"! Give me a "U"! Give me an "S"! Give me an "H"! and his feckless offspring.

Makes more sense than Santa being on the pill... I voted yes, I'm pro-choice. Democracy knows only one true path.

Ok, we'll stop it. Sorry. Everyone agreed? Good, let's not talk about Mr. Doherty any more. No more posts on this thread, people, starting from... NOW.

How Do I Display An Image In My Post?
Star Crossed replied to Star Crossed's topic in DeathList Forum
Many thanks, GR. Ah, these internetty things... sometimes one can struggle to get something to work, sometimes things go so much more smoothly. After reading your reply, it took me about 7 mouse-clicks to register with a free image host. Mission Accomplished. I tried to take full advantage of this new-found resource on the King of Tonga thread. Knowledge gained, skills learned. What more could I ask for? Cheers GR. (Medium-sized jiffy-bag of kudos on its way under plain brown wrap.) -
Looks like more stress for the big man's overburdened ticker... It's good to see that the responsible folk of Tonga don't take kindly to pribery. They presumably harbour a dislike for curruption and embezzelment too, unlike the King's official Court Jester. Here we see the King in lighter mood enjoying, I'd like to think, a performance from the aforementioned jester. He looks pretty chipper; "unnatural causes" may have to account for his demise if it's to happen in the next few years, IMHO. I had a look on Deathclock on his behalf; he should have died on Tuesday, 14th April 1992 (yep, you guessed it, it was the 45+ BMI that sealed it for him). Maybe he is just a very, very, very optimistic chap? That will stand him in good stead if his country's turmoil deepens.

If sitting in front of a computer for long periods has anything to do with longevity, there are a few DLers who can expect to live a very, very long time. p.s. How do i "paste" an image into my post? Come on, someone help me out here...

Apologies if this is duplication of anyone's effort but Anubis, is your new Avatar a reference to the people of Hartlepool and their previous naval injustices? They all look alike to me Edited by me to remove needless quote. -
I wouldn't normally lower myself, but I simply have to call *BULLSHIT!* on this one. I'm not a particular fan of Cobain's but come on, Poppet, have a word with yourself. Do you honestly believe that Doherty will have any sort of lasting legacy on the music world? His dealers will miss their weekly pay packet and a few ardent fans may mourn his loss, but let's not start with the "He's the next Hendrix/Morrison/Cobain" nonsense, we're all too tired to read any more of that...

RIP Simon Wiesenthal. Good work chap! I know, I'm late again but I've got a good excuse, honest guv. I'll recount the tale for your perusal... 10:00 this morning, I'm sat in a dentist's chair with the right side of my lower jaw and tongue utterly numb. The beautiful, charming Charlotte Constantine (Florence Nightingale syndrome kicks in big-time at the dentist. She is lovely though, and we'd already discussed the deaths at the Great North Run yesterday, she having run said race in a respectable 2 hours) is busy shaving a molar, ready for a temporary crown to be fitted. BBC Radio 2 is playing in the background; it's time for the news bulletin... "Simon Wiesenthal, famous Nazi Hunter, has died aged 96." Upon hearing this, I knew there'd be a frenzy of activity on DL and I instinctively let out a wail of dismay that I would not be the first to report it (as well as being genuinely sad that he's bought the farm). Needless to say, Charlotte took this to mean that I was in agony and she retracted the drill from my mouth shortly before her assistant Julie removed the suction thing (private dentist, top service ). With my mouth numb and full of bits of tooth and saliva, I tried to explain that I was ok "ah bine, caee on" (I'm fine, carry on). My lopsided, drooling smile hinted at my amusement at the situation. When the ordeal was over, I tried to explain that I was reacting to the news, saddened by the death of Simon Wiesenthal. Both ladies smiled politely. "No toffees or chewing gum. We'll see you in 10 days." Lightning doesn't strike twice, I know, but maybe, just maybe, we can look forward to another celebrity obituary, sometime after 11:00 on the 30th September? I've never been so excited about going to the dentist.

Apparently someone's been slipping Mr. Pinochet some sly cash... the plot thickens.

Pinochet stripped of immunity That's a shame. Will DL get its first execution? We can but hope...

Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Mudslides
Star Crossed replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in DeathList Forum
That Tsunami comparison certainly takes the piss, although we can draw a parallel with the apparent lack of immediate federal response to the disaster. Considering all the extra tax dollars that have gone into "Emergency preparedness and response" over the past few years, the response seems a tad muted at best. -
