Brinsworth, you are an incurable romantic. Was it one of the Bronte's who first used the term 'doable' of a young woman? Pooka, I have thought about this. You have, in my humble opinion, the coolest Avatar. The End Why, thank you, Fellatio. Though I prefer to think of it as a portrait rather than an avatar.

The word translates to 'worthless' so it's very clear. So yes I'm mocking your beliefs. I'm a walking - talking atheist to this comment of 'The Pook!' BS - teams of codebreakers could work for years at deciphering your communications. Its an almost impenetrable code. You are a genius.

Wrong on both counts, I believe.

    Oliver Norvill Hardy

Agree. Word magazine had an interesting 20 best and worst comedy double acts ever feature last month. Laurel and Hardy were deemed the best. The 20 worst was pretty bang on capturing some of the comedy dross of all time. Cannon and Ball, Little and Large etc were all there. Hale and Pace were hands down the worst. I think it was them who were described as the only comedy duo with two straight men.

    Greatest Deaths Ever

Did he die wanking too? I thought both Hutchence and Milligan died from asphxiation while carrying out a five knuckle shuffle test. Indeed. Surprised that they died as I believe that they were in good hands........

    Death List Convention

This looks very exciting. If its held in London, I wonder if you could avoid the Twickenham area. I am excluded from a zone around a certain house there. I had a good military friend, a General Belgrano I recall, who came a cropper for ignoring these zones.

So long in the wings? It wasn't that long. The time simply flew in C wing.
  9. A very late thank you maninblack. I have, alas, not been free to respond before now. Thankfully, I am now at liberty to respond. Have you been in jail? A slight misunderstanding led to a temporary removal of some life choices. All sorted now ............. Ha, I was right! Come on, spill the beans! A tall tree, Brinsworth House, binoculars ......and thou? Please don't talk of beans. My most recent landlord gave me a particularly restricted diet. Fortunately, I am now free to enjoy the life of the bon viveur. Although given your mention of the tree (above) any reference to the high life is painful to contemplate.

  11. Thank you Six. Thank you also to Canadian Paul, Heaven Can Wait, Deadsox, Handrejka, football fan, Real Madron, Slave to the Grave, Captain Oates, Six and Carol Ann for your good wishes and cakes and cards. Due to an intensive research project in which I was central in assisting the researchers with a number of enquiries I have been unable to respond until now. The project has now been completed and I hope to be back in circulation for some time..........

  13. A very generous thought TLC. Regrettably I have been labouring hard for a few months and have not been able to respond until now.
  14. A very belated thank you Slave to the G. I have recently been detained on a small project and have not been able to respond as freely as I would have wished.

You cannot turn your back on Brinsworth for a second. There's always something brewing. While R O'S might be fine for the odd cameo, it looks as if this play would have required someone with a bit more stamina than Dickie can muster.

    The Boys Of '66

This is a well-used saying in our house, usually the night after a meat feast pizza or a night on the ale - 'Jesus Mr L, my ass must look like the flag o' Japan'. And I still subscribe to Viz. Oooo me Chalfonts. I think that Viz had to stop the Nobby Stiles' piles strip when the World Cup hero threatened to sue.

Arnold was Tony Blackburn's dog on his shows. O'Sullivan stole Blackburn's wife, the divine Tessa Wyatt. Was Arnold the nom de plume of Blackburn, I wonder.

In today's Sunday Times he refers to his left leg having 'vast bubbling and oozing craters'. Potential for necrotising fasciitis, tetanus or gas gangrene methinks............. ......... give 'em a scratch Mikey.

The 20/20 World Cup starts in September 07 (and probably finishes in March 08 if recent events are a guide). South Africe should offer the best odds. You are right MIB this was a terrible World Cup with, despite Woolmer's best efforts, little to excite.

A classic song. Great song - but only to be played where there is suicide really.............. or even a suicide pact.

A true bi-polar disorder would have almost certainly resulted in hospitalitation and treatment at some point - possibly under the Mental Health Act. Haven't heard anything that suggests that this is the case.

Wrong, wrong wrong my dear boy. We WERE the bullies at school. We moved away from home as soon as we could. As for being virgins -we shag anything that moves - 'cept maybe that dull slag that you take to be your partner.

Yes! Mmmmm..... but why was a three year sentence known as a carpet? Here's one theory. A lot pf rhyming slang sites indicate it was slang for three months rather than years originally. Excellent research CA - have 10 DL credits towards a Masters.

    Where [was] Kurt Vonnegut?

I removed him from my list too. Thinking that he looked fine albeit a tad frail.Other than that he seemed to be in good spirits and not likely to drop dead for at least another year. Weird though, i just lent a copy of Slaughterhouse Five to a work colleague of mine only yesterday ..... and I'm currently reading it for the first time since 1973. So it goes ........ (as KV would have put it). Have just checked and the last words I read were, 'So Billy experiences death for a while. It is simply violet light and a hum. There isn't anybody else there........' Spooky. Well I guess he'll now know if he was right.
