On the subject of Savile, it's worth reminding ourselves just what those tributes actually were before the BBC revise them from history and pretend they never happened: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15507826 http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-15053431 http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-15507486

I await the shit Channel 4 mockumentary The Execution of Ian Watkins

Well they are Welsh... Shit anecdote: one of my best mates is the cousin of the bassist and went to his wedding, along with other members of the band

BBC reporting that he now has a "respiratory infection" but is "stable"

Interesting - why Borgonovo and Nolan - I would've said they are pretty strong candidates? I've got 16 of my 20 locked in, so I've got space for last minute entries and to weigh up between Nolan, Buell, Presley and Talabani... 5 year medium survival rate, diagnosed 2008, wasn't Borgonovo? ALS and motor neurone type diseases get folk in the end. Del Deanus, the former Edgware Town manager mentioned a few times on here, died last month, but he seemed to have disappeared off the radar. Mind you, I only remembered him because I stumbled across CP's old mega post the other day looking for hints... Joost van der Westhuizen was given 2-5 years with ALS. Gianluca Signorini survived for 4 years with it. So yeah, Borgonovo's definitely staying on mine, even though I've heard nothing on his health. Might even make him joker if my current one doesn't make it, although I have a couple of candidates for that. The only caveat is that there is a small chance he might not get an obit

Latest is that Mandela is making "satisfactory" progress but "needs extra care" and the doctors are "in no hurry to send him home" Yeah, I'll give him 2 weeks

You just can't take any chances these days - those Albanians get everywhere these days Cheers Hein

Any chance I can become "Red Flag"? Decided that a bit more anonymity might be useful

Bollocks. I now feel a lot less confident about my DDP team

Should add that Charlie Adam Sr was also a professional footballer (up until 1994) in the Scottish leagues - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Adam_(footballer_born_1962)

Yeah, I'm expecting to trip up because of that - I suspect I've over-thought. My 2012 list was done over an hour on New Year's Eve, and I've done relatively well this year despite not picking any particularly obscure candidates. I've been working on my 2013 list for a few months and have 50-odd names on a longlist (though in part because I wanted to do a DL Shadow List), plus 20-odd for my theme team, most of whom are separate. But I'm not going to expect to do better, because not all the hot candidates will die - it's not guaranteed that Mandela won't recover from his illness or that Chopper Read is exaggerating his cancer If there's one thing this site has taught me about death in the years I've been lurking here, it's to expect the unexpected with death - I know it's an obvious statement to make but I doubt anyone would've expected al-Megrahi to last nearly 3 years after his release, or that Zsa-Zsa is still with us, or indeed that Biggs is still going. Sometimes the human body defies logic. Hence my reluctance to put pancreatic cancer sufferers on my list, because Sod's Law dictates that the one pancreatic cancer sufferer I stick on my DDP team is going to be the one that defies science and survives

Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?

Number of fatalities escalating quickly. If they are true, it's already worse than Columbine I know people say this a lot, but how many more kids have got to die before the US sorts its shit out? -
For a moment I thought about taking him off, but I guess it's worth leaving him on given that everyone else is likely to take him off
-
Even if he makes it through this one for the next few days/weeks, you'd have to start seriously considering him for next year
-
Would be odd things to say if he was actually dead. But then this is the brother of the guy that married Katie Price after a fling on a jungle-based reality TV show. Anything's possible, I guess
-
Balls. Was going to be my joker
-
All the people paying tribute just shows how it doesn't matter if you're a racist, sexist, homophobic right wing bigot as force of personality will win through in the end regardless
-
What with Carson going earlier this year, not a good year for ageing UKIP members
-
Amazed we didn't have a thread for Patrick Moore but he's dead http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20657939 EDIT: Oh we did, it was just buried deeper than I though

O'Sullevan. Got a feeling there's a big(-ish) sports death around the corner. There usually is

Here's your BBC obit

Slipped back a little bit of late but top 30 is still exceeding my expectations by a long way. But I'm just hoping to avoid Second Season Syndrome - my choices (thus far) for next year are probably more thought out than last year's but sometimes you can rationalise it too much. It's inevitable that some of the cancer sufferers will survive and some of the ALS sufferers will live another year Got a couple of wildcards in there but by no means guaranteed to snuff it
-
Latest, including pics He doesn't great but doesn't look like he's about to snuff it either, so I guess his treatment must be going OK
