Hope I haven't missed it be mentioned, but that photo of Savile, Bruno and Sutcliffe has taken on another dimension now

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-19838411 Doesn't look like he's dying, given that he wasn't expected to see the elections

Didn't he say he didn't think he'd live into old age or words to that effect?

As mentioned in the 2012 deaths thread, American motorsport commentator Chris Economaki has died at the age of 91

BBC My 7th hit of the year. Might just sneak into the top 20 of the DDP with this. Not that I like to gloat or anything. Also should close up the battle for the lead

Daily Star chief football writer and host of Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement Brian Woolnough has died of bowel cancer

Cheers for that OoO. I've been putting together a motorsport theme team for next year's DDP of late. Confirms some of those I'd already added Murray's an interesting one. Over the last couple of years he has gone downhill a bit - he's certainly no longer as sharp as he was even when he retired. But he still gets around, and I believe his mother reached 100, so it would be a brave pick for an overall DDP team How's Mauro Forghieri doing these days? He's 77 now. And on a similar designer-related note, Ron Tauranac is 87 now. Also I think Sir Frank Williams would be a good shout, as he seems to be getting increasingly frail The one I don't think will get an obit but is almost certain to go soon is Darrell Eastlake, the Australian commentator, who has Alzheimer's, dementia and emphysema

Twitter has exploded with talk that Professor Sid Watkins, former chief F1 medic who saved the lives of Mika Hakkinen, Rubens Barrichello and Martin Donnelly amongst others, has died at the age of 84. Quite a big F1 passing if true, but yet to be confirmed

Mandela's death (and Thatcher's) would be treated as if it were bigger (I'm sure the Guardian would live-blog both), but I think Armstrong is more significant. The Moon landing is iconic. "One small step..." is one of the most famous quotes in history. It would have to be someone extremely famous getting murdered, like Obama (as already mentioned) or Madonna, to top it

Yeah, various media org's tweeting it now There's your Big Death of the Year. Sad news

No need for the poll - Winnie Johnson has died. Just breaking now

Another Celebrity Rehab victim? Well there's a surprise...

Shit. I was working out how many WRC event winners have died the other day - an increasing number as it began in the 70s so those at the top are getting on a bit, alongside relative youngsters like Burns and McRae who we've lost over the past few years. Another one to add to the list - the last driver to win a WRC rally without 4 wheel drive

Dancer and choreographer Nigel Charnock has left the stage for the last time at 52

Ex-Rangers, Sunderland and Man City footballer Claudio Reyna's 13 year old son Jack has died after battling cancer. Awful -
Dara O'Briain has retweeted a tweet from someone saying that Clive James has said (via his agent) that the story (i.e. the idea that he's at death's door) is "bollocks" That sounds horribly convoluted but basically Clive James has said the idea that he's at death's door is "bollocks"

Hit number 5 then. Wasn't sure if he was on the list at first - could have sworn he was but then I searched for his name and couldn't find him (I guess because Ray is less than 4 letters and doesn't get picked up)

The Bee Gees vs Chaka Khan Big Train sketch. They even got the right order of their deaths!

I voted for Stephen Hawking on the other thread so I'll stick with that now

The founding editor of Ceefax, Colin McIntyre. Comes just days after it was switched off in London. It'll be gone everywhere else before the year is out
