    FIFA World Cup Players

From what I know of it, 94 was generally one of the better ones - loads of great goals and big moments. 1990, 2002 and 2010 tend to be regarded as the worst. I remember 2002 well as it was my 2nd World Cup and won a football because of Brazil winning, but the football wasn't great, there were loads of injuries, the big teams and players mostly underperformed, there were some really bad refereeing decisions (hi there Byron Moreno), and some players were probably doped up to the eyeballs (but hey, it's sport, what's new?)

18th July, 3 a.m. Also think it'll be a girl. I know it's supposed to be a "surprise" but I get the impression the baby being a girl is strongly being hinted at

    The Chequered Flag

NASCAR veteran Morgan Shepherd will likely become the oldest driver to start a Sprint Cup Series race this weekend at the age of 71. I don't think he is expected to compete for victory, though, as he hasn't won a race in the series for 20 years He's not the oldest NASCAR driver ever, though. James Hylton raced in the second tier Nationwide Series in 2011 at 76. He's still racing too but plans to retire at the end of the season

...although by me there are 2 teams now into/back into the top 20 because of this, so quite important for those of us clamouring to get into or stay in the top 20, even if those at the top missed him

One of the Chinese girls who got out and survived the plane crash was run over by an emergency vehicle talk about final destination in real life. I've heard this on a few sites but never seen any actual evidence that it's true? The BBC say the coroner is investigating it - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23222048

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

So only 1 person has been picked by over half the current top 11, but those 6 that have picked Crowe are currently 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th=, 5th= and 9th Of the rest, Bush and James aren't guaranteed to go, Mandela probably is but is only worth 5 points, and Pardee probably isn't getting that obit now. Jardine, Granger and Buell are quite important - I'm pleased that I've got 2 of them. Buell and Jardine are the only jokers amongst the top 20 still alive Everyone else is a toss-up

    Nelson Mandela

Obviously last year was officially 2 deaths on the same day. The last time there were deaths on consecutive days was 2004, when it happened twice - first Peter Ustinov and Alistair Cooke in March, and then Red Adair and Fay Wray in August

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

I was quite surprised at how few of the leading contenders had Mandela - only DDT of the top 6 and about half the top 20. I suppose there's not a huge pay-off but it's virtually guaranteed points on the board

    Derby Dead Pool 2013

Worked out that if Buell, Jardine, Stephen Lewis, Mandela, Metsu and van der Westhuizen go before this is out, I've got a decent chance of winning - I'd end up with 114 points. But that's a long shot as it'd require others' team members not dying, particularly Spade's (and I think it's unlikely that both Kalashnikov and Price will see the year out) This is very close. Very few unique hits so far. Lots of dying people out there. This will come down to a couple of demises or survivals that we don't expect. I'm regretting leaving Franklin and Anne Williams out at the moment

    Nelson Mandela

Court papers say he's in a permanent vegetative state and doctors have recommended his life support be turned off, but that was apparently from 26th June so who knows what to believe
