DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Bibliogryphon replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Its uses being dependent on the triple helix that make it Collagen. Although, the similarities between its use in sausage casing and leather manufacture are not always obvious, and it surprises people when told, there are many overlaps. Our primary process to treat the collagen is just an extension of leather manufacture, using the same technology and chemicals to prepare the hides. The whole process is based upon the pH swelling curve of collagen and although more extreme than in leather manufacture there are clear similarities. The shrinkage of the collagen is also critical, not in the same way as leather but the parallels are obvious as is the use of cross-linking agents to stabilise the collagen, these agents are just an extension of tanning agents. -

I am at a conference today and the current speaker is talking about making sausage skins from Collagen. Great fun for a vegetarian. -
Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Last time I did it I was bottom left but not too far off the centre. Seems a fairly solid group of us in that quadrant. -

Well despite the flurry of excitement on the exit of two lingering crowdsourced picks it has not occupied me enough to prevent a list of 20 from NOW 2. I have avoided artists on NOW 1 which means this will get more difficult. I have also included group members if I used the lead singer on Now One. NOW TWO Brian May (b.1947) Nik Kershaw (b.1958) Nena (b.1960) Cyndi Lauper (b.1953) Matthew Wilder (b.1953) Joe Fagin (b.1940) Snowy White (b.1948) Holly Johnson (b.1960) Annie Lennox (b.1954) Morrissey (b.1959) Thomas Dolby (b.1958) Mick Jagger (b.1943) Noddy Holder (b.1946) Paul McCartney (b.1942) Carmel McCourt (b.1958) Tom Bailey (b.1956) Bruce Watson (b.1961) Jon Moss (b.1957) Nick Rhodes (b.1962) Dave Stewart (b.1952) The three noticeable departed are David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Stuart Adamson.

I had a lucky escape Le Duc Anh was on the list I would have played if we weren't allowed to roll over. Phew. Doesn't look like anyone else had him.

I will update the winning list but looking at my boxers my lack of expertise in this area becomes apparent. I have gone for fame and recognisability rather than those known to have severe issues.

Damn! Ken Kercheval was one of my subs on this list.

Before I started deadpooling I had never heard of him. Whilst Royalty is a legitimate pick there was always someone more famous.
-
I am now at 4 hits after The Grand Duke. Not a great score almost a third of the way through the year but it is better than 1.

Robert Mugabe please
-
Kenneth Kaunda please
-
Well if you pick him next year he will lose his eligibility for Unusual Suspects 2021 so here's hoping death will chase him and catch him this year
-
The only time I have really encountered him is on Radio 2 in Zoe Ball old slot. A little annoying but nowhere near Jonathon Ross levels of anger inducing.

Thoughts and opinions on the death list 2019
Bibliogryphon replied to The Mad Hatter's topic in DeathList Forum
Between Day 100 (10 April) and Day 200 (19 July) in recent years the worst performance was 2011 when there was one hit. The best performance was 2015 when there were six hits. In 2014 which is the lowest at this stage there were two hits. The good news is there were hits. -
University of Southern Carolina pay tribute not a QO but might alert some film buffs

Well I did say this so @Prophet has to hope such an obit turns up before the game gets any tighter.
-
This was within the period of the competition so this counts and gives @Prophet the seventh hit in this poll. Still waiting for someone to get a second hit though.

There is always space for this type of intensive frenzy and at the moment it feels like we need more pools to keep us all occupied during this drought

Thinking of the NOW albums which have got to the point where there are more than 100. I got to thinking about the original NOW album (released in 1983) and created a list of 20 potential Deathlist picks. This is not comprehensive as I have omitted members of groups outside of recognisable lead singers. The only dead solo artist from NOW ONE is Malcolm McLaran. 1. Phil Collins (b.1951) 2. Simon Le Bon (b.1958) 3. Limahl (b.1958) 4. Glenn Gregory (b.1958) 5. Harry Wayne Casey (b.1951) 6. Bonnie Tyler (b.1951) 7. Boy George (b.1961) 8. Mike Oldfield (b.1953) 9. Rod Stewart (b.1945) 10. Paul Young (b.1956) 11. Tina Turner (b.1939) 12. Phil Oakey (b.1955) 13. Howard Jones (b.1955) 14. Peabo Bryson (b.1951) 15. Roberta Flack (b.1937) 16. Tracey Ullman (b.1959) 17. Lynn Goldsmith (Will Powers) (b.1948) 18. Robert Smith (b.1959) 19. Jim Kerr (b.1959) 20. Suggs (b.1961) If we don't get some action soon I might have to look at some of the other NOW albums
