The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Bibliogryphon replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Fun Time, could the parliament act not be used though? Yes but they should take note of objections from the HoL at the first passing of the bill. The Parliament act is for where there is an impasse. It should not be used as a tool to avoid debate -
The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Bibliogryphon replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The referendum was advisory it allowed the people to express their will. Which was a marginal decision amongst those who bothered to vote to leave the European Union. In order to leave the European Union the Government has to trigger Article 50 but in doing so will break the act of Parliament from 1973 which took us into the European Parliament. The decision in the high court today was that to revoke that piece of legislation needs the consent of parliament. Some MPs will vote as their constituencies voted but that has to work both ways for example would Zac Goldsmith vote with the majority of Richmond voters who want to remain, but this vote will really allow Parliament to shape the type of relationship we want from the EU after we take our leave. It could be that enough Conservative remainers led by Ken (I have nothing to lose) Clarke actually resign the whip and thereby remove Theresa May's working majority in the House of Commons. The High Court did not decide that Article 50 should not be invoked but that it requires the consent of parliament. oh and the House of Lords! -
Just a note for when you get round to updating any bios it says Estelle Harris was born in 2028.

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Bibliogryphon replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The Governement has just lost the high court challenge and the ruling states that the triggering of Article 50 needs the consent of parliament. The Government has decided to appeal and this will be heard at the beginning of December. If they lose the appeal then the date of 2019 is looking much less likely. -

Bibliogryphon replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
In that case she might already be dead;) I hate both candidates for the record ! Obama was a good president, but both of the candidates in this election is SHITE!!! That would be ARE SHITE!!! I think you will find. Or possibly EACH of the candidates in this election is SHITE!!! Bit harsh on Jill Stein -

one dead Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness

I just saw a clip of Martin McGuiness attending some sort of cross border meeting to discuss the implications of Brexit. He is beginning to look frail. Do we know of any underlying issues? -
Who Do You Think Will Be Elected President Of The United States In 2016?
Bibliogryphon replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
There is an interesting game on the BBC website where you can assign the swing states to each candidate. I think that, whoever wins, they will be a one term president. -
She was born in 1939 so she's 77. We have been discussing 2017 too much and I forgot we weren't already there.

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Bibliogryphon replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Close.... ....In Kettering. In truth I am an expert for an EU TBT project. So the EU are paying my company and all my costs. Travelling economy though. Is it Teddy Bear Times or Tequila Beer Tacos? That list knows the answer. -
Prince Mikasa, Curly Putnam, Bap Kennedy, Sir Nicholas Braithwaite or Natalie Babbit could be in the frame. Still a couple of days to go. Maybe a key DL pick could go to the top of the pile.

Just been reading his wiki page and this stood out for me Lonely Street, Serendipity and Moonlight Kiss (2000–05)[edit source]After returning to the UK, Kennedy briefly managed an Elvis impersonator named The King, and was the producer for The King’s album Gravelands – a collection of songs by other deceased artists performed in the style of Elvis Presley.[5] The record became a firm favourite of John Peel and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.[5] Clearly one of ours

When my daughter was in year 6 (age 10) her primary school held a fancy dress disco all her friends were really snooty about it and decided they weren't going to dress up she was determined to do so and she went as the BBC kids TV character Raven complete with drawn on beard and Raven staff not only did she come home with a big box of chocolates for best costume all the Year 3s followed her round. However it seems to have given her a bit of a but as now 10 years later she goes to conventions and 'cosplays'

Hasen't JoeyRuss got in before you with Glynis Johns?

All those entries from biblios at 6:01 are in this current pool. I meant from the beginning, apart from those who have since fallen off the perch. I take it that's a no, then. No but I will do one. Cheers. I was wondering how difficult it would be to add more candidates. I created a data base with a minimum of eight names for year year/sex category so that I know I will have options if I can get my entry in in the first eight.

Putting aside the question of why, this is an interesting piece of analysis. Of the '57 names, Tab is writing books, Paul is still performing, Harry is still an activist and Tommy is crap as Glen Miller (a horrendous piece of miscasting). Hard to say who would go first (though Tommy Steele is dying more often). What about letting us see the rest of the lists? Here are the lists.I have expanded 67 but left the groups intact for 77. 1957 Tommy Steele Tab Hunter Paul Anka Harry Bellafonte Jerry Allison (The Crickets) 1967 Petula Clark Englebert Humpadink Nancy Sinatra Sandie Shaw Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith (The Monkees) Brian Poole, Rick Westwood, Len Hawkes (The Tremeloes) Gary Brooker, Keith Reid, Matthew Fisher, Ray Royer, David Knights (Procul Harem) Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr (The Beatles) Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees) 1977 David Soul Julie Covington Leo Sayer ABBA (All surviving) Deneice Williams Rod Stewart Kenny Rogers Manhatten Transfer The Jacksons Hot Chocolate (minus Errol Brown) Brotherhood of Man The Floaters (?) Baccara Wings (2/3) I have no idea about whether any of The Floaters are still alive. Wiki gives the names but no more info. For those who are interested moving on to 1987 gives us a 82.4% survival rate notable fallers include Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Ben E King and Mel Appleby I have included the full list 1987 Steve Silk Hurley Aretha Frankin/George Michael Ben E King Boy George Mel & Kim Ferry Aid (17/20 heaadline performers still alive) Madonna Starship Whitney Houston The Firm Pet Shop Boys Los Lobos Michael Jackson/Siedah Starship aren't fully crewed anymore - though Grace Slick improbably lingers I think the 1987 line up are still breathing. Aye, I stand corrected - mind, other than Ms Slick it ain't like there were any genuine musical heavyweights in there, eh? I did have to look them up to find out who they were and whether they were still alive. Grace Slick was 78 on Sunday.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death
Bibliogryphon replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
"Which ancient British queen is this, Boudicca or Cleopatra?" Riiight. They are on thin ice with James Joyce and Oscar Wilde as "British icons". Oh, and they spelled the Duke of Edinburgh's name wrong. Very thin ice suggesting Margaret Thatcher might be human! FTFY -

Starship aren't fully crewed anymore - though Grace Slick improbably lingers Just realised I have effectively counted Mel and Kim twices as Mel Appleby was one of the three off the Ferry Aid single who was dead.
