Authors Last A Long Time, But....
Bibliogryphon replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Yeh particularly children's authors here are a few more who have reached a grand old age. Shirley Hughes who wrote the Alfie books born 1927 Nicolas Fisk (aka David Higgenbottom) author of Kids sci-fi books like Grinny, Trillions and Starstormers born 1923 Eric Carle (The Very Hungry Caterpillar) born 1929 No health information about any of these but just by age alone they are worthy of consideration. Report of the death of Nicholas Fisk at 92. https://twitter.com/LCecilLitAgency/status/729985447397609472 Awaiting news reports/qo for BiblioG's DDP team. Is he dead or not? Good question. Those who should be in the know on Twitter say he is, but there's been no word from any news sources as yet. At this point, he's this year's Judy Carne. I'm giving it until Monday night for some form of report to appear, if not, I'll take him off the round up. The age given in the tweet is 94. He is actually 92. But why post this otherwise. If this were true I would expect the Guardian or Telegraph to be all over it. -

I am currently in the Business lounge at Istanbul airport. In a couple of hours I will be boarding a plane to Guangzhou. I should be back in action sometime around the 17th when I will let any of you who have entered the bingo know if any of your selection are ineligible. So far I'm impressed. Hope no big deaths occur and play nice. -
This could cause a massive disruption to this game.

Margot Honecker dies in Chile aged 89 Link is in Spanish.

Margot Honecker being reported dead by wiki although the source is in Spanish. Unique hit for someone.

Want to have a go at this. Need to be on the ball for this one.

Perhaps, more tragically he may have forgotten how many improbably gorgeous women he shagged! My brother had a Leicester Subbuteo team in the seventies. One day I heard him complain that the cat has sat on Frank Wothington.

I have picked topics close to me. I did try to have some that weren't too Anglocentric but even International cricket is a bit English. Who knows what the winner will choose?
-
I was aware of the Ogmore by-election but as it didn't impact the game I didn't mention it. No result yet from London?
-
You said that......
-
If you don't know the subject there is a cricket thread on here and you can always go for obvious ones e.g. Geoff Boycott which might just scupper someone else's uniques. You might get lucky.

Both are selections but it is less points for a resignation than a death.

Ah thanks but I knew this one! Just been listening to a debate about this on R4. Apparently this is an old injunction but still stands. Part of me wonders whether his employer at the time thought it a good idea to get the injunction because now he is otherwise employed and it is probably less sensitive.

Yeah anyone whose names was on a presidential ticket. Not the people vying for the nominations. So George Bush x 2 Yes, Jeb Bush No.
-
You only need five names for each though. Wikipedia/IMDB will provide friendly advice. Even though I am not playing I came up with six names in every category without reference to the internet.

I was reading about that a bit earlier. Im amazed really, amazed that they bothered to start it up. Im struggling to think of people I work with who actually buy a newspaper, any newspaper. I used to buy them but really only to have something to line Guinea Pig cages with. In the early 90s you couldn't move for free newspapers being shoved through the door. They all went away so we got a subscription to the local daily. That became weekly so I stopped it and briefly had a subscription to the i. Now have to rely on my in-laws both in their seventies for papers.

Maybe they should - like - get together and talk it over! Nah, they don't talk anymore. That's so funny.... Was that the B-side ? No its part of the lyric "Its so funny we don't talk anymore...."

Dead at 76. At least he got to see sixty. I'll get my (lab) coat. Guardian Obituary. Still nothing from the BBC. I am very cross about this. Finally the BBC provide an obit -

Updated for the newly elected President who will serve for two years. I cannot find any reference to his year of birth but I suspect he is contemporaty with Lesley Yellowtrees as he states he was an undergraduate in the early seventies. Anthony Ledwith has died. and now Harry Kroto. They seem to be dying more quickly than they can be elected. -
This morning on the Today programme Michael Morpurgo read his Football Fairytale Fox and the Ghost King This is just wonderful.
