If he does make January 1st, I doubt he'd be on the list. The current generation of Deathlist tends to pick big household name actors and actresses for those spots.

The committee are of the generation that remember Brian Rix very well. He'll make it.

Have we ever had a brother/sister combo before?

Where are they now feature in today's soaraway Sun which notes the preponderance of Alzheimer's in the surviving boys of 66. Jack Charlton's memory isn't what it was - though they stop short of lumping him in with Stiles and Peters. It is also noted that Martin Peters' condition has gone badly downhill. Coded message for selecting him for DL 2017 by the sound of it.

If I press the screen too hard on my phone it thinks I have liked it then unliked it so I have to like it again.

BG I got TWO notifications that you liked this post.

Are you Martin Peters by any chance?

OK point taken but he really should have a moan about the BBC website. I probably shouldn't say too much as when I went to China the lady at passport control insisted on seeing another photo ID because she thought I didn't look like 2009 me.

  8. They have just done a survey about best loved radio voices and Eddie Mair comes out on top but the photo on the BBC website looks shocking. Is there something he is not telling us? No link as on phone.

Won't hear a word against the man since he's - almost - one of us

    Stick around Eddie!

Incidentally, he had a problem with drink - alcoholism in the full-blown sense isn't really the issue, apparently:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2908922/BBC-Radio-4-host-Eddie-Mair-reveals-s-sober-summer.html

That article uses an old photo. The contrast between that and the BBC one is shocking. Either he has been on a Nigel Lawson diet or is ill.

  10. Just listening to a BBC iPlayer of a Six Music show yesterday and she gets an obit there.

Fair play to the news organisations for treating it well

I heard it on Radio 4. Very sad situation.

Relatives just left Turkish airspace after flying out in the middle of the coup attempt last week. I honestly didn't expect them to go and good to see them on their way back. The threat of terrorism didn't come into it for me when thinking about going to Turkey; let's face it you can get blown up or shot nearly anywhere these days. But Government crackdowns and the elimination of the opposition make me think again. On the one hand to creates an uneasy and potentially dangerous situation and on the other I'm loath to support the Government by spending money in the Country.

I think id feel safer in Benidorm, Bognor or Palma Nova than I would in Bodrum or Marmaris....

I'm going to San Francisco. I figure my chances at 50-50.

Have you got the flowers? (for your hair).
