  1. If we are talking slightly creepy peado lyrics is anyone else slightly disturbed in this context by Neil Sedaka's Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen.

You could interpret is as being 'Thank God now it is legal' or am I being harsh?

Your interpretation may not be inaccurate, but please don't perpetuate the incorrect use of the term "paedophile".

Paedos (sic) are sexually attracted to children - prepubescent children, not 15 year old girls.

I believe Mr Sedaka is an American, and the legal age of consent varies between states. So the young lady in question might even be "illegal" at 17, depending on where she resided. It has naff all to do with paedophilia, though.

Thank you for your clarification and I consider myself chastised but it might be helpful if you could do something about the whole of the British press who use the term almsot indiscriminately when talking about sexual allegations about celebrities.

Tonight's the night I've waited for

Because you're not a baby anymore

You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen

    Happy birthday sweet sixteen

What happened to that funny face

My little tomboy now wears satin and lace

I can't believe my eyes you're just a teenage dream

    Happy birthday sweet sixteen

When you were only six I was your big brother

Then when you were ten We didn't like each other

When you were thirteen You were my funny valentine

But since you've grown up Your future is sewn up

From now on you're gonna be mine, so

If I should smile with sweet surprise

It's just that you've grown up before my very eyes

You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen

    Happy birthday sweet sixteen

  3. As much as I like the look of what's contained in his tight trousers, it was brought to my attention in the car the other day that Olly Murs also sings songs that are a bit rapey. There I was, in the Scenic, tanking along the A36, having a bit of a Mum-crush while warbling away, when I realised the actual words I was singing - (in no particular order)

'What I've got girl, I know you're gonna love it'

'Won't take no for an answer tonight'

'Tonight nothing's getting in my way, I'm gonna get what's mine'

'Telling me no, no, you really mean yes, yes'

There is more, but I'm too distressed to continue, and will be calling Inspector Yewtree immediately.

I am not overly familier with the work of Mr Murrs but I get the impression that there is not a lot going on between the ears and if he is given the words to sing then he will sing them without engaging the brain.

Who writes his songs? Paul Gadd?

  4. Well DLT was presenting TOTP's with stuff by bangers of the day like ''Racey''

Some girls will, some girls won't

Some girls need a lot of lovin' and some girls don't

Well, I know I've got the fever but I don't know why

Some say they will and some girls lie

    Open invitation imho.........

  5. Charles was the first victim in the film And then there were none based on the Agatha Christie novel Ten Little Indians. He sings at a piano but the recording used on the soundtrack has a full orchestral backing.

  6. So this place is populated by long-haired hippie civil servants....

I am not a civil servant but I must admit to tendancies in the other two.

I will often get my haircut and nobody will notice and my job title is Environment & Sustainability Consultant.

I liked RA's Eco friendly left leaning bent that fits for me too.

  7. A small thing, but it pisses me off when people tell me my hair's too long, too long for what exactly? It's only just past my shoulders anyway.

Just got ''peer pressured'' into my first cut since 2012 the other week :(

Fair enough, I'm a bloke, almost 47 and it was a fucking mess , but still.........

Always had a hatred for the barbers, even as a kiddie, and its damn close call as to that chair or the dentists one I hate more.

Think I was around 20 when I started figuring out ''how many more hair cuts 'till I die'' sort of outlook.........two a year, say I make 70.....equals 100 haircuts.

By not getting it cut we prolong our lives :D

Following a meeting I attended one of the other people there asked which one I was and the secretary replied accidently copying me in. He was the one you sat next to with the shaggy greying hair. Nice to know how people see you.

  8. Well, he seems to be taking this whole hospitalization deal pretty good

    http://www.dailymail...ition-wife.html

The Polish military dictator who led the crackdown on the Solidarity movement in the 1980s has been threatened with divorce after allegedly having sex with his nurse.

General Wojciech Jaruzelski, 90, was caught by his wife Barbara, 84, in a ‘compromising position’ with his carer under his blanket.

Mrs Jaruzelska claimed her husband had been seduced by the woman, named only as ‘Dorota W.’ in the Polish media for legal reasons, after she brought him delicacies and put on high heels.

Possibly a good call not putting him on the list then.

  9. if anyone knows if he's still in hospital or not please let us know

I think you mean let me know.

If you are using us it means either you are really really common or you are speaking on behalf of all the members of the forum and as you have not bothered to sign in or register you ain't speaking for me.

  10. If you had to be on Jaruzelski or Billy Graham going first, who would you take?

You may as well ask us would you bet on heads or tails.

Two months on - no action.

I am beginning to feel a bit like the episode of Torchwood where everyone stops dying.

  11. I was impressed by the trial of DLT when as a witness for the defence they called Barry Chuckle.

The judge told him to restrict his statements to the use of the term I rather than we when referring to his recollections. Maybe the exchange went something like this:

"I am interested in how things seemed to you"

    BC: " To me?"

    I'll stop now

  12. Well, Reeve died of sepsis from a pressure ulcer as a result of being in a wheelchair, so idk if there's any real comparison?

I was more thinking of someone who spent many years following a sporting accident being a shadow of their former selves before dying at a relatively young age.

  13. I like my picks to be famous for something other than illness and death but I must admit ethically I am a little bit of a hypocrite on the rules front because I set the limit as 16 during the year (b.1998) because I wanted to prevent certain players from picking Prince George but still allowing Paris Jackson as a potential pick.
