    Best 50th Birthday present ever

     

    No clues as to which ones yet but hopefully some Patrick Troughton ones as there are precious few of these.

     

    Last time it was Galaxy 4 and the Underwater Menace both of which are not considered missing masterpieces.

     

    I hope it is the Abominable Snowman.

     

    I am the opposite as I am hoping for at least some Hartnell historicals to be amongst the recoveries. The Massacre is my holy grail but I would be delighted with Marco Polo.

     

    You might be in luck as I heard one rumour suggest the Crusdade was amongst the 'haul'.

    Question for anyone in the know...

    109 missing shows...

    Were any of those programmes recorded (at least) in sound by viewers? And now available to listen to?

     

    I ask, because I have a number of old (1960's) real-to-real tapes and you never know if it contains a Jem or two.

     

    Oh...

     

    Having just looked at a very good wiki page about the missing shows, it is the case that all audio does exist and a few reconstructions projects have been undertaken.

     

    Strikes me that the BBC need to produce Pixar type animation and release a few films of this material.

     

    There have been a couple of animation experiments - The DVD release of The Invasion features two (out of eight) animated episodes but the quality of the animation is not PIXAR standard by any means.

    Publisher George Weidenfeld (b 1919) has been mentioned in a couple of places in the past week, First there was a profile of him on the Radio 4 series about publishers and he also spoke up in the Ed Miliband vs Daily Mail spat, because he was Ralph Miliband's publisher. He also published Lolita!

     

    With that tasty Holocaust (fleeing) survivor angle too. Nailed-on points, even on a busy news day.

    If he is a temp eventually you or he will move on to pastures new. If it is him - goodriddence, if it is you - you will have the opportunity to think that he is still stuck in that job whereas you have moved on.

     

    If you work together for any length of time you will gain an insight into his pathetic life and why he insults people he doesn't know in a vain attempt to impress his peers who all think he is a knob.

     

    Congrats on the job, hope it all works out.

    Whilst on the subject of Reality TV I had the misfortune to see about 1/2 hour of Geordie Shore (I was at my sister-in-laws). Is this a real reflection of the denizens of Newcastle?

     

    If it is then I would suggest "We take off and nuke the site from orbit, its the only way to be sure"

    He's showing no signs of slowing down and has managed to keep out of hospital, perhaps we should omit him from the list next year.

     

    No No No!

     

     

    OK I accept he will probably not go this year now but I think like Thatcher he needs to be on the list otherwise we will be kicking ourselves when he does go.

    Yeah, I saw that, after I posted. :/ I was gonna post it, yesterday, but, for some reason, my comp wouldn't load this site. :/

     

    Definitely one of the biggest deaths in a while and maybe of the year depends on how the rest of the year goes. I can't think of a more famous author to die since michael crichton.

     

    A very geographical opinion. In the UK James Herbert and Iain Banks were pretty big news.

    OK even the death of Tom Clancy is not enough to break the boredom and so I present another list.

     

    This time it is presenters of WatO (or The World at One for those peasents who don't listen to Radio 4.

     

    For a programme that began in 1965 it only has six surviving main presenters

     

    William Davis (b.1933)

    Brian Widlake (?)

    David Jessell (?)

    James Naughie (b.1951)

    Martha Kearney (b 1957)

    Shaun Ley (b.1969)

     

    All would expect a BBC obit but surprised I couldn't find more detail on Jessell.

    If jack nicholson dies only person alive to have played the joker will be mark hamill , Seems weird for such a iconic character .

     

    Frank Welker (1980s cartoon series), Larry Stotch (1960s cartoon series) Greg Eagles (Batman of the Future), Kevin Michael Richardson (2000s Batman cartoon).

     

    Yes I do hate myself for looking that up.

     

    I looked at this list and thought "Why do I know the name Frank Welker?" and so went off to do the obligatory wiki search where I discovered that he provided the voice of Freddie for Scooby Doo but I recognised the name because he was Abu in Aladdin. One of the better Disney "Classics".

    Well, at least we know from the Daily Mail of the last few days that the threat of communism is far from dead! :P

     

    Nice of them to do Ed Milliband's campaigning for him.

     

    Daily Mail doesn't like it = Good thing!!!

     

    But this must also begin to throw the spotlight onto his mother who is probably more interesting for this site as she is still breathing Marion Kozak (b.1934).

    Yeah, who can forget that?

     

    Things I can remember about 2point4children:

     

    1) The episode where they buy a live turkey for Christmas

    2) Catchphrase "bloody Thatcher"

    3) Something about a ghostly motorcycle delivery boy?

    4) Bootleg Dorien Birds of A Feather neighbour

    5) Him from Hollyoaks

     

    That's five more things than I can remember.

     

    I must admit I did fancy the original actress who played the daughter. I was 16 then...

     

    The only thing i remember from that was there was a episode with a house fire and yes i also had a crush on the actress that played the daughter I was about 10 then . :lol:

    1 Julia Hills (as I loved Who Dares Wins)

    2. Gary Olsen died

    3. Roger Lloyd Pack was in it

    4. There was a parody of the Prisoner final episode with a giant ball.

    5 No sorry that's it

     

    Could not believe it ran for 6 series.
