Very nice. I've got too many genuinely good names. It means more people will still die this year.

DDP pick Gerald Pizzuto jr, the death row inmate with terminal bladder cancer is now set to die by lethal injection on Dec 15th, so probably no points for those fools who picked him: https://www.newsweek.com/gerald-pizzuto-idaho-sets-terminally-ill-man-execution-cancer-1760374

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Another instance where our stricter policy saved a few teams from a dud. After all, he's still alive. -
I do find it strange that she is three years older than the 2nd-oldest person, BUT: it happens. The bell curve is only an idealized version of reality, there can be outliers at the very end. Here, a list of the biggest tallest people who ever lived: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_people#:~:text=According to the Guinness Book,(8 ft 11 in). The tallest person was actually 3 cm taller than the 2nd oldest person, only then, there is a 1cm difference between 2nd and 3rd, and 3rd and 4th. The 3-year-age-gap can happen. I do wonder about pictures of her. Her 121st birthday picture, does she look more like 121 or more like 98? Or her 70th birthday picture, does she look more like 70 or more like 48? I kind of think she looks somewhere in between - a "youngish" looking 70-year-old woman or an aged 48-year-old woman. I would say her having aged well is more likely than her having aged badly. Even if her real age was 99 at time of death, that still points towards aging slowly instead of aging fast.

Christopher Duffy, scottish military historian and expert on the Battle of Culloden has died at ...probably... 86: https://www.scottishfield.co.uk/news/culloden-scholar-dr-christopher-duffy-has-died/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Duffy I'm sure somebody here is going to point out that he lived just down the street and was a nice fella.

Indeed, she should have gracefully retired about 10 years ago, become a mentor of other artists or sponsor art galleries or something like that. The Instagram/TikTok world since 2010 isn't something she needed to be a part of. You don't see other "around since 1980" artists do it, say, Depeche Mode or Bruce Springsteen.

Congratulations!

I am kind of resigned to ignore the Generation Game for now, because I foolishly picked Mahathir Mohamed there because he had a stretch if ill health in 2015 or something. Unfortunately, he's an immortal.

Gustavo Moncayo, Colombian peace activist and the "peace walker" has died rather quick at 69: https://confidencialcolombia.com/nacion/fallecio-gustavo-moncayo-el-caminante-por-la-paz/2022/11/15/ I might have played him in the DDP because he has an english wikipedia page.

We've still got Pope Benedikt / Pope Benedict / Pope Benedikt XVI / "The Pope" / Joseph Ratzinger though. Thankfully, the terorrists / Al Qaeda / ISIS era is also over.

If I may add, the task consists -mostly?- of the following: 1. Sending out the annual opening Email incl. the Excel sheet where the players can pick their people 2. Receiving the team emails throughout decembre (through the DDP email account) 3. Checking the teams for plausability (are all the picks alive? Spelling is right?) 4. Correct teams get copy/pasted into the annual game file (excel) 5. Communications with the players if something is wrong with the team (email stuff) 6. The most difficult part might be this: Adding new teams and new names into the main database. They need their own line and code, for example, Jonnie Irwin (if previously unpicked) will become jirwin2023 or something like that. There will be mistakes, for example, this is how two Michael A. Epsteins got into the database. If the spelling of the names isn't identical, we may get two lines for the same person, and then two pictures on the DDP site, two biographies, etc.... This is the critical part, but it happens, and I can still fix things later on. 7. Talking with Death Impends and me, is the person famous enough? (Possible through pm's of the forum), and new biographies for the new people, we share the work load. 8. At the end you hand over an excel file with the roughly 500 teams over to me, and I take over. Most of the job takes place in the final week of Decembre (usually right after Christmas) and the first week of January. There's always the teams who get submitted on the first day. They are already good for practise. I will be trying to simplify the whole checking people process. I did half of the work last year, and will pick up the pace again. Once the game is up and running, you're basically free for the rest of the year. Death Impends and I take over.

According to Russia.... Deutsche Welle cites Indonesian sources. I think there are lots of possibilities here. Maybe Lavrov doesn't want to return to Russia? He's a clever guy, and not as detached from reality as Putin.

It's still unclear what it actually was. I sometimes wonder why people wouldn't tell, especially since it was a long health fight.
