New album, still in good shape, it seems, and quite self-depreciating: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/sep/08/ozzy-osbourne-patient-number-9-review-immortal-king-of-heavy-metal-cheats-death-again

    Queen Elizabeth II

We've had a couple of deathlist hits of 90+ year old people who, out of the blue, simply died. Feels strange if it happened to Elizabeth though, I mean, she's THE name. I've expected 2-3 years of barely hanging on, like it happened to Prince Philip. Seems everything is possible now.

    Hollywood Possibilities

Taxi Driver director Paul Schrader seems to have a serious illness but doctors are unsure what it is, either something with the lungs or with the heart: https://dailytimes.com.pk/993117/film-legend-paul-schrader-is-seriously-ill-but-on-a-roll/ However, I already posted something similar in 2020 (in another thread). So, maybe it got worse, or it's not really news.

    Death By Numbers 2022

The search function tells me that somebody here has picked Lars Vogt - can't find it right now without my Excel sheet. This player can enjoy a Guardian QO: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/sep/06/lars-vogt-royal-northern-sinfonia-trust-and-generosity-michael-odonnell Edit: By the way, here's another way of saying he died, "he slipped away in hospital". Second Edit: Seems he was just a sub for Predictor. Well, I'll check again.

An Irish poet brings us to 7 deaths for the 5th, so while it took some time we're now within the usual numbers.

    Game of Thrones

Think I'll wait for worse weather to give it a try. @MortalCaso I thought the final season was... okay. There's definitely a loss in quality though once the show runs out of books to cover.

    Death By Numbers 2022

Yeah, I know how you feel.... Like you, I'm second behind Banana in AltObits. And in both pools, we scored with Bill Turnbull and Banana didn't. And in both pools we should have picked Robyn Griggs. Only after it was too late did I discover that I actually had her on my longlist before you mentioned her in the Cup. I had just forgotten about it because I didn't have the time for my annual longlist check last December. Edit: While I'm at it, my prediction of the Death By Numbers winner this year though, is neither you, nor Banana (nor me), but An Fear Beag. Had the feeling from the start.

    The Next Tory Leader

Depends if the party finds an alternative. The Republicans COULD switch away from Trump, but they know that it means losing some votes for the next 1-2 elections, short-term vs. long-term thinking. It does look like Trump is managing to keep the party dependent on him. I kind of suspect that BoJo will find his own microphone in the media.

    Death By Numbers 2022

Alright, where were we? Carl Kabat has indeed received the rare New York Times only obit. Well done, Salmon Mousse. It's something Mildred Kornman hasn't yet achieved for the players who have picked her. Most of the attention however goes to our three big hits of the past weeks: Mikhail Gorbachev, Tom Weiskopf and Bill Turnbull. Those names ensure that almost everybody gets some points now. But also, there was Lenny Johnrose who actually was a unique hit for Sean, well done! And this seems to be it? No Helen Grayco, Tim Page, Jerry Allison, etc.... well, if there's one name, just tell me. Edit: I see, someone had picked Robyn Griggs Wiley, as Robyn Griggs. Interesting! Scoreboard updated. The scoreboard is a little more crowded at the top now. And the lower ranks get a nice boost almost across the board. Everybody is now in the triple-digits! George Alagiah

Seems like a fitting comparison now. Like Deborah James, Alagiah is doing a good job keeping up appearances. Tumours seem to move with similar speed and the side effects keep accumulating. Alagiah is older than her though, so he might just run out of energy a little earlier.
