David Ward, co-founder of Britsh software producer Ocean Software, big in the 80s and early 90s as I recall, has died at 75: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/david-ward-co-founder-of-ocean-software-has-died-aged-75/

Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war

I mean, seriously, only, ONLY in Russia. All these curious deaths of millionaires and billionaires. That headline is as believable as ... I don't know.... something not believable at all. -

Russell Nelson recently became the oldest-ever head of the Mormon church, at 97, and is still in excellent form: https://www.deseret.com/2022/4/14/23025099/president-russell-m-nelson-now-oldest-president-of-the-church-of-jesus-christ-of-latter-day-saints https://www.heraldextra.com/faith-2/2022/may/05/lds-president-russell-m-nelson-spends-time-with-sikh-leaders-issues-national-day-of-prayer-message/

Alright, where were we? There was a bit of a slump in the DDP, though not really all that much. Still, I was also sick for two weeks and so the hits kept slowly accumulating.... this is going to get busy... First and most of all, we've just had the almost universal pick George Perez as a big name in this competition. YoungWillz gets an interesting unique hit with James Anderton, as written above. Three people score with longtime frail Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki. The Daredevil gets a hit with french actor Michel Bouquet, that was a fine selection. An Fear Beag scores big twice with Mosharaf Hossain Rubel and Mike Bossy, very, very big, congratulations. Bossy was picked by other players, too. And Mosharraf Hossain was also picked by a player who I'm not sure is still in the game (also picked by that person was Michel Bouquet). Some players get points for Kane Tanaka, not many points, but they do - hey, three points is better than zero! Two players score with centenarian US music executive Art Rupe. And last but not least, three players score with ice hockey legend Guy LaFleur. Well, that careful checking of the past month also showed me that Kenny still needs points for centenarian British dancer Henry Danton, sorry! ALSO, TorvaMessor gets unique points for Conrad Janis who received a New York Times obit back in March (also Yahoo IIRC). Tracy Kashi is a non-obit for me, I think I have to rely now mostly on these "Other Lives" Guardian obits that drop in 3-4 months late, but I might have to accept that this is a world in which Belinda Sykes and Tracy Kashi do not obit. Yorkshire Bank is also sitting on a non-obit with Sonny Caldinez, and I'm not sure if there is hope. SalmonMousse is still waiting for an obit for Belgian singer Arno that counts. Let's see, but maybe a year-end roundup is the best remaining chance. Kenny also placed a bet on ancient polish runner Stanislaw Kowalski, but he sadly isn't getting anything. Alright, you picked people all across the globe and from all kinds of fields. I hope this update covers at least most of it, if not, tell me. The resulting scoreboard shows a small switch at the top, it's the change of Guy LaFleur vs. Mike Bossy - funnily enough, two North American Ice Hockey legends. Rank Team Score 1 Salmon Mousse 858 2 Banana 853 3 Joey Russ 809 4 msc 752 5 An Fear Beag 714 6 Cpt. Heh, I think I never replaced C.W.McCall because of the unclear game Status. Well, I'll also put in Steve McMichael.

The original poll was only about 2020 anyway. It still hit a little harder than we expected ;).
-
Somewhat notable that he actually died two years ago but it wasn't discovered until recently.

DDP pick Irish mobster Cornelius Price is making minimal progress from his coma. He can basically only open and close his eyes, so he is out of the coma but apparently extremely mentally challenged: https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/crime/gravely-ill-gang-boss-cornelius-price-may-never-face-justice-over-kidnap-plot-41616999.html

Ah, to be fair, I did update yesterday, and yes, something was ringing in the back of my mind about another name. But I kind of thought it was Tony Brooker and didn't have the time to check again. I'll add him (soon).

IIRC, a DDP pick for Not Gone Yet, but still forgotten. Also picked in the Cup

Apparently, the Russians have started to storm the Azov steelworks. I did consider Azov batallion commanders Denis Prokopenko and Sergei Volina for the Cup. Let's see, if I should have...

David Birney, US actor in St. Elsewhere and on the sitcom Bridget Loves Bernie, dead of Alzheimer's at 83: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/david-birney-dead-actor-bridget-loves-bernie-83-1235139638/ Picked by the DDP theme team "Saints Elsewhere" Edit: QO:https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/celebrities/18447146/david-birney-cause-of-death/

Another update on Steve McMichael, including a fresh and grim picture: https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2022/5/2/23054419/our-man-says-steve-mcmichael-belongs-in-hall-of-fame-telander-mongo-misty-mcmahon-singletary-long A question of days, or, at most, weeks. Edit: Interestingly, he still seems able to talk, though just barely. But his bodily functions have declined dramatically. A very uneven progression of the disease, which is a big contrast to, say, Ady Barkan.

Jack Thomas appeared on a gala or something a month ago. He seemed fine. Better than he was supposed to half a year ago. Jack Kaiser is the old guy with the Wikipedia page. I read at some point last month that he's in hospice, only I actually couldn't find the tweet again in my final update search. I hope I didn't dream it.

Chomsky trending on Twitter for a new video where he sees only one statesman advocating for a diplomatic solution in the Ukraine war and that is Donald Trump: https://mobile.twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1520751923355398144 I mean, it's certainly not Putin...

Public apology to @Hanzem and @Deadboy. I facepalmed their posts when they called Kane Tanaka the "2nd oldest person" ever. Here I was thinking, "huh, she was only the 3rd oldest person ever, so I guess they are buying into the Jeanne Calment/daughter swap conspiracy theory". Only, I completely missed that she ACTUALLY surpassed Sarah Knauss. I'm sorry....

German evening news mention that Russia has paid some of its foreign debt that was due through cash reserves in foreign countries.... ...my theory: this is connected to the suspicious recent deaths of several oligarchs in foreign countries. Russian oligarchs, even if they live in foreign countries, are essentially regarded as assets of the regime (the regime being the same as the "national interest"). Maybe they refused to hand over their assets? -
So he's going to have (cancer?) surgery and hand over power temporarily: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10770541/Putin-cancer-operation-near-future-hand-power-hardline-ex-KGB-chief.html He also Parkinson's and early schizophrenia according to an insider posting on Telegram, some sort of Russian "Q".

After she already had a double masectomy because of her family history, she now also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed: http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/mar/24/angelina-jolie-ovaries-removed-cancer-scare She decided to do this after some medical tests showed indications of early cancer. While she says that her children will not be able to say that "mom died of ovarian cancer", she's still at risk of getting cancer because of a certain "faulty" gene she inherited.

She's in Ukraine now, but so far only in "safe" Lviv, the coward:
